Premier League 12/2/25 - 16/2/25

It’s probably offside but it’s incredible how often we either a) just get a cursory VAR check when it’s against the Scousers, or b) absolutely no review whatsoever.

They are the only club this happens to.
It's because we are special and unique and everyone loves us, so the refs cheat to help us win and everyone ignores it because they love us and want us to win.

Salah’s such a strange player. Don’t rate him technically but he’s consistently producing excellent numbers. The amount of promising breaks he squanders is astonishing for an ‘all-timer’.

I'll take that. Villa finished stronger. I think Emery's subs were better than Slot's.

On to City. Seems like they're having a good night.

It's incredible what a team Emery has created. Forget about points but they are so much fun to watch. Can't remember the last time we had a United team anywhere as entertaining as this.

Another stuttery Scouse performance. They are so spawny that, of course, their direct rivals for the title have a billion attacking injuries and are unlikely to be able to legitimately pressure them to make this unconvincing Scouse run really pay.

Was clear this was coming for Liverpool in the second half of the season where they have the much tougher fixtures. Huge points dropped over the last week and even though City are playing piss poor I fancy them to get something against a Liverpool side that look very hit and miss right now. Title race is wide open.

If only it was a better and non-injury hit Arsenal chasing them
Any team but Arsenal managed by Lego pep.

Emery has the worst record against Liverpool than any other club with just one win in 13 matches against them now and tonight his team gifted Liverpool the opener and Villa I believe two big chances late on to win

I think it could get close if something happened to Salah for the remainder of the season. But whilst he remains fit every game, they can’t give up an 8 point lead. His numbers alone are just far too good.

Yeah they don't inspire confidence.

Might be overthinking it but Arsenal's remaining fixture list is probably the better of the two but they'd need to be perfect in the run in.

17 shots to Villa's 9. Nunez missing an open goal, Jota missing a 1 on 1. We could've been out of sight in that.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
3 on target from your 17 shots, 4 on target from Villas 9.

Had Villas 4 shots on target hit the back of the net and your 3 hit the back of their net, Villa wouldve won 4-3.

Funny old game football when stats are involved.

Like I said before the game, I'd have been surprised if Liverpool won here. They've dropped points in 6 of 13 games now in the League and by the middle of next week, it could genuinely be 7 or 8 of 15. They're massively wobbling and Arsenal will only really have themselves to blame if they can't take advantage.

Right but I mean two of those off target ones for us were Jota's one on one and Nunez's open goal. You can't say we deserved to lose. Villa were better in the final 15 due to their subs. Ours didn't work at all.

Arsenal have dropped points in 5 of their last 15. Feels like we've all forgotten what a normal title race looks like with City going on 19 game winning runs every other season. This feels more like a pair of regular title challengers going at it.

Is the longer than usual honeymoon period coming to an end for Slot?
Nah, just think they are coming back to earth a bit. Still a very dangerous team but that first half of the year was all time level form that didn't seem sustainable at all (especially considering how much of it was Salah being guaranteed production every matchday)

To be fair, Arsenal have gone on similarly great runs in the last two years, which is why they'll be kicking themselves if the one time there's no City involved and they're chasing a stuttering Liverpool, they don't take advantage.

I wouldn't even say we're stuttering. It's not possible to be perfect and after City our last six away games will have been Forest, Brentford, Bournemouth, Everton, Villa and City. Villa have lost once at home all season, we always struggle away to Everton and Forest are in the top four. It's just how fixtures have landed.

I think Arsenal's problems have revolved around dropping points under poor circumstances. 0-0 with Everton at home, 1-1 with Fulham, 1-1 with Brighton after leading, 2-0 up against Villa and drawing.

Interested to see how they get on with the West Ham and Forest games.

They should beat West Ham but I'll be quite surprised if they go away and win at Forest.
