I read recently that he is doubtful to be fit for Celtic's EL games against Valencia later this month as his injury needs a period of rest before he can start training again.
I think Laird will make a strong claim soon enough. At left-back, I don’t think Tierney is as good as many others seem to. I’d love Ben Chilwell though. He’s brilliant.

Would be nice with a very attacking one, like Doherty or Meunier but if we go that way, we need to sign a world class central defender too to cover.
There are rumours City are looking at Chilwell and Wan-Bissaka, that's as good as any place for us to start looking.
Most fans want a CB and a RW but getting them also requires shifting some of the players we have on and in those positions we have players that will be hard to move, however there is no reason we can't broom Valencia, Young and Darmian and get 2 fullbacks as all of them are out of contract in the summer, or at least Darmian will be if don't extend his deal, just let them go and refresh.

Pereira has had a great season for Leicester and has proven he can cope with the pace of the Premier League. He’s still only 25 so we could get about 8 seasons out of him. For me, he’s the best RB in the league next to Wan-Bissaka this season. He’s another one I’d be happy to see us sign... however I think Pereira is more solid and experienced.
Sandro... if the rumors about Juve wanting Marcelo are true, we should be all over that. Sandro for me is the best LB in the Serie A. I wanted him at United since his Porto days because he reminds me of Patrice Evra. If we could get him for even £80m, I’d be ecstatic. Full backs are over priced these days but he would be easily worth that.

Judging by our last “City target” signings (Sanchez and Fred), I’d be staying well clear.
If it's possible I would like Hakimi from Dortmund (Real Madrid) as Fullback. He is very offensive, but I like his style of playing this position.

Ricardo Pereira at Leicester? He's quietly been having a very good season from what I can tell. Leicester are pretty difficult to do business with though.
I like Ricardo Pereira and AWB. Meunier is way too overrated. Would rather bring back Rafael Da Silva than ever target him

Pereira only moved to Leicester last summer for £17m. As usual we didn’t show any interest while he was at Porto and now we will have to pay 3/4 times the price.
I'm still perplexed by the Dalot purchase. What exactly had Dalot shown in his handful of 1st team appearances for them that won us over? His versatility to play LB & RB? His one-off performance against Pool's Salah in UCL?
Also, why buy a young Dalot when according to the caf we have some solid talent coming through in Laird, Connor etc ??
I can't fathom how our scouts missed Ricardo Pereira & Alex Telles when at Porto matches. These 2 were tearing it up last season.
We bought Dalot because other teams were looking to make a move. He was on the list for a future purchase, but they fast-tracked it so we didn't miss out. I believe he will be good for us. We do need a starting RB though, Dalot and Young can be the backups.
Dalot was one of the best prospects in Europe at the time, Laird still hasn't played u23 football and I'm not sure O'connor had much experience at the time either. Could you imagine what it would be like if we hadn't bought him?!
In fairness, the only reason Porto were even willing to let Pereira go was because of Dalot, which says how highly he was rated by them.
Yes, they probably felt Dalot was ready for the Liga NOS. For our scouts to think a 19 year old kid (now 20) was ready for the step up to the EPL, supposed best league in the world, after such few appearances, just screams gamble to me. I mean surely those at the club championing Dalot, must have noticed how hard it was for an Italian international like Darmian to cut it here. Even Rafael & Fabio found it tough trying to acclimatize to a new league, language, country. Did we not learn anything?
Whoever gave the approval to sign Dalot must really not rate Laird, O'Connor & TFM at RB.
Anyways, you making it sound as if Dalot has come in & displaced Young & is our first choice RB. He hasn't. I don't need to imagine what would happen if we hadn't bought him. Young would still start. Darmian/Valencia would take Dalot's spot on the bench.
Dalot hasn't played like some kind of prodigious talent that we simply had to sign. Hell this season I've seen Herrera, McT, Young, Darmian, Lindelof & Bailly play at RB. That's how unimpressive Dalot has been in training to our managers. They've even tried to mitigate the risk of playing Dalot in defence by pushing him higher up as a winger/attacker.
Dalot has shown glimpses of very good attacking play, but has yet to prove he can defend properly, I'm sure he will improve in that respect with good coaching, so I would like to see Wan Bissaka come into the squad. AWB has not shown much in the offensive aspect, whether that is down to him, or team orders we wouldn't know. Laird has had some injury problems recently, but hopefully both he and O'Connor will get plenty of u 23 matches next season, and I would expect both to be in the first team set up. I hope that Young will be used sparingly, only as a last resort, but he, apparently, is a big influence in the dressing room.
Meunier makes sense as a potential signing. He is not a top class fullback, but he is a solid performer with no real weaknesses who won't block the progress of any young prospects. He is much more reliable than Young/Valencia.
Even if we signed a great RB, we're only an injury away from the same lot. Buying a fullback alone is not going to fix us. A change needs to come from within. We have to assess who from our youth system can step up. I don't think Dalot is even as good as Tuanzebe at RB.
We could alternatively look at lower leagues for a young pacey fullback. There just have to be multiple better players than our current options.

Shaw is a mid table quality player who wouldn’t look out of place at a team like Southampton or Everton. The fact that we gave him 190k a week because he scored a fluke goal against Leicester sums up the state of our board.
The “experiment” is over. He didn’t live up to the potential. All things considered, he’s been a shite signing. And if we want to win trophies again, we have to aspire for more. Look at Evra, or even Heinze. Worlds apart.
For me, Alex Sandro is the one we need but I’ve been saying that since he was at Porto. I also want Ricardo Pereira on the right side. But I won’t hold my breath... chances are, we’ll have Young and Shaw starting next season, trying to untangle their feet while they deliver shite cross after shite cross. This is the standard now. I mean, they’re loyal, “passionate” and English. What more could you want?
This is what I don't get with the pinning for a fullback the forum says is not impressive going forward in AWB. You have Shaw being criticized for his poor attacking play yet people want the club to add a similar fb on the right side. We simply don't have the luxury to wait a few years to find out if he will develop his attacking play especially with how poor our right flank is at the moment. It's either we get someone who has a good balance in attack and defense or someone who is great in an attacking sense. If we need to defend Tuanzebe can do that job.
I like Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax. Too bad that he signed another year contract a few weeks ago. Not a good crosser but he can pass the ball, link up well, can dribble, plays both sides more of an inverted full backs!
Is there any point in trying for someone like Coleman in as a full back as well even if on a loan?

I agree that AWB is limited in his passing, crossing or technical skills. However what is most important is he can do his job well, ie defending. He is strong, fast, good tackler and would do well in a team with quality wide attackers who can pull away opponents and create spaces for overlapping runs. Look at Robertson and TAA runs from Salah’s and Mane’s contributions, and Walker from Silva’s and Sterling’s.
Finding a 2-way fullback is so difficult so rather than focus on something that is impossible to attain, play with creative midfielders and attackers who are not static, technically deficient, with good ball playing skills and creativity.

Problem with WB signing, with Dalot and Shaw both young and already on cards is that you will block Laird development and won't have any kind of experience in the squad for FB positions with Shaw as the most experienced guy also injury prone.
I guess that is why Young is left in the squad. He will be able to be a cover that can step up whenever needed, also, he is rarely injured and on one year contract so that is not a problem.
Laird will certainly not be ready for the next season, he can get a game or two, and be around of squad, but I doubt he will be even a squad player before season 2020/2021.

Getting some talented full backs will take us to a new level. Part of the reason why our attack looks disjointed is because of the lack of options for us.

Knocking him down to the bench should be a priority. The full-backs as a unit are woeful.
