Premier League Gameweek 36-37

Two footed lunge catching the standing foot..

quite possibly the worst tackle that can be made...

really lucky the Brentford player is fine.

Commentator just said because they're straight red cards neither will play again,

Not true for the first one, mere one game.

Worst type of challenge yes, but you see way worse than that Rondo one, proper sprinting lunges that clock someone.

His lunge was a sort of sit himself down and wave a leg.

Iwobi trying to dribble past when there was a five yard pass there

That's Everton's 7th Red card this season. Reckon they'll survive in the end but they badly need this season to end.

Oh yeah.. there wasnt too much force behind that.. if it was at the end of a sprint, we wouldve seen a broken leg.
The point was, there is absolutely no reason to be making a tackle that way.. and even with that force, it couldve been a really bad injury.. you can almost see the leg buckle in slow mo.. horrible to look at.

Agreed. Absolutely dimwitted beyond belief.

People keep saying this but I can see them dropping both games
Leeds will still need a win against Brentford..
last home game for Brentford.. wont be easy.. a draw for Leeds wont be enough.

Everton really should be fine..

Yeah but Burnley and Leeds would need to win theirs, and I think that's unlikely

Burnley could survive with a couple of draws, but yeah, Leeds need to win their game against Brentford for Everton to go down now.

When Lampard was hired, Everton was 4 points above the drop. And now four months later with only 2 matches remaining, Everton are only 2 points above the drop.

Still think they are safe, but he's been gash.

Lampard was very naive after we went 2-1 up and when it went to 2-2. We could have salvaged a point at least but he was too slow to make changes.

really farcical refereeing again though. It’s rank that managers and players have to keep quiet when referees put in shocking performances. We had two deserved red cards but to not give us a pen in the first half for blatant shirt pulling and to not send the fella off for the other penalty foul meant the 1st red happened and Frank could take off the lad at half time.

Just absolute shite. For as bad as we have been this season that’s 3 or 4 games that the referees have committed blatant errors that have changed the course of games/points for us.

City fan here is entitled to his opinion, not sure it adds more weight to use it.
I just find it amusing how some think they can predict when/if a player will miss a pen. It's confirmation bias and nothing else

Agreed. How does a City fan's opinion who has watched City more add weight about a City player. :wenger:

Burnley v Villa on Thu, right before Villa play City in the final game against City so I can see Gerrard playing a weakened team and low intensity to be 100% for the City game ( with the added bonus that Everton may get shafted).

There really needs to be an inquiry into the refereeing levels this season, it's getting worse.

I'm not sure Leeds & Everton fans would be too happy if he did that.

Not necessarily true, Palace will likely fight for 10th place in the table.

To my point, towards the end of the season, people underestimate the motivation of mid-table clubs. Leicester didn't really have much to play for, today, but they thrashed Watford 1-5

I wrote a longer post about the 6 teams that would be scrapping for the psychological effect of ending the season in the top half of the table rather than the bottom half in the FPL conversation, this week.

WH are one of those teams in the league who serve no purpose but to “feck shit up” for other clubs. They will never win anything of note, yet will stop others. They are nothing but a troll club. Moyes is perfectly suited to them.

I still remember how they randomly turned up against us when LvG was in charge to deny us top four.

Don’t know if he’s been entirely unsuccessful and they’ll most likely stay up.
I’m no fan of Lampard or Everton for that matter, but theres been an improvement, particularly in their home form in the past month beating Chelsea, Leicester Newcastle and Utd.

Should be a brilliant final day of the season next week. League potentially decided, 4th place and Europa League/Conference league decided as well as the final relegation.

Take a shot everytime Martin Tyler mentions permutations!

He has a 74% conversion rate.

Curiously a big proportion of his pens come in games with four or more goals.

Seven penalties of his 20 scored have come in games where his team has battered the other team.

Curiously the misses have come in games with a much closer scoreline.

Ok I see where you're coming from. Although in some of those high scoring games the pen came when the game was in the balance but agree it's not a convincing pattern.
