Neymar to PSG.
They really tried to get him. PSG fans can't really complain that their club isn't doing everything possible to take the club to highest level.

Don't worry, French always complain and whine

Do you think PSG splurge for a striker next season to at least challenge Cavani if not replace him?

Could see them going for Alexis Sanchez.

Very challenging to get a decent available striker this winter. Lo Celso, a young Argentinian offensive midfielder, will join us in January.

Sure, next summer, PSG needs someone to challenge/replace/support Cavani and I guess PSG will try once again to acquire one forward/striker at least

- Impossible dream targets: Neymar/Messi/Cr7/Lewandoski
- PSG will certainly acquire one of these players: Griezmann, Alexis Sanchez, Lacazette, Bacca, Icardi & Aubameyang.

In the meantime, Augustin (18 years, France u21 player) will have the opportunity to play some games and improve. Contrary to most PSG fans, I'm happy to have Augustin as a back-up.

Please be sure PSG will have a lot of money to spend in the next 12 months despite the FFP given the facts that:

- PSG was ready to acquire Neymar at a high price last summer
- PSG has sold David Luiz at a good price in the last day of the previous mercato
- I can see an offensive player leaving the club next summer: Jésé, Ben Arfa or somebody else.

NANCY 1-2 PSG (Lucas, Cavani)

Many injured/unavailable players: kurzawa, pastore, aurier, maxwell, di maria

Didnt they struggle a bit in the beginning? I didnt watch it, but Basel had more shots on goal with far less possession til the first goal. Guess they got countered until Di Maria scored. Then everything went more or less easily for them.

Yeah, Basel created many chances in the 1st half and deserved to score 1 or 2 goals! Call it experience

Exclusive | Chelsea position themselves for Javier Pastore

According to sources contacted by GFFN, Chelsea have confirmed their desire to lodge a proposal to sign PSG attacking midfielder Javier Pastore for the January transfer window.

Les Parisiens will weigh up whether or not Javier Pastore can be seen as dispensable in the coming weeks. The Argentinian has barely featured under Unai Emery. This is principally as a result of injury concerns, but Emery’s recent reversal from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3 makes Pastore a little redundant tactically.

Additionally, the player is understood to have received a big money proposal from China and an offer from Italy.

Antonio Conte had been eyeing Pastore already in summer.

A.K.

Adil Rami confirms PSG contacted him after David Luiz’s departure

Speaking to RMC this evening, French international defender and Sevilla man Adil Rami confirmed that he was contacted by PSG on transfer deadline day as a possible replacement for David Luiz who has since moved to Chelsea.

“I had contacts with PSG in the most recent transfer window. It was not 100% certain, we discussed a lot but I am really happy at Sevilla. It was after the departure of David Luiz. But I need to play, and today I am a starter in a club that is respected on a European level, so I did not want to take the risk. When you see the quality of the defenders at PSG… It made me think for sure, because it is still PSG, a great European club that can go very far in the Champions League. Aside from that, as I have said, my aim is to continue as many matches as possible as a starter.”

If Chelsea sign Pastore I'll be gutted. I'd love for us to go for him, and I think he'd do well here, but with Mata and Mkhi already here I just don't see it unfortunately.

Do you think PSG will win? Basel is a tough ground (imo) and they had chances to score in the first leg. Personally hope not, put some bucks on PSG.

Cheers. Let's hope PSG will win easily at the Emirates Stadium for the final game :)

Since the 1st leg:
- Unai Emery has finally understood that Di Maria is better on the right wing.
- Rabiot & Thiago Silva are now in an excellent shape.

The deciding factor could be Cavani as usual now: capable to score 3 goals tonight or to miss easy chances.

But, yeah, I'm confident for tonight.

What's the situation with Ben Arfa? Is he still being frozen out?

In the last games, he has played between 5 and 20 minutes per game.

If Chelsea sign Pastore I'll be gutted. I'd love for us to go for him, and I think he'd do well here, but with Mata and Mkhi already here I just don't see it unfortunately.

Nobody will leave the club this winter. Next summer will be another story.

