Post-match discussion

Hey mate go celebrate, get drunk, smoke some, heck even pick a fight from happiness if you feel like. It's all up to you, but if you don't like my opinion your free to move along. I'm not forcing you to read.
No no. Don't act precious. It might get in the way of right good moan that you seem to love.

Some great stuff here, especially Ibra being past it.. What the..
We have some right moaning precious babies on here. Wonder how Trump winning would make them react :p

Good to see Zlatan get a couple of goals, hopefully he can kick on from here. Well after the ban, but you know what I mean. Pogba was good, and Jones didn't manage to injure himself. All in all a good day at the office.

Happy with the win.

League table looks a bit healthier now. We've leapfrogged Everton and if we beat Arsenal next, we'll only be 3 points behind them.

First half surprised the hell out of me. Second half we were clearly content with getting it over with, which is a bit annoying, but it was a much needed 3 points.

Zlatan...suspended for Arsenal now? How in god's name does a striker rack up 5 cards in 11 matches? Stupid.

Or maybe I'm not one of those that jump on the hype train every time we win against poor opposition...like some.

This wasn't the first nor the last time in which we won a game like this after few poor performances and immediately we're great and title contenders.

As i said you're free to board your hype train. Choo choo

We beat a team 3-1 away from home. That's a bloody good result for any team.

Because he is a big bloke, so defenders fall over if he goes near them and the ref books him. Yet you can do a leg breaker and get away with it.

Very happy with the 3 points but Swansea were just awful it was like a training match. Praying Mourinho doesn't read too much into this and starts Fellaini/Rooney etc vs Arsenal.

I only managed to see the highlights but Rooney looked rapid as f*ck. Were Swansea just really slow or has he benefited from not playing all the time?

It's more because he spat his dummy out when losing the ball on the half way line and putting in a strikers challenge, he's done a good number of tackles like this

Much needed. Good too see big players stepping up. Shame about Zlatan for the next game.

You're spot on mate, I'm laughing at all these comments saying why didn't we score 6, scored 3 1st half goals so surely more should of followed.

No!

You're jose, you're defence looks awful you, you haven't won a game for a while, you have a 3 nil lead away from home, you better believe the right tactic was to kill the game.

Weve also played a lot of games, take the second 45mins as a chance to relax and avoid any needless injuries.

Swansea were awful today. Worst team I have seen all year in the premier league, they will get relegated no question.

He still has an excellent sprinting speed, and has had that always. His seemingly lack of pace has been more down to poor technique, and arguably acceleration

Yup. He's lost that explosive burst he had to bully past defenders with his strength and create space for himself. Overall sprint speed doesn't matter that much if your acceleration is terrible.

That's the worst side we'll face all season. Rotten second half performance.
Wish we could play them for the rest of the season:D

Damn. I nearly got the scoreline right!

That's the worst side we'll face all season. Rotten second half performance.

Hmm, I'm not sure, Sunderland are pretty rotten too.

Noticed that too, the fastest I've seen him this season. Look at the way he run for the offside goal… Maybe he's picking form also from the physical point of view. No way Mourinho would have started him after playing on Thursday otherwise.

Good win, very enjoyable first half, second slacked off.
Good performances from Pogba, Rooney and Zlatan - Carrick gives us so much more calmness - Pogba playing in his true position.
Fellaini a bit pointless and Mata was quieter than usual.
Defence was OK - giving away a needless goal though - although first correctly predicted United score this season

I agree with a few earlier posts. Feel Mourinho's general negativity off the pitch is not helping the general feel around the players and the club.
Confidence starts from the top and he needs to find his fire, zip and arrogance that he always portrayed in the past.
Thought he got away with one today 0-3 up today and leaving Pogba on all match when he was on 4 yellow cards for the season. With Arsenal at home as our next match that's not the actions of a manager who's not totally on the ball at the moment.
Is it me or does he not look happy or even settled at the club at the moment.
Surely he is not feeling any heat from above. It looks from the outside that he's been given full the backing for the long term.
Glad to see his relationship with Woodward looks all rosy after the match.
Come on Jose get your mojo back.

