Premier League Gameweek 3

Looks a pen in slow motion on VAR but there would be a pen on every ball into the box if that is given.

The intensity from Joelinton to create that was fantastic, makes me hate our group of lazy shites even more.

Apparently I just watch the right games because people say he's inconsistent, but ASM is unplayable every time I watch Newcastle.

Newcastle give me hope that we can get back to our glory days.

Liverpool haven’t even won a game yet. City need to lose at least one otherwise we end up with this u defeated nonsense.

They'll very likely win one tomorrow. So if City lose, that's a mere 1 point difference.

No idea what on earth this bolded bit means?

Welcome to the PL Haaland! 8 touches last game. How many has he had this half so far?

No there wouldn't tbh, a contact like that doesn't happen that regularly

We're going to have this every week aren't we?

City win, and rack up goals, Haaland is brilliant etc etc.

Tight game, oooh it's like having 10 men etc.
Such a kneejerk.

How tf do you explain this not being a pen. Not even looked at..
stuff like this is so frustratingly inconsistent.

If that’s maguire doing it you can guarantee it’s an instant penalty

21. He's been way more involved in the game this week. If Foden rolls the ball to him, it's 0-2, and they're cruising.

This is what could happen if you attack city. You’ll get goals… teams that sit back are trying to keep the score as low as possible rather then going for the win.

You love to see it
I said at the beginning of the game that if you can figure out working the ball into the space Walker is meant to be (full back) you'll get joy.

Now easier said than done but with Halaand they have a player less in build up so are more likely to turnover the ball, which really helps Newcastle.

The level of officiating for the first 3 games of this season has been atrocious. Var went from only rarely changing the referees decision to being completely useless except for offside calls.

Dont read redcaf opinions if you want to know anything about a player. For some reason loads here dont rate him.

He never had good stats but he played in a negative team with bad players. He is a very good player and also very fun to watch.

The Premier League is a difficult league, particularly away from home. This is why a good team needs to focus on ensuring that they have a system to consistently control home games. If not, you don't know what might be thrown at you away from home.

St Max feels like a player you can use in any team and system whereas Sancho feels like a player who needs to be put in specific context in order to shine

Yeah it shows why context matters and also the players individual abilities, he was playing with Joelinton and Almiron up front neither who can finish, and a crap midfield and still stood out and created chances that other players didn't finish. Conversely the opposite to Sancho who was never explosive / a great dribbler but had good stats playing in a high scoring team in a league that was poor defensively.

A mistake I think we'll be repeating with Anthony due to him looking good in a poor Dutch league.

In a very solid way, without stacking the team with dodgy stars joining for the payday

Yep, easy to go that route, add a ton of egos, and be a disjointed mess wasting money. Howe is a very good coach, did a great job at Bournemouth before the inevitable downturn began because of financial reality.

Is there an inside joke, or some sort of obvious tactical ingenuity from both Potter and Howe playing 6ft5 Dan Burn as a LB?

People kept comparing ASM to Traore even though ASM was clearly levels above and a far bigger threat.

Would love him here, one of the most decisive players in the league.

Excellent first half from Newcastle. Taking the game to City and exposing that high line they like to use. It’s the blueprint as to how to play (and sometimes beat) this City, only trouble is not enough teams are brave enough to give them a fight.
