Pre-match press conference - Fenerbahçe

Jose making it sound like Bastian essentially brought back to make up the numbers in training.

Asked regarding managing in Turkey: Mourinho is happy to be at United, as a minimum wants to be here until the end of his contract. "After that, who knows?". He's very young and has options. Loves passion, which there is plenty of in Turkey.

High praise from Mourinho on basti... making up the numbers essentially

Regarding Phil Jones: "Doesn't remember" when Phil Jones last had a run of good matches. Last time he remembers him playing was against Madrid when he managed them. Has been training with the team for more than a week now. A forced move to select him as there are 3 defenders injured.

to be fair, it was one of the better performances by Jones. CR7 scored a goal but apart from that he still managed to lock him down quite well.

When talking about Schweinsteiger he said we don't have any problems in midfield. Quite a few disagree and when also considering how little Carrick has been used he obviously has different ideas about how he wants to set the team up.

Darmian pre-game interview:

- Tomorrow will be a tough game
- Worked a lot in the first part of the season, but had to be ready once Jose gave him the opportunity
- Wishes Valencia a quick recovering
- Asked if he's disappointed with his United career so far. Admits that he's had to work hard and is willing to take his opportunity. Understands that there are always top players and he'll have to fight for his position every day.

Saying the right things, IMO.

Why are people surprised Bastian is nothing more than filler/training to be let go? There's no way Mourinho was going to bring him back and have him play football again. Not to mention the last time he actually played a football game was about 3-4 months ago.

Just watching the press conference now. Bloody journalist asking the same question in different ways to get a reaction over referees. Scumbags.

Hardly comforting that he wants to stay a long time.

Huh? His contract is 4 years. If he stays until the end he'll have been here longer than almost any PL manager I can think of, bar Wenger. Certainly longer than any in the top half.
The comments when he joined was he wanted to stay somewhere a long time, i.e. more than 1 or 2 contracts. Those who want to bash Jose as a journey man, will naturally say, I knew it.

They would be idiots tbf. You just need to look at the managers of all the biggest clubs to see how unusual it is for them to stick round for 4 years or longer. If he did last the duration of his contract he'd be pretty much the opposite of a journey man.

He said he wants to stay until the end of his contract minimum. As I understand there's an option of renewing till 2020 or something. If his 3 years will be successful I'm sure he'll renew.
All fair comments today.

Thought it was 3 years.

Anyway, his answer is sensible. Not sure why this question was asked anyway at this point. Pretty pointless.

I just googled "jose mourinho contract length" and top hit said four years. No idea how accurate that is.

Re the question I think it's just one of those random questions foreign journos often ask players and managers. Would you consider playing in our league one day? Rather than being honest and seeming like a cnut, they usually fudge their answer and say something similar to what Mou said.

Predictable that at least one eejit on here uses this as a reason to have a go at him, of course...

Haven't watched the conference but from the comments in this thread, it seems like it was more a question of whether he sees himself managing in Turkey at some point. He obviously isn't going to say no.

He does sound so down and tired! Every sentence feels forced. But perhaps that is something to do with Journalists wanting to get him to say things to incriminate himself! Don't know...Perhaps he's just a bit overwhelmed with how much work he has to do! Probably reading far too much into it...but his energy is pretty subdued.

In his last game, he was so full of energy that he got sent to the stands!
I assure you, Jose still has plenty of energy. Perhaps too much energy ;)
