Protest ideas - Ticket price increase

Can they get that in the stadium? I'd drape it over the seats and feck off at half time.
I think if anything is going to be done it's got to be by the ST holders and get a regular mass walk out or just not turn up.
Surely there's thousands that could get together to make it noticeable.
Obviously if the prices go up for you guys next season many will consider not buying again anyway so do something that will be noticed. They can't take a st off you if you don't want it in the first place.
When do you find out the price for the new season?

Nobody seems to know. The renewal email went out on the 5th February last season.

I don’t know if it was that one but there was a ‘Stop Exploiting Loyalty’ banner in the Stretford End for the Everton game this season. That was right after the ticket prices went up to £66 for the remaining games.

I don’t understand the whole walk out thing. What’s that going to cause? Surely it makes sense just for people not to turn up because walking out means you’ve already paid the club for the ticket so it ain’t going to affect anything. You’ve still paid the ridiculous price they put it to.

I imagine the vast majority of tickets are bought and paid for long in advance of the matches, so the money is already spent, no? In a situation where the money is already spent, turning up and then walking out probably sends a stronger message than not turning up at all since not turning up can be brushed off as traffic, accidents etc etc. Obviously the ideal protest would be to not buy the tickets at all, but that's not ever going to happen

If the tickets are bought and paid for, the walkout would send an ultimately pyrrhic victory.

Only in the pocket will the likes of Glazer feel defeated.

Boycotting games is pointless; the likelihood is that season tickets will be paid for up front, so minimal financial loss and it will be taken away to be replaced by someone on the waiting list.

I heard that some Liverpool fans did the opposite and refused to leave the ground when they were trying to get rid of Hicks & Gillette.

Our fan base is too accepting as a whole for anything to work IMO.

MUST are hoping to take the banner into the ground - not much time though and queues to get in are ridiculous nowadays.

At the moment this is just about publicity, time for more drastic action will depend on what is announced for ST prices next season.

Ticket demand has actually dropped significantly since the price rise to £66 (the team being shite obviously doesn't help either), hopefully this will be enough to make the club rethink any plans for huge rises next season.

if you leave the season ticket dormant a few times, they will take it off you now even though youve paid for it. Also dont think you can take banners into the stadium

Its better to do a sit it. Stay after the game so or cost them money

As far as I am aware permission is needed. A lot of banners up in OT are from fans with permission from the club.

Be very hard to sneak a banner like that in.

We had permission to take the banner in :

Was also picked up by various media including BBC, Guardian and The Athletic:

I can see my seats in this picture!

Well done to all that took part. Need more of this as I fear ST prices are about to sky rocket.

W210 Army!

I think there is something planned by The 1958 on Sunday, I don't know what exactly though as they are good at making noise on Twitter but not always as good at actually organising anything

Hope it goes well, need to ramp up the pressure on these scumbags

Not seen anything from the usual crowds that you'd actually need to make a protest work.

Well exactly - still they talk a good game on the socials!

Bit rich of them to talk about unity though when they have been unnecessarily divisive in the past by slagging off other fan groups.

What about instead of chanting and cheering. Everyone is dead silent.

They've somehow got to get the stadium as empty as possible for as long as possible for every home game. It needs to be noticed immediately especially when we're on TV so it's reported as much as possible and can't go unnoticed.

You're allowed to go to the toilet or get a drink at any time so why don't they do a mass toilet break and make it a long one in the first half and take as long as possible at half time then leave en-mass with 30 minutes to go oh and do it in silence too.
Also get all the ST holders and anyone else they can to be silent for as long as possible. No singing, nothing just silence. Maybe all the chants are the wrong thing to do because they don't listen to them anyway and so maybe silence can be heard more than the chanting? Imagine cheering the team on when they come out and then nothing but silence (as much as possible).

It's groundhog day - again

It's a start I suppose. Some kind of 15 minute boycott at the start of the match. would be my next step. At the very least, it would inconvenience them.

Any fan led campaign now needs to be very clear in what it wants and what it's prepared to do to achieve those aims. How far are individuals prepared to go?

In the short term, I'd argue that any fan led protests towards the Glazers/Ratcliffe should focus on ticket prices. An intense campaign to make them not increase the prices for next season. If they do increase them massively, the 1958/MUST should call for a full boycott of a full half before the end of the season. Then a full match if they ignore that.

Let's do nothing then. Seems to be working just fine!

I've been actively protesting the ownership since 2005. Boycots were the right call then - not now. We know it's not plausible for a number of reasons in modern OT.

The only protests that seemed to work were when fans got into the stadium and got the match against the scousers abandoned. The million dollar question is how to get their attention, but I feel that they’re so far removed from it all that they simply don’t care. They have their lackeys take the heat whilst they sit comfortable.

The only thing that will work is hitting their pockets to the extent that things can’t continue, but that would take some effort and a lot of sacrifice for a long period of time from the majority of match going fans.

Why not? My idea isn't a boycott anyway. Surely if you're attending the game they can't do anything. And how are they going to do anything if there's thousands doing it?

They will only leave once they can't take money out of the club anymore, simple as that. That's what they bought it for.

Yeah, pretty much. The rest is just noise. The only hope is that they will concede a bit on ticket prices etc, but I don’t think they will feel the pressure to do that unless fans just don’t take up the tickets.

It would have to be a good amount of fans which I doubt they'll get. Unfortunately these protests seem to have fizzled out post Super League and INEOS buy out.

Realistically, ticket prices should have been increased years before now. Wasn't there a freeze for many years?

There are many, many reasons for a protest. This isn't one of them.

I know people don’t see it the same way as I do but this is why I have been saying that the supporters need to hope INEOS can sort it out and go through with the purchase, as per their agreement with the Glazers. I think it’s the only way they go.

Let’s face it, they put the club “up for sale” and there were basically 2 interested parties, and only one seemed to be serious. I think in the short to medium term they’re our only hope of seeing the back of the Glazers.

Currently yes, looks to be the only route out. I personally didn't want a state owner, at the same time Ineos aren't a great option either, but I'd have them as full owners any day over the Glazers.

Does anyone else think they are deliberately leaving the season ticket renewals until as late as possible to minimise protests about an increase?
