Premier League Matchday 21 (January 1-3)

We had three cleared off the line. Think City deserved the win though.

When you pinging long balls after long balls, you can always cause chaos. City looked nervous as feck the entire game so I am not surprised.

All I am saying is that for your supposed brand of attacking football, it was nowhere to be seen tonight. Just constant hoofball for 90 mins.

I hope you enjoyed your cup final win Manchester United.

I love Bernardo Silva, guy is the hardest working midget I've ever seen.
Fernandinho was immense.
Shit game but felt we shaded it.

We still look devoid of confidence and Liverpool looked ropey for the first time today. Why does Lovren play ahead of Matip?

Liverpool's first league defeat of the season at a pivotal moment in the title race. If that doesn't build confidence in your players nothing ever will.

It's boom-bust time.

I dont think Ive ever seen a team make City look that nervy.
Worryingly liverpool have a pretty decent team.
TBF their back line was kind of makeshift though. Also, they were under immense pressure, psychology plays a role too

RAWK
Poor performance really - feels like a massive missed opportunity. All the key moments went against us.
If we go on to win the league this game will be forgotten but if we don't then this will be looked back on as the moment the tide turned. I just hope that this team is strong enough mentally to recover.
That was our biggest test of the season so far and we've failed. Absolutely gutted.

sniff

Liverpool just can't get enough proper control of games against the big sides. They don't have the players for it.

City are very good, like most Guardiola teams are, but are they that great individually? I don't think so.

I'd love to see either get drawn against Barcelona in the CL. Then we'd see how good they really are.

Certainly not all time greats like Messi/Iniesta/Xavi types for certain.
But a number of players bubbling under, like De Bruyne, plus Sane with massive potential.

Thought the game plan worked well until Aguero's bit of class. Disappointed with how open the midfield was for the second goal.

I could moan about megamind's red card challenge, but it happens in football and we had the Mahrez bit of luck earlier in the season. Fair play to City - it's hard for any team to win there and two bits of class won them the game. We were unfortunate not to take the lead but fine margins and all that shit. Title race will go to the wire it seems.

Yup we have to show some balls now and recover. On the plus side it looks like Pep has finally got to grips with Klopp finally. We were the better team in both games this season albeit marginally. No longer getting destroyed by Liverpool is nice.

'Bubbling under' is a bit of a stretch, but I get what you mean.

Possibly the opposite, Liverpool aren’t stupid and they will be able to take some positives from that, in how nervy City were and how they clung on. City needed to bury them in goals today to have any lasting effect and for me they were lucky to come away with all 3 points.

City had more of the ball, played better football and created the most clear cut chances. They were unlucky not to score more and clearly deserved to win.

They've ridden their luck in the big games this year. Chelsea late equaliser, Mahrez missing the late pen at Anfield.
Good to see the luck hasn't totally continued with the Stones clearance.