I had some money on them in the last league game. I always thought (only seen most of their CL games in recent years) that the hate Cavani's getting was a bit over the top. But he really misses a lot of chances, especially why does he use so much power when hitting the ball most times? I grasped that when i watched the game against Lille. Yeah, his winning strike was sensational, tbf.

Rabiot coming on was a good idea. He's good. Maybe i got that one wrong, but i expect(ed) more from Verratti. I think he's been underwhelming so far, which is a problem.

Verratti still needs time to fully recover his pre-injuries level.

Like David Luiz, Cavani tends to be subject to harsh comments. With Napoli playing in counter-attack, he had impressive stats and was the best top scorer of the Serie A in 2013. Then, he joined PSG but had to play on the wing: despite his limited technical skills, his stats are pretty decent. It is his 1st season with PSG as a #9: 14 goals in 13 goals and you know the high number of chances he misses. Cavani has always been a reliable striker in terms of physical impact (a beast, hard pressing) and aerial play.

I've always thought Cavani would have been a great acquisition for United in the last seasons because he doesn't need a specific tactical system (possession or counter-attacking system) to score.

The 'issue' is that Cavani is the only one player able to score. Cavani is not a football player but a scorer: he scored most of his goals with 1 touch max.

Di Maria: 1 goal. Lucas: 3 goals.

If Verratti is unfit for duty, hopefully Rabiot will be ahead in the pecking order. Verratti comes across a bit diva-esque; i've heard him having a good moan in recent times under Emery. His agent is trying to put pressure on the club, Verratti must have given his okay to this action.

Cavani looks at first sight like the perfect striker. Strong build, hard working, smart (off the ball movements) and good technique. But for the life of me i can't understand why he misses so many chances these days. There must be a psychological problem. I had a look at one of PSG's biggest communities (leforum.culturepsg.com) and people seem to really hate him ('Je te hais. Je préfère une équipe de 11 Matuidi, que 10 Pastore et un Cavani.'
...Pastore really is their/your 'chouchou'). As a striker, you must score goals and he's failing. Similar to Ibra, people ain't happy.

You mentioned the past and i think Cavani has regressed over the years. Some time ago i had a similar line of thought that Cavani would fit right in the Premier-League. But with hindsight, in my point of view, it's a good thing that no one bought him. He's just not that good.

Di Maria is coming to life, imo. Maybe Jesé can follow, there's Ben Hatira and Lucas. Big mistake that PSG missed out on bringing in another striker, someone like Lacazette.

Griezmann I don't think will go there. he seems to dismiss it when mentioned and I reckon hes EPL bound. aubameyang to Madrid. bacca I could see going there.

Problem PSG face is Verratti and marquinhos will eventually leave. replacing them will be hard. I rate those 2. Unlike lucas and cavani

1. The idea is to exert pressure on the top management to acquire world-class players in order to win the ECL
2. His agent is already working on a story-telling 'Verratti is so unhappy blah blah' in order to anticipate a potential arm wrestle with the top management.

Football is strange sometimes so he is able to score impossible goals. You watched Nancy-PSG: he missed an easy chance but at the end scored a nice goal. If he was able not to miss easy chances, he would be a Ballon D'or!

I disagree with you regarding his ability to succeed in the EPL!

 I know very well this forum. My understanding is pretty sample:

- France: 65 millions people
- PSG fans: 2.6 millions according to IPSOS survey (I know this figure doesn't make sense)
- PSG Season ticket holders: 33,000
- Culture PSG: 4,259 members as of today including 100 very active posters maybe, and amongst these 100 active posters, you should have 10 posters who strongly hate Cavani and another 10 who hate Matuidi

We can't say 'Matuidi or Cavani haters' are a representative sample of the 'PSG community'.

I don't know if you're French but you shouldn't be surprised: posters are generally never satisfied!

Griezmann I don't think will go there. he seems to dismiss it when mentioned and I reckon hes EPL bound. aubameyang to Madrid. bacca I could see going there.

PSG is not a 'normal club' because they don't want to earn money in the short run as their top priority is to win the ECL in the next years.

