Pre Premier League Draft Round 1 - Edgar Allan Pillow vs Indnyc

Who would win in the following draft game with all players at their peak?

  • Total voters
    20
  • Poll closed .
I thought losing by a vote would be the worst way to lose. Found a worse way

Average Pick time EAP - 30.83
Average Pick time Indnyc - 31.33

Congratulations @Edgar Allan Pillow
After he spent about three days in the pub, I didn't think @Edgar Allan Pillow would win if it came down to a time tiebreaker.

Well done both.

Ouch :(. I just couldn't pull the trigger on voting here. I had a marginal preference for EAP's group of players but thought your set up was a little more coherent, so couldn't decide what should swing it. Did Eddie Gray ever play on the right wing? Gray vs Blackmore could have been a massacre in your favour.

Nah he didn’t.. He drifted inside quite a bit but really he was devastating on the left.. If I had more material on Martin O’neill I think I could have swung it.. He has one video on YouTube :( Needed a better right winger

Aye, O' Neill seemed a decent, industrious player but a Gray-calibre winger on that right side would have made a huge difference vs Blackmore. Very unfortunate for you that your best player came up against one of the best RBs in the draft.

Gray's peak was pre this drafts era. 1971-72 is arguably the only season he was at his peak that fits draft criteria (ironically similar to Best). He had a half decent year in 1975 but that great Leeds team was nearly done by then. Nothing special till 1980s when he converted to full back till retirement.

If you want the Gray who would destroy Blackmore, you'd have to go back to 1967-70, when he was devastating.

I dunno, I think you're underselling Gray's longevity here. He was only 21 at the start of the draft period, and carried on playing until 1983. Injuries obviously curtailed him badly but he still seemed excellent from what I've watched of Leeds. More importantly, as I'm drunk and feel like changing the topic, it appears that incredibly blatant gamesmanship is just as much a part of Barcelona's DNA as Cruyffian football. I watched this researching during the drafting. From 3:07:

That's about as outrageous and shameless as it gets

@Indnyc going by your research, what years would you say Grays peak was?

Think he was at his peak until at least 1976-1977. He was part of the great run Leeds had in the European cup losing in the final to Bayern in 1975, where he destroyed Barcelona in the semis. Weirdly he was left out of the final starting line up which upset most of the Leeds fans.

Exactly the match I was referring to.. In his latter years he became a left back (late 70’s to early 80’s), so we can discount that but he was still brilliant at least until then

He never played a full season till 1975-76 due to injuries. If you look past 71 season you have to do down till 75 and the cup game for the next best thing. And then nothing special after that either till he retired. He really was a young prodigy between 67-70.

He was injured in quite a bit but was great whenever he played. He wasn’t just a prodigy.. Voted Leeds 3rd best player of all time and voted to be. part of all time Leeds best team.. He continued to do well until 1977 then he was less effective and after that he bacame a left back to continue his career
