Fair enough. I think there are some situations where your logic may not hold, such as those 1 on 1's where the keeper comes out and gets a slight touch on the ball.Im weighing up 2 things. The amount of contact Lamptey gets on the ball, and the amount of contact Lamptey gets on the player in the same motion.
First 1 is minimal, 2nd 1 isn’t. There’s other examples of things I think we’ve benefited from, such as the Odegaard handball at Anfield, this isn’t 1 of them to me.
It's kind of like unless the keeper fully gathers it / knocks it away strongly, then it's a pen because the follow through will more likely than not be stronger than the contact on the ball, yet often even a slight touch is seen as mitigation. But keepers get weird protection anyway so maybe that explains that.
