Premier League Gameweek 30-32

Swear west ham look like they thought there was at least 20 minutes left. No urgency to get players forward

How is Newcastle being closer to us a good result?
We’ve a game in hand 4 points clear and they’ve still got to play Spurs.

They lose today and there’s not much to play for in the next few league games.

This is a massive result for if we can beat Brentford, opens up a 6 point gap from the chasing pack

Is it though? We either finish qualifying for the CL or we are in the doldrums, 6-7-8 it's all the same, with the caveat that no Europa is better than Europa.

Not sure the owners or players think that. It is fans who think it. Players like playing in Europe end of.

 I feel quite sorry for Philips camera on him there, come in 3-1 up as a midfielder to help shut up shop and then lose 4-3 in 20 mins. Oh man

I wish I could confidently believe that we will capitalise on this.

There's more chance Newcastle finish above us than we catch Spurs.

Froze every time he had the ball and completely disrupted their flow. Agent Phillips.

Newcastle have Everton at home on Tuesday, so should get through that, but have a tricky game at Fulham next Saturday. Our games are awkward, Brentford away today, away at Chelsea on Thursday and then home to Liverpool on Sunday. It will show us what we are made of if nothing else.

If I was in ten Hag's position - assuming he'd stay on - I'd prefer to gut the team and only have the league to focus on with ample time to develop the style of play, not just for the first 11 but the younger players you'd like to bring in to the fold. Europa League is a major distraction from that. But I'm sure the owners and the players would prefer some European football to none, and the modest cash it brings.

Has anyone ever answered a ‘where does this rank for you’ question with anything other than ‘its right up there’?

Agree about the manager, but it hasn't exactly lit up Chelsea's season having no European football. It has helped Spurs. Chelsea has been a bit of a basket case though.

I guess i mean that its less of a worry who's chasing us and we can concentrate on doing the chasing. I think Luton will get a result at Spurs today..

It helped getting one of the worst penalty decisions I’ve ever seen. Imagine attempting to clear out a ball and someone gets their leg in the way and they call you for the foul and the ref goes along with it with no spine to think for himself.

BT are running them close.
Astro went down so watched on Sky Sports NZ and both had same commentator, Tony Gale, so presume it was him pissing everyone off.

The other annoying commentary thing, apart from the massive pro-Newcastle bias, was them boring on about 'the Premier League is great' schtick.

It was an entertaining game for the neutrals to be fair. Not sure West Ham fans would be too chuffed with it though.

Standards? we're 6th chasing top 4. I think my standards are just about right considering how shite we've been this season.

That's our reality. Don't celebrate it. Don't celebrate a top 4 finish. As a fan demand a title challenge until it comes.

Those are our standards at the moment. We have three tricky games coming up, get through them with good results and it should stand us in good stead for finishing the season.
Exactly. These "have some standards" posts from people just shows how much they're in denial about where we are right now, our standards aren't what the used to be, either adjust your expectations or prepare to be disappointed

I stuck up for him earlier but his weakness is trying to shut up shop when they have a team on the ropes. It usually backfires on him.

You see it from him so many times. He has a frail Newcastle pinned back and their defence is atrocious. This easily could be 4-1 if he doesn’t make his changes.

Just gives up any kind of pressures and concedes complete control to a team in bad form that he has on the ropes.

The number of points and opportunities he has thrown away over the years is staggering and he never changes.

Chelsea is a pretty bad case to compare to given their scattergun approach to transfer under that greasy American. Not that I rate Poch, I really don't, but that job is very tricky given the hierarchy. Now Spurs is a much better example to compare to, as their manager has clearly wanted to streamline that squad and uses a core of players throughout the season developing a clear style of play. He wouldn't have been able to do that this season had he been in at Chelsea.