Honestly, I am happy. Very happy. Its wasn't a great game and Swansea was bad more than we were good, but we stopped the bleeding.

I'm also happy that our squad players such as Young and Rojo seems reliable enough when called upon. This was far from our alleged best line-up, yet we looked very comfortable.

I don't mind a borefest second half when we are 3-0 up at half time. Waste of energy chasing 5-0 wins.

I'm also happy that Mourinho picks his team quite ruthlessly. I have no doubt that he has the guts to kick anyone out of this team if they cease doing what he wants.
This sums it up perfectly

3-1 is a good result. We fecking won (and we can only beat the team we're playing) now let's try and get some consistency because that's all we're lacking,

Exactly as I see it mate. I'd have taken a one nil win before kick off. Some right spoilt beggars on here.

Fellaini once again on top with 12km distance covered.

Mata and Rooney on top with 56 and 54 sprints respectively. Which looks underwhelming compared to most other teams, who has 70+ sprints from their top players. Firminho had 85 today. Not usually that bad though, it is explained by the drowsy second half most likely.

So Shaw, Smalling, Depay, Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin...Guess the report in the paper today was on to something

I don't like this direct public statement. Another media circus about the dressing room and players now looms with Mourinho in the thick of it, like at Real and then Chelsea.

About the game. It was a particularly poor Swansea in the first half, totally backing off our players, but its always good to come home with 3pts away and 3 goals scored.
That said, I believe our starting 11 would struggle against an in-form team regardless of standing. The team seemed incomplete as were not able to counter-attack with any pace.

Zlatan's celebration scared me for a sec.

Performance wise lot worse than vs Stoke and Burnley. But we took our chances and that's what counts.

Good win and a important one at that, but it will all be a bit pointless if we can't go on a run of wins now.

When you consider that all the teams who played midweek didn't win this weekend (bar us) it shows how demanding it is.
City draw
Arsenal draw
Spurs Draw
Leicester ?
Soton Lost
Yes. I think it was Shankly who said that after a midweek game in Europe an way draw was a fine result. No real complaints myself, just hope it's the springboard for the future

The players were tired.
Out of the whole starting lineup, only Rooney, Ibrahimovic, Rojo, and Pogba were the players who started on Thursday. Rooney didn't even play much against Chelsea, so fatigue cannot be used as an excuse for him. Ibra didn't look that fatigued either given that he didn't start on Thursday himself. Rojo looked comfortable as well. Only Pogba could be excused for fatigue, and he was our man of the match!

These happened too often in the past four years, this lowering the energy levels and the introduction of carelessness when we get into a comfortable position. If it would happen in isolation, fatigue would be a valid excuse. However, we saw this against Fenerbahce at Old Trafford, Leceister, and Bournemouth before this, so I don't think that fatigue would be an excuse for all of those matches.

I was extremely worried about this match, and the experimental squad that was designated to play (when I saw the starting line-up my initial reaction was "what is this shite?"). However, first half was very good and it all functioned pretty well. Pogba was great, showed a lot of attacking intent, and the goal was just glorious. Rooney also played a very good match, was surprisingly quick, and his first touch seemed to not let him down. The only thing that irritated me the most in his performance was his pressing. Everytime he tried to "harass" the opponent, the latter easily passed the ball beside him, or simply overtook him.

Overall a very good first half, and a sleepy second half. Swansea certainly wasn't up for it, they were very slow, and gave us a lot of room to play our game. So let's not get carried away, because with a fast opponent we may struggle. We have to be much quicker with and without the ball against Arsenal.

It might be the wrong match to really take much from regarding first XIs, but I get the feeling Jose is slowly starting to creep up on his preference.

Weeding out the players he doesn't see as mentally "at it" enough and I think, with everyone match fit, we may start to see him trying to bed in something like this in league games:

De Gea
Valencia Smalling Rojo Blind
Carrick
Herrera Pogba
Mata Ibrahimovic Rashford
Couple of variables in Rojo/Rashford, but I think it's close.
