Quinton Fortune

Yeah but Phil for me is the best defensive midfield cover.

If he is or even if Fortune is, when you sit back and think about it and take Keane's age into consideration that is quite concerning!

Fortune and Phil could easily make way for 2/3 million each, when you take into account their ability compared to their wages especially in Phil's case then its a good move for the club.

Fortune is a great squad player.

He was our best player against AC Milan. Why should we sell him to the Jordie's ??

Fortune is good esp in the CL. If Fortune had scored against Milan bet this tread would not even exist.

yeah right
our best player against ac milan was ronaldo
fortune has limited ability and is certainly not a GREAT squad player but a good one...he is crap at left back.decent at CM,crap on the wing...
in conclusion,should be sold

Fortune has not had much playing time, and He rarely started. If the Jeordies can give him more first team action then, while it is sad to see him go, send him on his way.

I think it's good business if we can still sell Fortune for 2M.

To be honest I'm not that crazy about Jenas but if we can use Fortune as a trade off plus some money, then the idea is not that bad considering that Jenas is both young and English.

phil neville is a very good backup for keane
fortune is just a bulldozer
shite in attack,shite in defence

cant have seen too many games by Fortune then.

Fortune in most matches I have seen has been impressive.
He can play in most positions. Is hard but fair...and does not give up free kicks in dangerous place as Phil tends to do.

Quinton Forlan

He'd probably be the worst signing of the past 25 years. Easily. I can't believe anyone would recommend him, esp. for United.

I thought you rated commitment over talent everytime?

Not surprised you didn't get what I said.

Read the post again, and you'll see that commiyment alone won't get you anywhere, it has to be complemented with ability, obviously - as well as vice versa.

Fortune, IMO, is just plain average, and not good enough.

I was only winding you up! Seriously though Fortune has had a half decent season for a utility player and it would be a shame to get shut now.

Well its concerning that Keane is nearly 34 alright but Phil can still do a decent job, especially if the rest of the midfield and attack is at full strength. Keane is often a loss when hes missing but hes not the only one.

Sell Fortune and keep Miller, Kleberson and Bellion ? or even Phil ? you'r having a laugh

Phil is shit and is being paid allot for it every week. Why has none of the other clubs come in for him yet?
Kleberson - I think we bought the wrong Kleberson. The real one is on some beach somewhere.
Miller - This guy is slow, small, weak and very timid looking. Where does he fit in ?
Bellion - well where do i start

Fortune dismiss Newcastle link

Manchester United's Quinton Fortune has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Newcastle United.

Magpies boss Graeme Souness is rumoured to be an admirer of the tenacious South Africa international, who is not a regular starter at Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, the versatile midfielder is determined to make his mark with The Red Devils and has no intention of departing this summer.

In an exclusive interview with Kick Off in his homeland, Fortune stressed his desire to continue wearing the red shirt of United.

"I have heard about this," he responded when asked about Newcastle's interest. "But it is just speculation.

"My manager has heard nothing concrete on the Newcastle issue.

"No, I never [see myself as just a squad member at United]. I see myself as a first-teamer.

"You have to see yourself that way. And a club like United need lots of players that see themselves that way, even if some of the team are not always in the first XI.

"The competition is huge over there and you give absolutely everything just to stay in the first team.

"You have to work really, really hard," he told Kick Off. "You have to be really, really patient.

"There's times you sit on the bench and ask yourself: 'What's happening to my life?' You have to realise that it is very difficult.

"You have to work really, really hard. I mean, harder than you can ever imagine working in football."

Fortune's favoured position is the centre of midfield but he is happy to play anywhere for Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Yes, I would prefer to play centre midfield," he continued. "I feel more complete there.

"I get more of the ball and can be more creative.

"But every single game I play [is a highlight]. Every time I pull on a United shirt, I have to check myself. It's me, Quinton, playing for Man United!"

You mean we're not signing him, damn.

Always seemed a good honest pro to me. Not the most talented player we ever had but always gave his all. Interesting to hear Rooney say he's one of the characters round OT.

Quinton is a player that was and is close to my heart due to him being South African and playing for United. He always played his heart out. And though a lot of people think he wasn't that talented, it really didn't help him being played out of position. Before United, Quinton always played as a creative central midfield player and he continued to do so for our national team. I'm glad to hear he's still around OT.

I remember him being a very hardworking and honest footballer. He was a decent left back/winger for us too. Very useful player indeed. I dont think I ever heard him complain about anything while he was our active player.

What the feck was with the Jenas love-in?

Had a decent start at Newcastle and impressed on his england debut (which was also Rooney's i believe, and Jeffers...), there was a lot of buzz about him back then.

About Fortune, i remember he scored a freekick against Charlton i think it was and my mate telling me that we didn't need Beckham anymore because of it. Very strange. He was a good squad player and played in almost as many positions as Sheasy.

And that is what made him an even better player for us since he wasn't a natural left back nor winger, he was central midfielder converted into one.

Used to love Fortune, thought he was a good player myself. I remember him filling in at left back and it turned out that he was actually a good left back. The best memory of him is when we brought him on against Madrid and he started kicking lumps out of them, resulting in a massive tussle.

I remember that. Rated by Keano too.

In Glory Glory... by Andy Mitten, Andy Cole recalls a training session that Fergie had to bring to a close because Keano, or Schiz, as Cole was allowed to call him kept fouling Fortune.
I liked him though!

He's always been close to my heart because he was born on 21 May 1977, the day we beat Liverpool in an FA Cup Final. Whenever I think of Quinton I think of that day.

The Park before Park. Had more heart than talent which got him farther than most. I don't remember anything special about him, except he was a class professional and never gave up.

Park is a much better player then Fortune. Fortune was pretty average for the EPL standards to be honest. He was committed and hardworking which may have justified his role at United but talent wise he was average.

Yep, I always thought he was a better midfielder than a winger or a full back. Thing is he was never able to get a run anywhere due to bring injury prone. He had a great chance in 2002/03 when we were on a bad ran and he then started, I think, in midfield in our 5-3 win over Newcastle and 2-1 at Anfield (the Forlan/Dudek game) - and prompty broke his foot.

His bad luck with injuries was astonishing.
