EL W Europa League Round of 16 2nd Leg

Real Betis 0:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

A few early scares but comfortable in the end. Happy with Pellistri performance, got stuck in and looked creative. Got joke of a yellow card but kept going which is good to see.

Weghorst...well we didn't buy him for his goal scoring, but worry is if Rashford doesn't score, we don't!

I was weirdly nervous at the start. Oddly nonchalant at the end.

Didn't expect this tie to be anywhere near this comfortable.

Over the two legs we created enough to win two or three knockout ties. Which is nice.

Obviously Rashford scores from the hardest chance.

After a shaky 15-20 mins, couldn't ask for much more.

Beat Fulham Sunday then a few of our players get some mysterious knocks so can't go on international duty.

Good win. On to the quarter Finals.

Betis are a decent team in moments and their fans are entertaining.

-Won
-Kept a clean sheet
-Nobody got hurt
-Nobody got suspended
-Didn't get screwed by the ref/VAR on anything

It seems too good to be true, doesn't it?
One of their players came off injured in the first half :wenger:

Not a great game, feels like we’re crawling to the end of the season. The longer we are in all those cups the bigger the heartbreak.

Anyway job done

Job done. Varane and Shaw rested, Martinez, Fred, Bruno and Rashford taken off at right time to rest for Fulham game. Casemiro didn't get a yellow card thankfully.

Didn't watch first 15 minutes but professional performance since.

One more game before international break. Tonight was our 45th game of the season and there's at least 15 more to go. Really hope players like Martial, Antony and Eriksen will be back soon, would mean so much for final part of the season.

May not have been the greatest performance of the season, but we have to remember that Betis probably would have played us off the park in the previous few seasons and we’d have relied on a counter and some de Gea worldies to get us through. ETH really has done so well in less than a season here.

Yeah, the ref was weirdly competent today. Very strange of UEFA to employ a ref whose IQ isn't in the single digit range.

Only one yellow card, I can only imagine the ref was so embarrassed by that one that he decided handing out cards wasn't for him.

Fairly comfortable night, move onto next round.
We do need to step up on our passing skills, both in midfield but particularly in final third. Far to many sloppy balls, unable to find red shirts, and in quite a few instances selfish decision making.
But heyho onwards and upwards.

Nice to hear we had a reasonably comfortable game by the sounds of things. That Rashford goal

It's exciting knowing there's so much to play for left in the season. I can't see a team that looks like a really comfortable tie in the next round but if we can beat Barca we can beat anyone left. Hoping Sporting will go through.

How Betis finished that game with no yellows is baffling. The referee was atrocious and I would pay a small amount of money to hear him explain why Pellistri deserved a booking for his "foul".

Oh well, job done. Glad that Pellistri got some minutes and Rashford keeps scoring. It would be great if we could go on to win this thing.

It's infuriating how greedy our players are at times.

More interested in personal glory than doing what's best for the team.

Sancho today (offside), Bruno in the final, Rashford many times over cutting in from the right and trying to pad his stats.

Things are moving in the right direction collectively but there's definitely a selfish streak running through the team with the final ball at times.

Some players rested and those that played didn’t need to exert themselves too much

Routine second leg and safely through. A good night's work.

No but it is my way of dealing with the inevitable. We will lose another final my bad gut is telling me so, I find that hard to take

Why even try then. I mean why go for the title either because we might end up not winning it and that's hard to take.

ps. Not talking about this season but in general.

Not to be a negative bastard but City are a rather large obstacle. I'd love to be surprised though.
Can see us doing them at Wembley in one our best moments since Fergie. Can also see us losing to Fulham on Sunday so don’t listen to me.

Get in there.

Tie was over after the first leg similar to the Forest game, just needed to see it done tonight with no injuries or suspensions and job done.

ON the one hand it's not easy for players who don't play regularly to be thrown into a game and perform well (evevn though Pellistri disproves that),

but Elanga... my oh my. what the hell do they coaches see in him?
Sancho too,

An obviously very very talented footballer who will surely "make it"- to whatever capacity- at one point.
But probably not here

Maguire good
Malacia good
Pelistri good

Elanga and Sancho shit.
Wout so slow and unlucky.
Should have scored 3 more.

So much disconnect and sloppy play. So much room for individual and team improvement. Can't deny the progress made.

The game tonight was entertaining but lacking in quality, Rashfords goal aside. The important thing is we are through comfortably.
