You say you've seen him many times.

You say he hasn't impressed you one bit.

But now you want to know if he's any good?

Yes, he's fecking magic. And he wears a magic hat.

Don't you have some Brazilian boy's video comp you should be tugging yourself blind over?

Jenas always bosses Vieira when he plays against him....it must have been difficult playing in a midfield with Robert, Bowyer & Ambrose!
So does Phil Neville...

Quinton is a very good squad member. Can be used on various positions. There is no need to sell him.

Except Gill has said SAF has to keep down the size of the squad. There'll be more departures in order to bring down the wage bill. We have other players who can do what Fortune does and his departure will open a slot for a youngster to progress to the first team squad. Be sad to see such a good servant go, but so be it if he does. Good luck to him if he can get regular first team football elesewhere.

You must have only saw him play last season because before that he had been very impressive.

The question we should be asking as Utd fans if he is a realistic option, can he regain the form he showed in previous years?

You would like to think he is young enough to do so and if we could use some of our utility players in part exchange then it might be worth serious consideration.

But now we have to buy a centre midfielder who can give serious challenge to keane,we dont need any more players who will take time

Yes, I think we could afford to loose at least one of the 'utility' players (Fortune, P Neville, JOS). If we are looking to reduce the salary bill the obvious choice would P Neville as he is apparantly on significantly more money than the other 2 and is also much older. IMO he doesn't really offer much more than either Fortune or JOS on the pitch.

get rid of fortune AND get money for it ?
something`s not right here.

And get a young English CM that many rate as potentially a classy player. I'm very eager to see this Jenas play for United, if he does indeed sign. I still hope the club can sign a player like Mascherano or Ballack, but that is probably doubtful this summer.

How do people rate our chances of managing to get Jenas anyway?

I can't see why Souness would let him go to be honest with you, it's not as if he has to sell him.

Mind you...it IS souness so anything is possible.

we dont need fortune who is shit
defensively he is worse than phil
offensively he is worse than kleberson(!)
play as left back. worse than jos

whenever he plays, he just leads to confrontation with rivals
we should sell him even we can just get 1million

I would say Phil is a more valuable squad player than Fortune or O Shea. And using O Shea in midfield is not good in my opinion.

Rumor that Phil will transfer to Boro for 2m. I think he'd be a good signing for them.

So that would be Phil and Fortune out, Jenas in...and Kleb probably on his way to Corinthians or Benfica or some 3rd club as not yet mentioned.

Souness dropped Jenas last season before he bought Faye and Parker recently for the central midfield. With Butt and Ameobi also playing that role then things aint looking to good for Jenas. He is definitely worth a gamble for Fergie but isnt in the same class as Mascherano or Essien at the moment.

 What?

Souness definitely rates Jenas. Besides Given, he had the most appearances for the toon last season - 48 across all comps - and almost all of them as CM next to Faye or Butt. As for Ameobi he was dropped into either a wide-right or a :wenger: wide-left role when Souness tried to play a 4-5-1, never through the middle and sweet jesus never in a holding role.

With the arrival of Parker that does overload them with CMs. And assuming they return to 4-4-2 with other strikers signing, Jenas will probably be forced out wide-right or to the subs bench outright to accomodate Parker. It may indeed be worth a gamble if he doesn't like it there.

That said I wouldn't include him in any deal with Fortune who offers a lot more cover at a lot more positions. Fine, he's not world-class but he's not shambolic.

I thought you rated commitment over talent everytime?

Fortune is worth more than 2 mio. We paid 4-5 for Park and if Jenas is rated at 7, we should sell Fortune for 4-5 mio. £..

But I wouldn't sell Fortune. He is a hard working player, and can play several positions in the team.. Sell Kleberson and Miller instead..!

Does he give that much more to the team in terms of squad versatility than Fortune or Oshea? You mentioned about Oshea in midfield but I really couldn't see P Neville as back for the centre of our defence.

IMO when you take into consideration his age, apparent wages and ability, Phil is the obvious choice (especially when the whole idea is to reduce the salary bill).

fortune is a decent squad player, we need him over a course of a season, he always seems to score a few goals a season as well

IMO we need to finally lte go off Phil, aswell as Kleb, Miller and Quinny.

Our midfield would then be :-

Ronaldo - Keane - Scholes - Giggs
Park--Fletcher--Jenas--Richardson

Yeah but Phil for me is the best defensive midfield cover at the club and can also play in the full back positions. O Shea isn't that great in central defence, in fact I think Spector will prove to be a better player than him. Phil is United through and through and unless he has a falling out with Sir Alex(which is highly unlikely) and plays a lot less games I can't see him wanting to leave United. Hes only about 4 months older than Fortune for instance.
