Progressive CM or Striker

Goalkeeper to replace de Gea should be #1.

And then a striker who can rotate with Martial just capable of some hold up play. Memphis would be fine. Morata would be grand. Elanga and Ronaldo shouldn't be getting gametime and don't help in any way, and Rashford isn't a striker.

We can rotate Eriksen and Fred as the partner for Casemiro and both partnerships could be a very high level. Even Van de Beek an option. Its a next year problem IMO.

Basically, you can't play quality possession football if you have to tell your goalkeeper to hoof it up, and then if he's holding it, if you have nobody to hoof it to.
I agree but I think it's a tactical issue, even though de Gea is not really good with his feet, you can tell him to pass the ball quick and start attacks slowly but up until now we didn't have anyone to receive the ball under pressure and play from the back.

Casemiro will provide more steel than ever, the two confident centerbacks can then take the ball to midfield, occasionally Fred can drop in from the no8 at times or Eriksen obviously even though we have seen how risky it can be. This will not work 100% though so we will need a plan b and that's a hoof to the front to the combative no9 and then the right mental set up for the other midfielders to help him to win the second balls.

So after Casemiro IMO it's essential to have a sharp combative no9.

Then we will see if anyone is available in the winter. But should be a progressive midfielder but it will be difficult to get midway to the season. Then RB and GK, but after Dubravka on loan I don't think we will bring anyone for that position unfortunately..

Depends which is the right player. We don’t just need bodies.

If the right CF is available get them. If the right CM is available get them.

I feel the right CM for us though is FDJ so can see the club bookmarking him and going for a CF.

Yes we’ve lost the midfield battles this season but a quick reminder being we now have Casemiro.

A lot will depend on Ronaldo too.

Who do you think is the right CF

I like Jonathan David but there’s no links sadly.

Essentially someone quick, good at link up play and effective at pressing. Obviously they need to be able to finish, or at least have good potential to develop.

I feel like the striker market is pretty thin right now, whereas there are a few suitable midfielders we can bring in for a reasonable price.

You need both bad.

I think if Ronaldo stays then a cm would benefit the team more and if he leaves a striker should be priority.

Yeah think you are actually spot on, could only afford a Dembele/Depay type at CF this window

I wish we'd just raid Espanyol for both.

RDT for CF. Great at keeping the ball under pressure, brilliant link-up play, good playmaker when dropping deep, is a goal scorer.

Darder for CM. One of the most press resistant midfielders in the world, fantastic playmaker, versatile in that he's good as a 6, 8 or 10, and is a goal threat, too.

Both in their prime, and wouldn't cost too much.

What's the deal with Arthur Melo, looked brilliant a few years back and now he's linked to Valencia.

What's happened.

If ronaldo does not leave then surely we should be going all out for a great cm partner for casemiro, it's just as a real shame it has taken so late into the window after suffering two bad defeats to kick the director and manager into the necessary action needed to upgrade the first 11.

It seems that the responses here are weighted towards another CM, and the arguments are all convincing! But our striker options right now are just depressing that I would say we desperately need a new starting number 9 to have a chance of finishing in the top 4.

At least with CM we have a few options that are experienced in the league and decent enough. Ericksen, McT, Fred, and possibly even VdB could all look slightly improved, I hope, next to Casimero. But at striker we have a 37 year old who can't sprint and doesn't look too bothered about the manager's instructions, and that is pretty much it.

Rashford just isn't a lead the line striker, and even a fully fit Martial no injuries is questionable. People are optimistic based off preseason form and his half against Liverpool, but my pessimism won't let me look beyond his past few seasons where he was simply awful, repeatedly, despite whoever we had in charge.

Striker for me. No real depth or quality there.
As for midfield, I think we we could get by with having Fred/Eriksen/Bruno as a ball progressor. Striker? When Martial is injured(like now) we're don't have anyone who can hold up the ball and score

Centre forward for me. Feels like a massive waste of creative wingers like Antony and Sancho to not have someone reliable on the end finishing.
It won’t be pretty but I think we can at least get something competitive out of Casemiro, Fred, McTominay, Eriksen and Bruno for the short term.

Top quality striker. Goals win games. Martial is the only CF we have.

Would like a CM but reasonably content going into the season with Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes, plus McTominay, Fred, Van de Beek in reserve.

I fully expect massive improvements from the recruitment team come the next transfer window. They can ill afford to feck around like they did this time as the fans and media will be on their backs.
1 or 2 weeks into the next window and I expect a handful of singings to be finalized.

Casemiro is only there to break up play. He's not your Carrick type quarter back to dictate anything. We still need a playmaker to compliment Casemiro's strengths.

That player might be Eriksen but if he's fecked then we're back to McFred.

Striker. We are very thin up front, Martial's fitness isn't reliable, and generally there isn't enough goals in this team.

Since De Jong isn't happening (even though i still hope it will) and if we count Antony and Dubravka as done deal then my hope of us signing anyone else is not big at the moment. But i still think that we need a RB, a CM and a CF. The dream would be Hakimi, De Jong and Osimhen (i know that there is 0% chance of us getting them, I'm just dreaming myself away) since those are the names that media is reporting everyday. IF, somehow, in another world we got them three, we would be fighting for 2-3 place, maybe even 1st with some luck.

-------------------De Gea
Hakimi Varane Martinez Malacia
------------------Casemiro
-----------Bruno----------De Jong
-----Antony Osimhen Sancho

This team, on paper, is as good as any. Even our bench would be stacked with good players.

----------------Dubravka
--Dalot Maguire Lindelöf Shaw
---------------McTominey
----------Fred----------Eriksen
-----Elanga Martial Rashford

But Hakimi is valued around 70m, De Jong 75m and Osimhen 80m + Ronaldo and we won't spend another 225m euro.
IF we could sell Maguire for 35m, McTominey 25m, Wan Bissaka 30m and include Ronaldo for Osimhen + 80m then that would be no-brainer. Also Napoils president said yesterday that he would love having Ronaldo in his team and he or Napolis trainer said it's "only" 99% sure that Osimhen would play in Italy next year. So the muppet in me still believe that it can happen and if the selling of Maguire, McTominey and Was Bissaka + including Ronaldo in deal could cover all costs for the transfer and save us huge money with getting rid of 2 massive wager and 2 pretty high then it would be HUGE W for Manchester United - in all ways.

Why cant the Glazers just for once invest some of there own money and at least try to show the supporters that are serious about trying to make this club a powerhouse and a team to count on. With these investments we would be able to rotate and compete in all cups + league and have fresh legs every match. But back to reality, this will not happen but i just had to put in down in words, basically what another 200m could got get us. It would be a huge statement for everybody, that Manchester United is back and going all in for once.

Other then my dream, i don't believe that there is time for another big transfer and ETH has been clear that he only wants players that can make an impact imminently and those transfers take time. Players like Tielemans or Navas would be easier to solve but i don't Tielemans is what we need and Navas would cost a lot as well, so i cant come up with a CM that suits the profile we are looking after. Same with RB, rumors about Dest and Munier, neither one of them would be a direct upgrade. CF pretty much the same, only one i might be curious about is Depay, and that is we can get hiim for max 10m euros and put him on a contract mostly based on his performances and not to long (2+1y) - other then him, i cant come up with one that is good enough, price is acceptabel and that the player is available.

What do you guys think of it? Share you thoughts please and would love a "LIKE" (need 2 more for full member) if you agree or at least would like the idea of my potential transfers.

I would have been tempted by Ivan Toney earlier in the window, I will get lambasted but I think he has potential to improve with a move to a bigger club
