Was at the game.
Excellent first half then levels dropped in the second.
Think the Bruno chance changed the players mentality for some reason.
Fred was a liability.
WW and Tony were anonymous.
Threw this one away.

Completely agree with all that. Can't get over the contrast between the two halves. Should have been a huge score in the first half.

We should have put this too bed in the first half as they were piss poor. This is as far as we can with some of the players.

Need to get Wout, Fred, Maguire, Martial, one of Dalot / AWB, Scott and a few more out and replace them with players who are comfortable on the ball and are mentally strong.

We treat the ball so poorly its baffling. Fred continuously passing to the opposition, what the hell is that? If you compare to the City players its like watching a different sport.

Need massive investment if we have to challenge. Or find gems like Garnacho. Either way, a lot of these players have been given enough chances and need to go.

Honestly just pissed off with that. First half played some great stuff, but again so wasteful.

Second half you could see it a mile off how it was going to go fairly soon once it started.

The subs were DREADFUL, just so bad. Destroyed our flow, looked all over the place.

Fed up of the same sort of shite game after game.

I see we've managed to make Spurs look like mentality monsters. Impressive stuff!

Have we been kidding ourselves that we’ve made progress?
We’re exactly where we were 2 or 3 seasons ago, battling for a top 4 place, with inconsistent performances and everyone saying we need a clear out and just need to bring in a few players.
ETH had this squad flying a couple of months ago.
Has it been the fixture overload and burnout, or has poor mentality and fundamental shortcomings in individual players been exposed again?

I've got every confidence ETH is doing a very good job and is just being hampered by fixture overload, injuries and lack of quality depth.

I do not understand how we turn from very good to very poor from one half to the next. So frustrating.

Just highlights our squad and the lack of real quality. Ericksen, Casimero and Fernandes give our game quality, and it raises the game of others. Rashford, Shaw, DDG all lead. Dalot was v good playing in both full back roles. AWB just switches off... look at him for their first goal, just doesn't stop the cross. He did the same again a few mins later and was subbed.

Martial and Fred are just rubbish to me, and I'm sick and tired of them flattering to deceive. Fred cannot play for a big club, he doesn't appreciate the need to focus, lead, stabilise, inspire. He should just watch Casimero.

Sancho scored a lovely goal. And that was that.

ETH will be fuming. But he knows this squad now and I personally, cannot wait to see the back of some of these players because they are not Manchester United players.

Jekyll and Hyde team.
No control, composure in that second half. Bruno scores with that chance, that deflates Spurs, we see the game out

Abysmal performance in the 2nd half.

Just inexecusable to not win that game. We've not beat a single good team away from home.

Not the worst result to get a draw here, but it feels like a loss after being 2-0 up at half time. Fernandes hitting the bar right after the first Spurs goal is living rent free in my head. I can't help but feel that was the pivotal moment in the game. Score and you've immediately knocked the stuffing out of them.

ETH must really hate Pellistri the way he makes him set on the bench every game for 90+ minutes without a chance of any game time no matter how bad they are playing. I wonder what he has done to deserve that punishment.

For context, Brighton (who have been superb all season) got their sh*t pushed in yesterday by an awful Forest side after our marathon semi.

We just drew away to Spurs. It’s far from satisfactory, but at the same time be realistic ffs.

We threw it away by failing to kill of the game yet again BUT!! We were also coming off a 120 minutes on Sunday, which had already seen in form Brighton lose to fecking Forest, so the serious flagging as the second half went on was always on the table.

Some of the panic in here is proper piss baby levels. A point away at Spurs is fine.
From being 2-0 up it isn’t. These types of games we need to win. We never learn and we never know how to control games. We was far to open even after being 2-0 up

If we won tonight the top 4 was done, now If we drop points to both Brighton and Villa in the next two we are looking over our shoulder.

Unnecessary pressure we have put on ourselves

Has it been the fixture overload and burnout, or has poor mentality and fundamental shortcomings in individual players been exposed again?

.
Hectic season has taken it's toll however the tale of of this season has prove certain individuals remain flaky and ETH needs to move forward without those players.

I am as annoyed as you are but AWB needed to subbed 10 minutes earlier. He was so poor on their first goal, jogging slowly rather than closing the winger down. He was also finding it difficult in the first half.

He was at times sloppy on the ball and not great on there goal, but I thought defensively he played very well, won the ball back when lost if with his sloppyness a few times, didnt get pass at all by the opposition player, was positionally aware most of the game and much better on crosses liek he has been recently (one of his big weaknesses).

The scond goal DAlot was at fault and I think he has had a decent debut season, but Malacia has looked very shaky the last month or so, not sure if its form or confidence.

I still think we looke dmuch weaker defensively when he went off personally both on his side and also with the current version of Malacia coming on.

All the sbustitutes wre pretty disastrous. Fred gave the ball away almost everytime he got it and Wieghorst was Wieghorst. Martial also offered absolutely nothing.