Marquinhos was acquired for €30m and PSG has declined offers (€50m) from Barcelona & Chelsea while he was a sub. Now, he's part of the starting 11. He is just 22 years old and also plays for Brazil. So, I'm inclined to say he won't leave the club in the midterm.

Verratti is another story: I think he will leave the club in 2018 IMO

Griezmann? He is happy to live in Spain but Atletico Madrid is a club that knows how to sell a player at the high price: Aguero, Falcao, Forlan... Let's say 5-7 clubs including PSG are capable to acquire him.

Nobody will leave the club this winter. Next summer will be another story.
Yeah, I don't expect any major transfers to happen during the Winter period for the most part, but just seeing Chelsea linked with Pastore is horrible!

Adrien Rabiot has received his first call-up to the France team after Didier Deschamps named his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Sweden.

The 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has played for the country’s youth teams from under-16s to under-21s, but has now been rewarded for his form with a first senior recognition.

Rabiot is joined in the squad by team mates Alphonse Areola, Layvin Kurzawa and Blaise Matuidi, with the likes of Yohan Cabaye and Morgan Schneiderlin absent.

He has appeared in 10 of PSG’s 11 Ligue 1 games this season, completing 90% of his passes and creating eight chances, while also winning 62% of his duels.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud returns to the squad after recovering from a toe injury that had kept him sidelined until recently, while Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante retains his place.

Borussia Dortmund winger Ousmane Dembele and Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman are included, while Nabil Fekir also makes the cut, but Lyon team mate Alexandre Lacazette and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema don’t.

France play Sweden in a World Cup qualifier on November 11 before a friendly against the Ivory Coast four days later.

Tianjin Songjiang make €20m a year offer to Edinson Cavani

Chinese outfit Tianjin Songjiang have made a €20m a year offer to PSG striker Edinson Cavani, and are willing to pay €50m to sign the player from Les Parisiens next month, according to our colleagues at France Football.

Tianjin Songjiang are situated in China’s fourth largest city and, after recently being promoted from the Chinese second division and having appointed Ballon D’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro as manager, are looking to become one of the largest clubs inside the Asian country.

The €20m a year salary that Tianjin Songjiang are offering Cavani would allow him to match watch Brazilian striker Hulk is earning at Shanghai SIPG.

Fabio Cannavaro called up PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi recently and confirmed to the Qatari that his club was willing to pay €50m to prise Edinson Cavani away from the French capital.

Needless to say, the response from all parties concerned was no. Contact has also been made by this club for Javier Pastore, where the answer was also no. However, our colleagues consider there to be a bigger possibility that Pastore changes his mind in the coming weeks than with Cavani for example.

PSG and Arsenal are in negotiations for Julian Draxler

PSG and Arsenal are in negotiations to sign German international Julian Draxler from Wolfsburg this January, according to our colleagues at RMC.

PSG are in direct talks with the Bundesliga side and are set to make an opening offer imminently worth €30m.

Arsenal are also in the race, and are in talks with Julian Draxler’s entourage, according to a Tweet put out by the reporter behind the story, Mohamed Bouhafsi.

The report also states that Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Özil is pushing very hard behind the scenes to make the North London club sign Draxler next month. RMC state that Arsenal are preparing to lodge a €35m offer.

Wolfsburg are asking for €40m from all interested parties and are ready to sell the player after Draxler made it clear that he wants to leave.

More undoubtedly to follow in the coming days…

PSG have opened discussions with Ricardo Rodriguez

According to our colleagues at RMC, PSG have opened talks with Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez’s agent over a possible move.

PSG boss Unai Emery is said to be frustrated with Layvin Kurzawa’s injury problems of late and knows that the club will have to replace Brazilian veteran Maxwell who is 35 and only has 7 months on his contract remaining.

Talks have therefore been opened with the representatives of Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez. The 24 year old has a release clause of €25m and talks have not begun with the Bundesliga side in question.

PSG make initial offer for Luan

According to Globo Esporte, PSG have made an initial offer for Grêmio striker Luan.

