Premier League ain’t ready for bald Martial

It's painfully obvious but the passun merchants on here have made their mind and think that buying Halland will somehow will improve our midfield.

The Glazers have definitely judget the intelligence of this fan base right by buying Sancho and Varane and trying to play the sell-to-buy card. Some absolute shocking opinions despite the evidence to the opposite time and time again.

I don't think there's anyone with that opinion? Bit weird to just make things up to defend Martial.

Well, it's the logical train of thought of blaming Martial for our poor build-up play and lack of attacking cohesiveness.

It's just such poor understanding of what is causing us issues.

Looks like a player who knows he's not first choice anymore and never will be again.

The new look bald Martial is still the muppet that has strolled through two seasons doing feck all when he had hair.

Look at the goal Lukaku just scored, Martial is probably waiting on the edge of the box for that, he's not got the striker instincts, he's not about to get them either.

I'm sick of his lack of effort. I wouldn't mind if he was trying his all and nothing was coming off for him but he never looks interested.

The that title is like a parody and very cringeworthy.
If that was the case, why doesn't he want out then?

I honestly don't think the bloke enjoys football.
Regarding the first sentence, money, he's on £200-250k a week and is getting richer by the week.

The second point, I get the same feeling, reminds me of Anelka in his personality, doesn't ever seem motivated.

And they have the same bald head.

Needs a new contract to preserve his value, then we can loan him out in three years to get a third of his wages off the wage bill and then he can go to Nice on a free transfer in four years having picked up £35m in wages over the duration of his contract, at which point people will be saying that he still could offer something because he scored a tap-in in the 25/26 pre-season against Shamrock Rovers.

The 2nd coming of bald Rooney.

In seriousness, he is back in training.

What is your expectation for Martial this season?

Wish theyd sell him. Bald or not he's crap and needs to be moved on like all the other dead wood at the club.

Van Nistelrooy was once leading the line. Now it is Martial. This was on my mind a lot during the game.
This is what I think often. We have had Yorke, Cole., Ruud, Rooney, Tevez, Van Persie , Zlatan and Martial .

And literally not one striker on our bench. Can you imagine that ever happening with Fergie in charge?

I know, I really like Cavani but he is just not going to be available enough . I can see it being a frustrating season again where we struggle to kill off teams .

Premier league dont give a heck about his head in general.

I said this when everyone was ecstatic that he re-signed. He can only do it part time now. We’re aiming to play around 60 games again this season if everything goes well. We’ve played 61 in each of the last two.

With Cavani, it is a worry. I was actually impressed he got to play almost 40 of those games last season, even if you average his minutes it's about 55 minutes per game. This is a year later though, and it's definitely a big question mark, the hope is that Greenwood can pick up the slack and Martial can be a back up on the left wing at that point because you have to find a way to get him back with the wages he's on, no one is going to take him off United's hands, bald or not.

Good point. I also happen to think that he's one of those footballers who just don't like football that much. Assou-Ekotto was a famous example of this.

So.....how do you explain the much-better form of Greenwood and Cavani? Martial should be in his prime. Greenwood is a kid. Cavani is at the end of his career. Both are scoring more goals, getting more assists and looking much more threatening.

Also, the midfield isn't elite level but I've seen forwards like Ings, Bamford and Callum Wilson do far more with very average service

Perhaps we need Cavani to just play the first half every game. Get a lead and then sub him off for martial. use martial for counter attacks when the other team is trying to come back.
Otherwise, I don't see martial making much of an impact leading the line.

this whole suggestion sounds insane but martial really can't do much against teams that are sitting back and not giving much space. I think he's gotta go to a less competitive league or work much harder in training and on the pitch

Martial hasn't played in half a year, so what are you comparing to here? Some imaginary reality where he's been fit and failed to produce against Greenwood and Cavani?

He was in dire form last season when fit and despite the fact I like him as a player, I think it's best to move him on for the club's and our sake. However, I didn't see us improving vastly with Greenwood up front or creating a lot more chances. Greenwood himself is in good form but our overall play is a different matter.

My general point is that despite his bad performance, it's unfair to pile so much misery on Martial when he's clearly out of sorts and lacking confidence. Just look at Werner at Chelsea - he might not be scoring goals but he definitely contributes and Martial can do the same.

Best case scenario is he has a decent season and we send him to Italy or Spain if the financial situation there improves.

Face facts he's been garbage since that slap in the face of Lamela against Spurs and will not make excuses for him ever
I'm not saying his top level will be good enough for us. I'm just saying that no player is going to come back from a long term injury fully match fit.

Now ask yourself what is the special sauce that a low on confidence Werner brings to the team that a low on confidence Martial does not?

Because I think the answer to that question will tell you why the fans are so quick to pile on poor performances from Martial.