Our subsitutions generally havent worked the alst few games, quite the opposite and Bissaka has been a regular negative part of that for me> Of course we have injuries and we dont know the real state of some of the current options fitness and tiredness, but tactically alone, the substituions have had a negtive effect the alst few games, its often when they have been made we have struggled recently

Dreadful 2nd half.
All the intensity just disappeared
Why the feck did that happen?
We were so casual from the start of the 2nd half, just completely took our foot off the gas.
annoying and borderline unforgivable.
Also ETH please put WW into the u21s. Waste of rations…….
martial also, casual and offered next to nothing. Jog on next year please.

Again same problems.

This was fatigue. Casemiro is clearly struggling with that at the moment, coupled with Eriksen still coming to terms after his injury ( when you consider he was a defensive stalwart either), mixed in with Licha's ball playing skills being missed and Shaw's influence at left back is leading us to struggle to hold possession for long stretches or pin teams back the way we did earlier.

Our depth and our attack have been exposed lately. We need better legs playing with Bruno and Casemiro. We need better quality up front. We need consistent performances from the right flank. Casemiro needs a back up. Varane needs a back up. De Gea's kicking has really been troubling and exposing us as well. These are problems that are solvable, but that we have been experiencing for some time.

The team now has good structure, a solid defence ( when fit), creativity and a consistent threat in Rashford. Building on these qualities by improving attacking efficiency and consistency (with a no.9), getting younger, fresher quality legs next to Casemiro and ensuring Varane is fully covered will improve us immensely

I agree with Malacia, he has looked loose in his possession of the ball and positioning has been suspect. I felt Casemiro was a bit passive again and has not been great since returning from his suspension.

First half was decent, but we need a springboard of results again as the last three Thusdays have had their fair share of mishaps. I do think physical and mental fatigue is prevalent. We just need to somehow keep going!

Type of second half lack of effort where City would ship 6 past us in one half of that was the FA Cup final.

Awful. Players didn’t seem to care.

Sloppy second half yet again much like the Sevilla debacle, worrying that the penny still hasn't dropped with Erik in regards to controlling games (particularly away from home)

I said to many of our fans travelling back on the train from Wembley to beware a Spurs backlash and look what happened

It was more of a we decided to stay in the dressing room at half time rather than a Spurs backlash

Players thought the game was won. Didn’t play for 45 minutes. Can’t expect to win when not turning up for the 2nd half. Really poor.

Spurs’ first is clear offside, Richarlison is on the line interfering De Gea big time, he couldn’t dive.

A goalie with a bit of nouse would’ve deliberately clattered into him, but our Dave just stood there until the ball nestled in the back of the net, then complained about him.

Just saw that first half. How the f did they manage to shit the bed from that position? Anyhow, a draw isn't a terrible result, but this is the second time in a very short time they've surrendered a 2-0 lead while dominating the first half.

Hi Gaz, what was your opinion of Sancho?
I thought he started pretty well, scored and then disappeared. However, I was watching on telly and watching live is a different experience.
I bet my brother £10 he'd score before the match.
He did that then as you say he did to fade.
Was picking up good pockets of space in the 1st half an thought he was a bit unlucky to be hooked at 60.
Thought he could have stayed in for another 10-15

I dont think we had a good first half. We were ok but only because Spurs sat back and let us have the ball. But we were already conceding good chances on the counter. Second half they just decided to come at us and we caved. Its was coming all game.
I also disagree with blaming Ten Haag for the subs. It didnt work but I can see what he was trying to do. Inject some energy. We looked completely done and dead on our feet. Everyone wouldnt be surprised to see Fred giving the ball away but they should be surprised how little energy he injected into the team. Weghorst tried a bit but even he did very little to inject energy. Antony was also done. I dont think I've seen a worse game from him defensively. That made WB struggle. Also wtf has happened to Casemiro. He is our only Defensive mid. He is having a mare and therefore we have no midfield which makes the rest of the team struggle.

Cheers for that. I thought he should not have come out for the second half but maybe that’s the difference between live & telly

Completely agree with all that. Can't get over the contrast between the two halves. Should have been a huge score in the first half.
To be fair Spurs should have scored a couple more in the 2nd half.
Apart from our fans it was flat in their for the 1st half
You could hear the groans.
As soon as they scored the crowd got up and we bottled it.
Could feel an equaliser was going to come.

He's having to say these things too often.
Yeah, and its double-edged. Players are putting him in that situation, is one (and probably still the best ) way to read it, but he's also not doing enough to prepare them against sides that press intensely, whether from the start or after half-time gee-ups. If the players aren't able to control the game technically, then at least disrupt the other team's rhythm and cause them issues with attempted quick transitions to keep them on guard against pressing too high. He should still be improving the general technical level of passing interplay more, in conjunction with staff; that was one thing Pep did a bit of, even starting with a 'better' higher-ceiling team, and was one reason why his City 1st season wasn't a complete bust despite low-ish 4th finish. But it's also something managers have done with worse players, like Potter at Brighton, Bielsa at Leeds (although Leeds were in the Champ at the time, we're talking proportional improvements) in first seasons.

Collapsing like that is infuriating. Could see it coming within a few minutes of the second half starting. As soon as one went in it was clear we'd be fortunate to even get the draw.

Lining up a stressful end to the season we don't need.
