Premier League - Gameweek 15

Should be a pen really.
Ref warned him once. I think if he doesn't disguise it a little better in the second half he might be in trouble. He's not even pretend to look at the ball or letting go at any point - just straight up rugby at the moment. He's such a unit as well, it properly stands out when he's roughing someone up.

He's afraid of making the block because the attacker can dummy the shot and cut inside and make the defender look silly.

Some defenders would rather watch the opposition take a clean shot at goal unchallenged than risk getting beaten. VVD does this too.
In fairness it was some finish and probably a much lower xG than getting done on the inside sliding across.

It's a hard one for the CB but sometimes the best just gamble and get it right.

I wouldn't have bothered warning him. It's just a penalty. Zero intent to do anything other than to take the man out. Just the idea of spotting a foul, but choosing to warn the offender instead of actually making a decision is such a bizarre concept.

I kind of agree with you, but in the same vein how many of the Arsenal players are there to do the same thing in the box?

Fulham players already aware of this corner routine from Arsenal despite them losing the clearance, don’t know how arsenal can sustain it through the rest of the season, but hopefully sooner than later teams will suss them out.
Aged well

Funny arteta was replying to Amorim and saying they can score many ways. Bet 90% of their goals are set pieces

Any reason sky not showing the lines for that offside?

The set-piece stuff will be sussed and then the shiny-Stoke will be rumbled

Saka is just so good at the basics and makes the right decisions. Get half a yard and whip it in. Catch a defender slacking and cut in and shoot.

The thing is, the set pieces are 100% saving them at this point. Their actual attacking play is incredibly bland and predictable at this point and certainly isn't the sort of level you'd expect of a title contender.

He’s also really good at low percentage crosses that’ll hit a defenders leg and go out for corners.

Amorim mentioned it midweek.

Set piece FC. Very boring team to watch

well, you decided to have a pop at Neville out of nowhere
Just thought it's funny that we could go from Neville (who gives it the big Ooooooh every time a United defender makes a tackle in the box as though it should be a pen, says we "got away with one" almost every time one of our players makes a yellow card tackle, and clearly just doesn't like some of our players - especially Bruno) to Sutton who just genuinely and obviously hates us.

Don't get me wrong, Arsenal are no Saints from these set pieces. Just call a foul a foul is my view.
That's the thing though. The pushing and blocking Arsenal are doing isn't being penalised. Therefore it has to be fair game for the defending team, no?

Why don't more teams do it?

Agreed. Though you do actually have to make a decision one way or another. Not just observe the foul and do nothing.

Rice's set piece delivery is ridiculously good. Nobody is putting them in with the quality that he does.
