Pro Cycling 2020 **Giro d'Italia 2020 **

Martin was pounding it on the TTT, so he could easily surprise quite a few people tomorrow. It's a pretty weak TT field, so he'll be in the mix anyway. Thomas, van Aert, Martin, Küng, Asgreen, Oliveira, Kragh Andersen, Dowsett and Kruijswijk will all be in the top 15 finishers tomorrow, I reckon.

ITT should always be the penultimate stage of the stage. A complete joke watching some of these TT specialists today.

So sad for Van Aert, but I'm not sure he would have beaten De Gendt. I was born and raised in the same small town as De Gendt, he's a genuine good guy, great sense of humor.

I hate to see people in the middle of the road like that.

Why do the French always suck on TTs (Pinot apart)?

That's not really the case, Alaphillipe is good. Jalabert was excelllent, like Coppel or Chavanel.

Bardet is not good representation of French tbh. He is just suck and has been shoehorn into Tour by many without so much success.

It's reported that Van Aert has a big cut on the leg.

Well, the locals will be delighted that a Frenchman is leading the race.

Is he good enough to win it, or is Thomas just playing the waiting game?

I think that he is the best rider in the circuit but grand tours are different, he doesn't have a team built for him and at the moment he is too much of a puncheur.

Meant the GC guys in the last 10-12 years. Always seem to be in decent position before a TT and then blowing it. But then again it might just be Bardet being extraordinary bad year after year.

Not counting Ala because I don't see him as a GC candidate yet (although would love it if he somehow won).

The issue is more that France barely had good GC guys during that period of time, it's basically Rolland, Bardet, Pinot and Péraud. The first two are pure climbers while the latters are good on TT.

Right enough of this Alaphilippe nonsense. He must think he's Thomas Voeckler.

Well, ok let's see how he fairs with the big boys in the mountains. He may just do it too. #Believe

I'm very skeptical, he is extremely versatile but high mountain seems to be a too much, particularly when desperate climbers will probably try to create havoc.

I jest but you never know. He's such a brilliant rider. I think it will be too much and fully expect him to drop off the back and lose big time today but let's see!

Thomas looks super strong, he looks like the man to beat. Looking for a big ride from the likes of Kwiato and Poels today.

Yep, if you referring to what I think you are ( I didn't see it live), I wanted to punch his lights out. Get the feck out of the road you plonker!

Expect a big commotion today. First big mountain finish and Alaphillippe certainly has lit up this Tour.

Voeckler vs Ala is a daft comparison. Former is just a journeyman compared to the latter.

Christ, it's a joking reference to when Voeckler wore the yellow Jersey to stage 14 of the tour!! You were probably in nappies?

2004 right? That was an epic effort by Voeckler. Probably held it for ten stages.

Erm, bolded part was kind of why I didn't quote you. Seen that comparison many times over the past days and people have been suggesting that Alaphilippe is 'just another Voeckler', which is just madness. Voeckler would probably never get into this QS team.

Fair enough mate. All good fun. :)

Yeah, the only reason Alaphillipe is in this team is because he can win stages without support. Otherwise the team is built for Viviani while Mas can play the individual ranking.
