Preseason Tour Game 4: Man Utd v Liverpool (ICC, Saturday 28th July 22:05 BST)

Good first half in the main. Some wobbly defending, especially from Demi unfortunately, but on the whole a decent preseason workout.

The counter attack has been positive for us, when we've committed we've put Liverpool under pressure. Were Mata were quicker, and didn't need to go early, one of those offsides would've been a goal. Good signs for when we get the likes of Lukaku back.

Andreas has again been the standout. Really showing how much we've missed a Carrick style player who can pick forward passes.

Grant is a very good keeper. Didn't expect him to be that good. Could have been a starter in any other team.

At least GK is the only position we're in no worry of.

Liverpool have been the better side.

But I am happy with the side that's playing. Good fightback. Andreas can be our Modric!

The defence that is out there,,it's okay for them to get run ragged by this Liverpool side. Good experience for them lot.

Darmian is in Italy. Like the look of Mitchell, might be a good replacement for Ashley Young as 2nd left back?

Its preaseason.
Its still Liverpool. Every player has to be up for such a game preseason or not. Look at how Mourinho is talking to the ref and the players arguing and complaining. Hardly seems like a friendly game.

McTominay has looked like a very limited player every time I've seen him play regardless of the kind of game.

He has been played as a 6 all preseason. I don't know why people look at what a website says rather than watching the matches.

That’s what I thought. Wish I could watch but I’m really happy to hear he’s playing well. Think he could be special for us if given the proper opportunity.

not even on a level of Darron Gibson or Ben Pearson. Incredible luck and who knows what got him to the first team, he was even shit for U21, playing striker because he was big and couldnt pass the ball then they moved him to midfield for some reason. will be lucky to make it in the championship if he gets offloaded that's how bad he is not sure why we cant try out Hamilton for instance

we are blessed to have so many talented scouts and youth team coaches on this forum

You can't keep using this as an excuse for playing badly.
You are implying that if you have 2 months off, you completely forget basic footballing skills, which is not the case.

You actually can since you can't extrapolate how players on what is basically a working holiday will fare during the actual season.

That’s how I saw it too.

And the two wingbacks are weakest links. Mitchell might be useful on the final third, but can't defend. As for Darmian, he can't even impersonate a professional footballer any more. What a fall from grace for an Italian international.

Its been a decent half. The players will get a lot more out of this than other pre-season games, with it being a little more competitive. We look open at the back, but I'm not too concerned with that. In a league game against Liverpool we'll play nothing like this, trying to play out from the back and inviting the high-press from Liverpool.

Pereira and Sanchez again standing out. Looking forward to seeing how they do at the start of the season. Alexis in particular will be so important for us once the season starts.

Pereira should really be taking McTominay's role in the squad this year. I guess the problem is that he's not quite good enough defensively, so he won't be brought on late into a game to close out a win. He should be starting all the League Cup games though, giving a rest to Fred/Pogba.

Martial's partner chose the worst time to give birth  I'm a bit worried for the start of the season with Mata and Sanchez as the only match fit senior forwards.

Would love to see Gomes, Fred, Greenwood and Garner in the second half.

Hard to expect anything different really. 3 rookies, Darmian and Bailly in front a new keeper against their two best players. Bailly is a fierce defender, but he's not exactly an organiser at the back for these youngsters.
I'm not complaining and didn't really expect much else.

No they don't. They're on a working holiday in the states. A bit of training, matchplay, and sightseeing.

It's decent so far. It's hard to judge us because we miss so many players... One thing is certain though, Darmian and McTominay are so limited footballers I don't even know how did they manage to play a single game for us  One will end up in Italy and another one in Championship soon.

no reason why Pereira shouldn't get a good chance this season - he's ready

Pool doing what they do all season. Long ball over to try and Find Salah. So predictable they’re going to struggle big time trying to get away with that all season again. If we played like that the usual clowns would be slaying us at every opportunity.

Fabinho looks like an inferior bakayoko.

The speed of TFM and Tuanzebe is astounding. Making Salah look like slug.

Not bad at all considering the hodgepodge of players available.

Pereira, Poggers and Fred in midfield against Leicester please.

He's played well all preseason but we have to qualify that with the fact that it is preseason though. He's been the player of the tour in my opinion.
