It's on him for starting Sanchez when clearly he is out of form. and playing fellaini instead of McTominay who has been playing his heart out for us.
Why are they so lethargic? Why care so little? If you lose giving your all, I'll be disappointed but can accept that.
First off, congratulations to Sevilla and their fans. Great achievement by their side!
As for our much beloved team, I have literally nothing left to say. I've never felt so distant from United and the way they play. It's a gathering of high profile players, not a team. Pogba cares more about his media presence than performing well. Sanchez looks like he's still carrying the burden of a few years spent under Wenger. There is only one person, worthy of the words "Manchester United defender". To top it off, our manager seems to have no influence on the team's morale, presence on the pitch and desire. Lastly, if I were David de Gea, I'd probably be desperate to leave in the coming summer. Mourinho must be a wizard if he manages to keep him for another year or so at the club.

fecking wank, the only player who comes out with any credibility is Lukaku. We fecked it in the first leg, how do we go from the last 3 games to this, it’s baffling. Pogba was awful when he came on and we were actually worse which is saying something because Fellaini was utter rubbish and as for Sanchez, I’m starting to lose my patience with him, he looks like he’s regretting his decision to come here. I just can’t explain it, we looked like we couldn’t give a shit.
It’s absolutely on Mourinho. There’s no way he’s not told/trained the players to play that way.
The thing is you’ll get days, like against Liverpool, where we score the first goal through a bit of individual brilliance and we can get then kick on. But that isn’t going to work all the time.
There’s no doubt other managers would be getting better football/more cohesion from these players.

We are rebuilding from being pretty rock bottom, and we don't have the quality of players we need to play a tactical pragmatic game in the CL atm. Conversely if we'd gone all out attack I could see us getting taken apart too. In the end we got a dire middle ground. It happens.

I'm sure none of us thought we'd actually win it this year; but to get knocked out against a side who leak goals like Sevilla do is just embarrassing. Thing is they were better than us for 170 out of the 180 minutes we played them. If we'd had a go could have been a different story.
Listening to the phone in on MUTV. The pundits are saying the away goal didn't matter and we should have just played this as a one off game and should have walked it. The caller who was just on now said what most of us are saying. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. He also wants Jose gone.
Anyway, one step froward, two steps back from United is something I've gotten used to at this point. The CL is the highest level and to go out against a team that's not even close to the top of that is disappointing but here we are. We are certainly not close to that level either and I'm not sure we will be in the near future. The seasons is pretty much a disappointment anyway but we need to get something out of the FA cup and the guarantee top4, so we at least have something to build on for next season. A bit meh all around but it is what it is.
Additionally there is not point in demanding a rebuild #437 because nothing will ever work if we keep tearing it down every single time something goes wrong. That's not good planing, that's gambling.

Other teams play attacking football from the off every game. We play attacking football when we go 1 or 2 goals down or from the 80th minute in a score draw situation. We're completely capable of it with the players we have. I can only think this mindset comes from the manager as its the same game after game. Further to that completely changing the balance of the team after the Liverpool result was a massive mistake and the necessary substitutions were made way too late.
I can’t believe how much space you gave Sevilla throughout the game. It seemed fairly obvious to me that they were vulnerable when you pressed them. For some reason you just sat back, though. Weird.
I don't know what goes on in training, but seriously, some of the players need to stop fecking about on social media playing stupid games. And start to take responsibility for the salary they earn.

Mourinho has to take the blame for this performance, he picked a defensive minded team which is shocking at home to a 5th place La Liga team.

Unfortunately it's true. The spineless way he setup the team, the way the players don't respond, him being stubborn, putrid quality of football, it's just too much. I don't usually advocate sacking managers but i don't really know if he got what it takes to manage a club like United. It was a nightmare scenario and this all so depressing. I wanted to defend him, give some support but i can't. Sucking the joy out of football.
Don't think any of us really thought we would win it, but Jose has won it with a worse squad than ours. There was a hope I suppose. That was an abysmal performance.

Sanchez was poor, Pogba was terrible and should be sold.

Since being negative is not appreciated on here, I'll try to detail my thoughts a bit so I'm not just moaning.
Possession was about 50-50, so we didn't dominate the match. At home that's not great but not the end of the world I guess. What was really poor was the energy levels and the passing. You could argue we looked tired coming off Saturday because concentration levels looked poor as well. Though I thought the point of Mourinho's strategy was to conserve energy both in matches and across the season to play harder and longer when needed? Ah well, I'm no expert I guess.
3 shots on target for the entire match. For a side that was a chasing a goal for nearly the entire match - pretty pathetic stuff. This isn't like Saturday when we scored in the first half and could sit back. We needed to score and we barely looked like doing so. Sevilla had 6 shots on target. Blocked shots about even (6-5) - nothing to talk about.
Less accurate passing than Sevilla and less key passes on the stats which probably makes sense. Passing looked awful all game. Don't think Sevilla were good at all (not to sound like I'm insulting them) - they were still utimately a better football team over two legs but United have not been beaten by a good side. United were just awful.
Individual performances wise: Sanchez was poor again with his passing. Rashford had some good runs but not much going on around him. Thought Lukaku was once again both our best player and (worryingly) our most creative outlet. Matic played well considering Fellaini buggered off up the pitch to knock down crosses/lobs (not a pretty sight when it's not even effective). Don't know why Lingard was so deep but that's just one of many confusions.
Subs and their impact? Martial and Mata couldn't get into the game really but nothing to comment on. Pogba was awful. Poor passing, poor decision making and if you're still talking about 'agendas' against him, your room must be plastered in his memorabilia at this stage. He's is stinking form right now. Awful to watch.

Right. I know Jose has won this competition before, and that he knows how to build a team. And how experienced the man is. I do not know his long term plans, and to a large extent I trust him, with his work in progress.

I remember going up in a lift and meeting a woman with a clipboard and my mouth being dry. In the interview my anxiety to impress overwhelmed me, and my usual performance deserted me. I'd love to know what our game plan was. How is it possible to show up like this in biggest game of the season? Not much left to play for in PL and we seemed more as if we played mk donks in mickey mouse cup than knockout game in CL.

It's a fair result, Seville deserved to win this, and if they were better at finishing it could have been a cricket score over the the two legs.
Yes the players could give more, however let's be frank, they've been told to go and park the bus and hope for a miracle goal.

Yep. His lack of desire is fecking pathetic. Honestly wouldn’t care if we shipped him out and got a replacement. He’s got the talent but what does it matter when he just can’t be arsed?

We got lucky against Celta Vigo last season, Jose's luck ran out. He's not the man to take us forward, how can you have attacking talent like Lukaku, Sanchez, Pogba, Mata, Rashford, and Martial and not conjure up a clear scoring opportunity against the weakest Spanish team in Europe?!!!

I just don't get it. The most important game of the season and we play like we have zero desire to do anything. What even was that?
Because it wasn't a tactical masterclass. It was Liverpool having an off day, one player out jumping anothet and a young RB being exposed.
People made a lot more out of that good win as if we'd beaten 80s Milan as Colchester.
