Not really. We want to win the league and champions league. To do so you need finances, and our finances depend on playing CL football. At the end of the day, trophies are everything and if we add the FA Cup to our trophy cabinet this season, along with the League Cup, then top 4 will be just an after thought.
I don't dispute that, but it wouldn't be a blow to the managers credentials like the poster said. It would suck ass big time yeh, but I wouldn't be calling for the manager's head just yet.Wait, do you disagree? Not getting top 4 from where we were a month ago will be catastrophic - particularly as we'll probably only have a Carabao Cup to show for this season.
Because I expected them to win all of their remaining fixtures 3 or 4 games ago. Newcastle and Man United have they more difficult fixtures, 4th at best I'd reckon for Man United with team having played 50 plus games and wants the end of the season swiftly.Who gives a feck if they do?
Out of their hands. United will end in 3rd, Newcastle 4th.
Villa lost and didn't score against Wolves today, lets be honest they won't be getting a result in Anfield.People acting like Villa - who've got Europe to play for and need to win their remaining games to ensure this- are just going to roll up and have their bellies tickled against the scouse...
Again, Jesus your misery on here the last few weeks has been something else. So tell me this, if we miss top 4 do you want him sacked?Nah you're right, give the lad a 10 year contract. That's exactly the kind of failure we reward around these parts.
Liverpool are doing what they need to do, nothing special at all but grinding out the wins.
Hope we can get a win tomorrow night just to calm things a bit.
There is absolutely not a hope in hell Liverpool make it to fourth.
If we throw 4th to Liverpool it's a massive blow to the managers credentials.
This place will be in absolute hysterics tomorrow if we don’t win.Liverpool are doing what they need to do, nothing special at all but grinding out the wins.

Yep, the Kop will sing “You’ll never walk alone,” , Klopp will passively-aggressively play off the 4th official, Alisson will score another last-minute winner, and Liverpool will win all their remaining games.
But so what? We only need 9 points.
To be honest, I think Leicester next Monday are our biggest hopes of Liverpool dropping points. They're shit but they're at home and they'll need a big performance for the battle they're in, the crowd will be up for it.People acting like Villa - who've got Europe to play for and need to win their remaining games to ensure this- are just going to roll up and have their bellies tickled against the scouse...
I think we all sense that we're not going to win tomorrowThis place will be in absolute hysterics tomorrow if we don’t win.
I'm just saying it in terms of "we can lose 2 games and still qualify" to show the breathing room we have. Of course we should win them all, but it's just a point of saying, yeah it might get tight but I'd be shocked if we totally miss out.Losing another game just because we can isn't the best way to look at it. Lose tomorrow again and the team could fall off a cliff and drop more points. Chelsea could collect themselves even further by the time we play them at home also.
We should be beating West Ham away tomorrow no question.
Nah the pessimists were saying we’d be behind Liverpool by the time we kicked off at West Ham because Aston Villa are the greatest team in history and there’s no way we’d beat them.I think we all sense that we're not going to win tomorrow
A week ago the pessimists said that Liverpool would be 1 point behind us when we go into the West Ham game, and what do you know...
If we get top 4, Sevilla will win the EL. It is written. On the plus side to playing Europa League again next season is that we won’t get KO’ed from Europe by Sevilla for once

Liverpool will win their games, that's pretty much a given.Even assuming Liverpool win all their remaining games, we can lose two games in five and still finish top four. And our remaining games are against the teams in 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th and 15th. Which is why the bookmakers give us an implied probability of around 84% to finish in the top four.
I can't tell if some of you guys are just catastrophising or looking for a chance to criticise the team/manager but I really hope ye're not this fretful in the rest of your lives.
Who gives a feck if they do?

With that in mind, we don't even need to have catastrophic form to miss out. 2-2-1 does it. Say, lose at West Ham, draw at Bournemouth and against Chelsea. Completely plausible, no huge shocks there.
Is anyone else worried about the lack of goals from ourselves? Will it cost us top 4 in the end?
I had this horrible feeling that Liverpool would pip us to it and they will become even more insufferable!
8 points wouldn't be enough in that scenario. Which is why I was baffled that a poster tried telling me that losing to Brighton was no different to a draw.Liverpool will win their games, that's pretty much a given.

Yeah, I'm the problem. Maybe my misery has something to do with us playing shit and dropping points every time we play away? There might just be a correlation there you know.Again, Jesus your misery on here the last few weeks has been something else. So tell me this, if we miss top 4 do you want him sacked?
It feels very similar to the season we chased Leicester down and nabbed it on final day. Leicester folded that year and let us in.Liverpool are doing what they need to do, nothing special at all but grinding out the wins.
Hope we can get a win tomorrow night just to calm things a bit.
This thread told me it was impossible. There's no need to get stressed after every Liverpool result - we know they will win their remaining games (and knew that before they played Spurs) so reacting to each win is a waste of energy.
It's also not worth getting stressed when we drop points against West Ham tomorrow; the time to panic is if we drop points against Bournemouth, Wolves or Fulham - those are our best chances at the required 9 points.
Tonight's result doesn't change anything.
That's what I'm saying, that getting 8 points out of 15 isn't catastrophic form (as sullydn accused people of catastrophising) but it does mean missing out on top 4.8 points wouldn't be enough in that scenario. Which is why I was baffled that a poster tried telling me that losing to Brighton was no different to a draw.
Sorry. Misread. Agree. That's what I'm saying, that getting 8 points out of 15 isn't catastrophic form (as sullydn accused people of catastrophising) but it does mean missing out on top 4.
We will not win all our games. Liverpool will. We need to win 3. Newcastle will be 3rd.
8 points out of 15 for a team like United who spent £230m in the summer is pretty fecking shite to be honestThat's what I'm saying, that getting 8 points out of 15 isn't catastrophic form (as sullydn accused people of catastrophising) but it does mean missing out on top 4.
Leicester wont lose to Liverpool next week, the need something from the game to stay up.
I think we'll get something against West Ham tomorrow night as Moyes will want to rest players ahead of AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, after that we should really be able to win all our remaining games.
