Premier League - Matchday 19

I'd imagine RedCafe is a far better option and forum than Arsenal Mania or wherever they all are, but Arsenal fans do spend a huge amount of time on here. Their own forums must be exceptionally poor
I mainly come here for the light hearted banter, the excellent CE forums, the fact the forum layout is readable and not full of spam ads, the quality of posters and despite the rivarly and beneath the tribalism some good posts.

The fact Redcafe hosts droves of rival fans shows its quality as a forum. I post now and then on Arsenal forum as well but I have been a lurker here since 2008.

To add, I watch United games every week (unless it clashes with our game) as my best friend is a United fan so I have an affinity with United (and a massive feeling of tribalism rivalry ofcourse) and I am maybe more clued up on your team than other rival fans as I watch most United games when I can.

Fair enough! There is a significant amount of rival fans on here so clearly the Caf is doing something well.

Mate too far behind, they win one more we will be 9 behind. We have mucked up too many games. Liverpool have Villa, Chelsea and City away but let's be honest they will batter atleast 2 of them.
Liverpool's final 6 fixtures are quite tricky if they haven't got over the line.

I'd argue that the other teams are getting better.

I disagree mate.years back mid table teams had some unbelievable players. Portsmouth Defoe, Crouch, Diarra . Bolton Anelka, Speed, Okocha . Blackburn had Santa Cruz , Pederson, Tugay? People forget how strong the overall league was.

The league was definitely stronger back in the day. Our treble side won the league with 79 points!

Second most goals in the league, the highest last 12 months. The total disrespect though understandable as a rival forum.
I watch almost every Arsenal game.

I think what annoys people is the narrative around the team. It feels like Arsenal is the greatest team ever, powered by the power of friendship and the genius Arteta, which never spent money and plays the most entertaining football ever.

In reality, since the last part of last season, Arsenal have been a laborious team, using set pieces to unlock games before proceeding to playing football, and resort to a lot of shithousery during games

That being said, Arsenal play mostly good football and deserve to be where they are

FFS!!!!!!

it should be an automatic fine for anyone who barges into an opponents back when they're facing their own cornerflag.

Oh how I hate that shit. How stupid can you possibly be? Why do they still do this? I mean, Jesus Christ!

I can confirm this is the case.

Last couple of games showed that Chelsea aren’t ready to compete yet (new GK and CB probably needed) but also that Arsenal can. They are only ones capable of stopping Liverpool though unfortunately Liverpool are the favourites.

Would like nothing more than United to help Arsenal on Sunday but it’s obviously so unlikely. Even if we weren’t so poor atm Anfield is our worst away game - last time United scored a gosl there was December 2018 (Mourinho’s last game), last win was January 2016. Few goalless draws but other than that defeats.

Amorim needs to start turning loses into draws first and squeeze max points out of this squad. Once season is over he can refresh the squad. This is something Arteta did initially as Arsenal squad was beyond repair. Loosing all games will not help Amorim or the squad mentally.

Genuinely don't know why every other team in the League doesn't just copy what Arsenal do and push and shove every keeper they face.
They're starting to.

Did you see Palace's 1st goal against Southampton? Mateta stiff-arms Ramsdale in the throat as he's going for the ball and VAR just say fair game.

They may be starting do, look at Palace's 1st goal against Southampton. Also the Brighton/Aston Villa saw a penalty given to Villa even though Hurzeler felt Verbruggen was getting blocked

Not sure why the usual corner corner complaints today? Their GK touched the ball, fumbled the touch, there was a massive scramble and Merino luckily was standing there unmarked and pounced on it.

Should be the end of United's goal scoring trouble then! As seems easy enough to do. Maybe the break Amorim was looking for.

I wonder if the refs in the CL are also in league with us when it comes to fouls? Or maybe.....the honest truth is we just happen to be good at some superb deliveries which most players can't give and very lucky to have excellent headers in Gabriel and Saliba.

Chelsea finishing top 4 was always going to be a good season for them and they have work to do yet for that. As for Arsenal will be 2nd at best for them again, finished 3 and 5 points behind Man City in 1st the last two seasons and they moaned it wasn't fair with City's advantages. No City this season to finish 1st but Arsenal will likely finish further behind Liverpool come the end of this season.

On the face of it Brentford have an impressive home record this season but when you look at who they’ve played, it’s not surprising.

Ipswich, Southampton, Leicester, Wolves, Palace, Bournemouth and Newcastle are who their wins have come against at home.

Feels like their home and away form might even out as the season progresses.

The side under Jose got more points than the Treble team.I can never understand how people think that the league is stronger now. Chris Wood is on double figures this season. Shows how bad this current United squad is.

Treble side fecked around for half season than decided to get serious and shred the league in the second half. Then proceeded to do graphic things to the league the following season

Arteta's greatest sin is not investing enough in Arsenal's forward line. You can understand that its difficult to get in good players up front, but that lack of investment is a reason Arsenal are so dull and boring.

Another reason is that teams deliberately play in a midblock against Arsenal, this happens in 90% in games, even Inter at home in the Champions League.

Another, less obvious reason, unless you watch Arsenal regularly, is that Arsenal are too slow in forcing transitions. You hardly see direct passing in game as you would see Liverpool do for example. That is coaching from Arteta.

This is why Arsenal resort to techniques like set pieces to shake teams out of their midblock... and then go on to wipe the floor with them. Think West Ham, think Sporting, think Palace, think Brentford even once the game got to 1-1.

Arsenal need at least two players upfront. Isak and one of Nico Williams or Omar Marmoush are those two players. We also need a carrier centrally who can play as a forward as well. Matheus Cunha or Joao Pedro are those players for me.

Once Arsenal have killers in forward areas, they will not only outscore teams but they will suffocate them in possession and kill them at set pieces as well.
