Suspect this will be the nail in the coffin for Arsenal's title chances and the beginning of the end for Arteta

Nah, Newcastle aren't that great. They haven't won their last 5 PL games and even before that, they were lucky to get wins in a couple of games.

Ben White was one of Arsenal's most important defenders last season and doesn't seem to start as often anymore. Did he fall out with Arteta or something?

Some very wishful thinking if people believe Arteta’s position is under threat.

Even if they lose and City and Liverpool open up an even greater lead, it isn’t unassailable at this stage and there’s no chance Arsenal would consider sacking him. He’s got far too much credit in the bank and anyone that might replace him would be a downgrade.

I’d love a full-blown capitulation but this Arsenal side have proven they’re made of sterner stuff. Don’t subscribe to the notion that they’re out of the title race. City are susceptible without Rodri and Liverpool aren’t any better than Arsenal. They can still turn this around.

Arteta will get the season, but if they fail to mount a title challenge this season, the pressure will really be on next season and I can see him being one of the first managerial casualties.

Top cross and header.

According to the Arsenal fans on here Arteta is in absolutely no danger of being sacked.

Arsenal are a strange team. Arteta got them to a point where they looked quite adventurous and exciting but now he’s turned them into a pragmatic grindy team

I suppose they might just pull a Wenger and settle for top four every year.

Given their rise to the second best team in the league, you'd think they'd want to take that next step though, and anything but a title challenge this season is an obvious step backwards.

If they can't turn it around and get back in the race this season, I really wouldn't be surprised to see them roll the dice on sacking him if next season starts in a similar manner.

Depends what happens in the cups. An underwhelming 3rd in the league would be seen as an ok blip if they landed the Carabao + made a Champions League final etc.

It's a bit mad to see our fans thinking Arteta might be close to the sack given our recent history backing Ten Hag.

You don't sack a manager because they're coming up just short of a title, being in the mix (relatively) is surely the expectation. They'd be mad to sack to him unless they fall out of the top four.

It would be a lovely turn of events if Arsenal faltered and Arteta never won anything with them. They've been consistently edging closer, I did think success was inevitable.

Doesn't look that way so much now.

CL final, maybe, but I can't see a League Cup making the difference.

1-0 down in the middle of the first half against a midtable side and Arsenal have all eleven players back behind the ball in their final third.

Horrible shit on a stick side. Sean Dyche would blush.

Partey as full back huge mistake in this game....they need him centrally.

Gordon is fantastic.

It seemed like he was fairly attainable in the summer but I'd imagine that is no longer the case since he signed a new deal. I'd like to see him play for us.

It will be interesting to see how long they keep going if they don't win anything.