Talks between the two clubs will not begin until after December 15th, Grêmio’s final game of the season. The report claims that at the moment, there are three possibilities for Luan. One, being the most likely, he leaves in January potentially to PSG. The other is that he plays in the Copa Libertadores and leaves Grêmio in the summer of 2017 or January 2018.

PSG make €11m offer for Lucas Alario

PSG have submitted an €11m offer for River Plate striker Lucas Alario, according to our colleagues at RMC.

The offer for the 24 year old stated does not include bonuses. Alario has an €18m release clause in his current River Plate contract.

The response from River Plate and the player himself is not yet known. More undoubtedly to follow in the coming days…

The Grêmio President is looking for €25m in order to sell the player, and PSG might have a problem with that, according to the report.

Antonio Rüdiger – PSG links denied – agent

Last night a report was produced by our colleagues at RMC, claiming that AS Roma had proposed a swap deal with Les Parisiens including Jesé and Antonio Rüdiger.

The representatives of the German international moved to deny this speculation when contacted by our colleagues at Canal Supporters today:

“We deny this speculation. The player feels very good at his current club at the moment and there is no transfer played now.”

Angel di Maria unhappy at PSG – source

A source at PSG contacted by our colleagues at RMC has explained that attacking midfielder Angel di Maria is unhappy at the capital club.

The source inside the PSG camp had the following to say:

“He is often in a strop, he does not look happy, it is quite wearisome to see a player who is not making an effort to look happy in the changing room. The player does not give off the feeling that he wants to be at the club for the long-term. The Argentinian is from now on firmly on the radar of his President, Nasser Al Khelaifi. And on the radar of his manager, Unai Emery, who is due to meet with him before the huge clash with Nice this Sunday.”

Football Leaks | PSG paid for Thiago Silva’s Italian taxes

PSG’s original contract with Thiago Silva has been obtained by French outlet Mediapart as part of the Football Leaks series.

It is clear that Les Parisiens had every intention of making Silva feel at home, some clauses within the contract stand out:

8 Paris – Rio return tickets for Thiago Silva and his family.

€400k – Ligue 1 title win bonus.

5 – seats in the VIP “Club Etoile” for each match played at the Parc des Princes.

€250k – Coupe de France win bonus.

€300k – Champions League qualification bonus.

€1m – Winning the Champions League bonus.

€2m to the player’s agent Paul Tonietto when Thiago Silva decides to extend his PSG contract, in addition to the €3.5m agent fee received by Tonietto when the player initially transferred from AC Milan to PSG.

€2.5m – an agreement on behalf of PSG to pay the remainder of the taxation that Thiago Silva was due to pay in Italy.

Thiago Motta won’t sign a PSG extension – agent

Thiago Motta’s agent RadioGoal24 Alessandro Canovi has confirmed that his client will not be signing a contract extension with PSG, with his current deal expiring in 2017.

“Concerning PSG, the end of his contract is nearing and I don’t think he will extend. Will he return to Serie A? It depends, but I do not think that he will come back to this league. We are looking for other solutions, in Italy he has already done it all, he has won the league several times and he did the treble with Inter. At the age of 34 you live day by day, we are waiting for an exciting project but it is still very early.”

Barcelona Manager Luis Enrique Correctly Predicted their UCL Draw with PSG

The manager hit the nail on the head

“It’s not a complicated draw,” Luis Enrique said prior to the Champions League draw. “Pick the second most difficult team, or the one that has the most points, and that’s our team.”

The manager almost laughed. “There’s not any surprises anymore.”

The crazy thing is, he’s right. Barcelona drew Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, what was considered the consensus second-most difficult team after Bayern Munich that the Blaugrana could draw.

After peering deep into his trusted crystal ball, Luis Enrique correctly predicts Barça's #UCL last 16 opponents. https://t.co/oE1C67ZLwy

— FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) December 12, 2016

It’s also true that PSG had the most points of all second-place teams in the group stage, along with Bayern and Real Madrid (whom Barcelona couldn’t draw.)

But maybe it doesn’t take a soothsayer to predict this. Barcelona’s draws have become quite stale. The Catalans seem to draw the same two or three teams every year, and usually difficult ones at that.

