Premier League Gameweek 13

Liverpool may drop some of those away points. But we could get something against Arsenal too.
Probably won't.
Every chance of giving City a going over though.

I'd take that deal, narrow defeat v Arse, beat City away!

Imho a vet good keeper, arguably better than Ederson

Kelleher has been in good form but before this I thought Ortega was easily the best number 2 in the league, good enough to start for many teams.

Hope he moves from City to get more first team opportunities again, though, as he said in a recent interview, he's had plenty of games for City since he joined. Still hasn't gotten the recognition he deserves.

At least we’ve got many months to get used to Liverpool winning the
league.
They don't feel as good as that season they won nearly every game and it was inevitable - in covid days.
It's that their rivals have absolutely melted down. At least Arsenal are revitalised with Odegaard and Saka back.

Fantastic performance. Managed the second half really well and limited City to hardly anything. Another clean sheet as well.

Doku was the only player I was concerned about.

City’s first half performance was…well it wasn’t really was it. Can’t believe how toothless they were, and how disappointed I was that the score was only 1-0 at HT.

Van Dijk MOTM. So good apart from that one moment with KDB.

Can anyone explain what happened to City?

Squad been told they're in all probability going down, so sub consciously they've give up as what's the point... verdict is due in December I think so if that is the case then it'll explain the collapse.

Is Pep trying to get sacked? I haven't been paying too much attention to City so didn't realise they are on a serious losing streak...

Liverpool fans can now gloat, once they’ve inevitably tied up the EPL by January they’ll be the most successful team in history..

That was really remarkable to see. No team does that to Manchester City of Pep Guardiola.
Agreed, its the first time I've watched an game and saw a team be like "We're just better than you, we're not gonna sit in ahd play on the counter like you usually get trashed. We're just going to dominate you." I've seen us get hammered usually on the counter but nothing like today.

Nah, their season's gone and Slot made it official today.

That's all.

Yes. Liverpool came to win this game from the first minute. City had no answers. This is the most dominant 2-0 that one can have.

Ha one man army.

They've also got a bunch of aging players who are looking past their best all of a sudden: KDB, Gundogan, Bernardo, Walker and their buys over the past while have failed to impress. Haaland's gone off the boil as well and is massively under performing for the chances he's got during this bad run.

I don't know if the charges are having an impact. It seems to be a bit of an accumulation of many things at once.

Ha one man army.

That's not completely accurate, the issue is more that they don't have anyone in the squad capable of playing as a defensive midfielder like Rodri does. They have a lot of makeshift number 6's, they've tried some number 8's such as Gundogan and Kovacic or defenders like Rico Lewis.

Rodri is a phenomenal player but this outward form is more than just missing a great player, it's also not having anyone in the squad capable of replacing him. Spain lost Rodri in the final and actually looked better with Zubemendi in their, that's the type of player City need right now.

I dunno if it's that simple. They just seem to have lost a bit of their shine, intensity, pizzaz if you will. They dominated possession in the second half and even when they inevitably made it into the final 3rd and were camped around the Pool box, they had no ideas.

Usually those lead to a couple of butt clenching moments. Maybe it's just how solid Pool are as a defensive unit. Let's see.

Reckon they'll beat Newcastle but they always struggle at Everton so can see a draw there. Spurs are game raisers so can see that being a tough one too. Arsenal have picked up form and I reckon they'll reel Liverpool in by New Years.
Everyone's mental state depends on you getting this right

Ha one man army.
It is a surprise how far they've dropped, but it's not a surprise such an incredible player leads to a team missing them.
We saw it with Cantona and Keane, Arsenal have been seeing it with Odegaard.

Liverpool are a Salah injury from a huge downturn too.

Why anyone would put themselves through analysis after that game with them top I do not know.

I was waiting for Pep's interview. It really wasn't worth it, both him and the interviewer just acted like the sky wasn't falling in and the chants of 'sacked in the morning' were the maddest thing they'd ever heard.

The whole City meltdown would be fabulous if Liverpool had the new manager dip everyone said they'd have!

I was positive they'd have a dip. I wasn't expecting Salah to be playing so well this season. He looked to be losing it a bit last season. They showed his stats compared to last year and he's running and playing less so Slot seems to be managing him well which is very disappointing.

They could continue this mad form like they did in their 1 title win season.
Or they could hit a big dip.

The problem is, Arsenal or...chuckles Chelsea have to be 10 points better than them over the next 25 or whatever it is.
Or even an old school 11 point catch up from City - who look like they'll lose more points /

Can anyone explain what happened to City?
While I appreciate all the rational explanations… the on I keep picturing is Pep scattering around the shadows of the locker room, slapping his hands back and forth over his head while muttering something about his precious …. All the while each City player is simultaneously receiving one of two texts (depending on player age) from their agents in reply to their urgent SOS’:

“Stay Calm … don’t get injured before the window”

Or

“Stay calm… Saudi Arabia is actually very nice”
