Watford 4:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Favre is a fair shout until the end of the season and then decide.
At least he should be able to put together a shape and style of play that Ole is clearly not capable of.

We need to ride the storm, show solidarity and come out the other side of it.
What good will sacking another manager do? It's obviously the players, we could have Pep, klopp, Alf Ramsey and Sir Alex all in charge yet this squad would still stink the place out.
The players don't know the history of the badge, the shirt nor the the stadium.

I don't even feel angry just now; I'm just sad about it all. The board should have sacked Ole after the City game. We are a shambles on and off the pitch.

Yes, this post pretty much sums up how I feel. Early reports suggest that Watford absolutely deserved it.

It's really sad, a shame really.

And those players have lost any desire to play for Ole'...

What’s weird is in our last few games Bailly Lindelof Donny Lingard etc have been amongst our brightest players. Telles goal against Villarreal. If he leaned to rotate his squad he’d still be in a job. Ultimately he’s not been brave enough. Matic and McT in midfield in a billion pound team says it all about our owners

Really!!!!!!

On a slightly positive note, under a good manager, Sancho and DVB might become the backbone of our team.
The difference to Sancho's performance when van de Beek came on was like night and day because he actually gave Sancho the ball in areas where he wanted it so they could build the play rather than totally bypassing him with constant diagonal passes to the furthest man forward. Whats frustrating is that the coaching staff dont seem to understand that long defence splitting passes shouldnt be the standard pattern of play and that you cant build up play like that.
I think van de Beek has proved himself today so the whole 'midfield isnt good enough' goes out the window to a degree. If the current management and coaching staff cant get a tune out of this squad then theyre just not the right people because we've got the players now to play more progressive football than the management seems capable of.

Have been watching United since the mid 80s and that was one of the most embarrassing performances and results

As poor as they were at 2-1 they had a decent opportunity of getting at least a 2-2 draw out of that match but captain Maguire had other ideas with his poor control getting himself into trouble the finish to the game is probably expected from such a disjointed team with 10 men. The likes of Degea and Lindelof didn't cover themselves in glory on those last two goals.

No way back for Ole after that, he should step down himself. The players and the lack of leadership can't avoid criticism either, this will be a big task for whoever takes over

Wasn't even a poor control. It was an easy to telegraph dribble attempt. He does that almost every game and Cleverley has done his homework. The hesitation before he pushes the ball forward. Cleverley was a title winner under Fergie. Guy has more footballing brains in his left toe than the likes of Wan Bisakka and Maguire have brains.

Don’t forget Leicester 4-2!
But that doesn't matter to our owners. This is the question the owners probably asked Woodward after we were hammered 5-0 at home by Liverpool, "did the scoreline affect todays takings from the superstore, ticket sales, or halftime hotdog sales?".

As a Chelsea fan I find this thread quite interesting to read. There was a more palpable feeling of genuine sadness and anger after the Liverpool and City results in the post match thread. Today honestly everyone here seems more or less apathetic about this. Almost like it was expected. United is the biggest institution in English football so being seemingly resigned to this fate is so jarring to see.

Seems like Bruno was defending Ole at the end of the game there. He was telling the crowd not to blame him but it's the players that need to be blamed.

I understand players not playing for manager concept but dont they feel ashamed for taking millions of pounds and dont care about fans

If they dont want the manager they should let board know but they shouldnt stop playing for UTD.

Every single player out there today was a disgrace.

The worst performance I've ever seen from a Utd team.

The best Utd players out there today were Cathcart, Cleverly and King.

Look at his big dumb head.

How are they supposed to perform when none of them know what to do?

This is a complete zombie club at the moment. I've been watching United since Atkinson, and aside from his last game, I don't recall ever seeing us this bad. There's no game plan, no style and almost no effort. I fully expect that the players will again tweet that we will go again, but some of them need to go straight to the glue factory where at least they will be useful again. Ole needs to go, and he needs to go today. At this point a balloon with a face drawn on it would do more good.

Has he done his interview yet? Can't wait to hear him try and spin this

Klinsmann?

I would think Klinnsman would think himself too good for a caretaker role, not sure though. Favre is coming to the end of his career, has recent experience and he also plays decent football.

Id previously been against getting rid of Ole as there weren’t any stand out options that were seemingly available, but I reckon we could pull a fan from the stands each week and let them do the team talk and squad selection and we’d do better.

I’ll take anybody as a caretaker until the end of the season at this point. Just as long as we don’t end up with Brendan on a permanent basis.

We know Ole is gone. But surely even the most Ole out person here has to see we have some absolute donkeys in the team, irrespective of the manager. What on earth was Bruno doing in the first half!! Matic the same. Don't even need to go into Maguire. And then there's Martial

Don't even know what to say about these guys. All the furore is gonna be about Ole but God these are some of the most idiotic performances I've seen by players in a Utd shirt. And that's with Fred not even playing!!

Players can never be absolved of all the blame- but watch what happens if the club accepts you view and puts majority of them on the market. Other clubs will bite our hand off for most of those "donkeys", because they know too well that under a competent manager those players would perform, as they perform for their countries, and as they performed at times under Ole, including many comebacks. They just do not believe he can take us forward any more

I know no fan of other clubs who thinks that on paper we have a significantly worse first eleven/squad than even Chelsea/Pool/City. Not one. But all of them are laughing their asses off us for keeping Ole.

Obviously. Under a good manager Bruno wouldn't be allowed to do whatever he likes or put up these kinds of performances and still getting 90+ minutes.

Those poor players! How can anyone expect them to pass a ball to someone in the same shirt as them when there isn't someone shouting the colour of it out loud at them every 30 seconds? We're lucky we didn't start the second half with 4 players considering the complexity of the door locking mechanism of the toilet cubicles.