Barcelona have drawn PSG four times in the last five seasons. And we are starting to see Manchester CIty every year. Arsenal is another one that seems to come up all the time. Back about 3-5 years ago, it was AC Milan every year. At least for the moment they’re not good enough to qualify for the Champions League, otherwise we’d see Milan every year again.

There’s a limited pool of teams, but why does Barcelona always get the same, rather difficult draws? It’s a mystery. It’s probably random, but even still, as Luis Enrique says, it’s so predictable it’s not particularly surprising...

Julian Draxler hesitating between PSG and Arsenal – representative

Speaking to Le Parisien, a source within German international Julian Draxler’s entourage had the following to say about the player’s transfer situation.

“Nothing is done. Julian is still hesitating between PSG and Arsenal. For the moment, he is thinking. A decision will be made in the coming days. One thing is certain, he has played his last match for Wolfsburg.”

PSG interested in Virgil Van Dijk

Ligue 1 champions PSG are interested in signing Southampton central defender Virgil Van Dijk, according to our colleagues at L’Équipe.

Les Parisiens are thought to be looking to sign a centre back next month, with currently just three on the books in Marquinhos, Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe.

However, the French newspaper states that the signing of Dutch international van Dijk would probably have to wait until the summer.

Internal disagreement over PSG’s pursuit of Ricardo Rodriguez

PSG manager Unai Emery and Director of Football Patrick Kluivert disagree on potentially signing Swiss international full-back Ricardo Rodriguez next month, according to L’Équipe.

Emery is understood to have proposed that Les Parisiens sign Rodriguez, with Maxwell set to depart for free this summer and with continuous injury worries for Layvin Kurzawa. However, Kluivert is not understood to be interested in signing this particular player.

Despite this, RMC report that PSG have entered into discussions with the player’s agent about the possibility of move next month.

Do you need van Dijk and Rodriguez? Seems with Kurzawa, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Kimpembe you have enough depth.

Do you need van Dijk and Rodriguez? Seems with Kurzawa, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Kimpembe you have enough depth.

At the start of the season, the initial plan was to have 4 reliable central defenders (specialists): 1. Thiago Silva 2. Marquinhos 3. David Luiz 4. Kimpembe.

David Luiz left the club at the end of the month August so I guess they want to replace David Luiz.

Van Djik is not a priority, just an option they consider for the next summer IMO.

In defence, the priority is certainly the replacement of the left-back Maxwell (35 years old) next summer.

Did P.S.G. really need Draxler? What they lack is a CF, albeit Cavani has scored well this season.

My Liverpool supporting, Klopp worshipping, boom-bust-in-human-form mate was banging on about them signing Draxler last night, IIRC (I was hammered). He was actually confident they'd be getting him as Mane's replacement when he goes to AFCON.

Laughed my chops off this morning when I read Draxler to PSG was a done deal.

Draxler Pastore Di Maria

Cavani

upfront?

Hard to speculate about Pastore, a prone-injury player who only played 5 games this season.

I see:

- Motta (sub: Krychowiak)
- Verratti
- Rabiot (sub:Matuidi)

To support Cavani, tough battle between Lucas (2nd best scorer), ADM and Draxler for the 2 remaining seats.

Josuha Guilavogui on Julian Draxler: “He has been dreaming about PSG.”
Speaking to Le Parisien, French defensive midfielder and Wolfsburg man Josuha Guilavogui gave his opinion on his now almost ex-team-mate Julian Draxler’s proposed move to PSG.

“At Wolfsburg, our relationship was bigger than just football, it was not only based on the pitch. And as since this summer, he had made the decision to leave, I am happy for him. To join PSG, it is something that is close to his heart. He dreamt of Paris, of PSG… Ligue 1 interests him. In the middle of October, he came to mine to watch PSG vs Marseille. He knows the players. For him, it is enormous to join PSG… French? He knows it roughly because he learnt it school. How good is here? He could not do an interview, but he understands a lot of words. Even some very complicated ones, it is surprising… I think that he will bring them his creativity. Whether in training or in the big matches, I have seen him achieve impressive things.”

Some reports say you're interested in Jésé, true story?
