Maybe youre right, but he will surely be back in training any day now, he didn't play much at the Euros and he is quite fit. I think he will play some minutes against City and then start against Fulham, as will Bruno too IMO. Also, we don't have much choice.

He played because they need a RB and he still needs to be fit, just in case. The noise today seems to be that things are getting closer with West Ham. I'd be surprised if he was part of the squad for the Liverpool game at this point.

If you truly need to sell-to-buy and you started a player in the process of being sold as you watch our squad drop like flies due to pitch conditions and knocks because you NEED a RB to start a meaningless preseason friendly... we got problems.

I think if it wasn't just selling AWB to get Mazraoui then maybe not. It's pretty small change with both of them. If it was a bigger fee coming in and for a position we were desperate in, then they probably don't risk it.

At the end of the day, if AWB gets injured and stays, we still have 2 RBs.

Edit: doesn't matter anyway as Dalot will start RB and Shaw LB

That is presuming we don’t buy anymore or sell anymore. But we will, so expect a new CB, perhaps a FB and a DM or CM

I am assuming we get the De Ligt deal done. I would make a case that Mount should be in, instead of Cas, but that's what I'm thinking today... let's see who survives the next two weeks.

I think we'll have a few more signings done by then and a few departures. Shaw and Martinez starting will be a big help, RCB and midfield is probably hardest to predict. By the looks of preseason, Amad, Rashford will start with either Zirkzee or Garnacho being the remaining forward.

Losing Hojlund and Yoro is tough to take but if we bring in a few more players I think we'll be in good shape for the opening game. If De Ligt and Ugarte/Rabiot come in then that line up looks exciting.

Predicting that Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, and Casemiro will still be sold, and 2-3 of De Ligt/Mazraoui/Ugarte/Rabiot to come in, but not until the end of the window.
 
Haven't been keeping up with injuries, but depressingly I think it'll be:

Bruno McTom Mainoo
Amad Zirkzee Rashford

No improvement there from last season, possibly regressed in fact without Varane, and with the same manager to boot.
 
Stating the season with the same team (and manager) as last season's disaster is pretty grim.
