Despite Lindelof and Maguire's best effort to feck us over Ronaldo managed to grab us a win.

We remain to be shite, but at least it wasn't the usual borefest they served us.

Ronaldo is brilliant
Elanga played really well
Matic is important
De Gea is decent

The rest are fecking lame

I quite liked the conclusions after first 30 minutes in the matchday thread:
- Ronaldo proving haters wrong(he actually scored 3 so fair enough)
- Pogba deserves his contract extension
- We are so much better defensively with Lindelof

All made after 30 minutes against the worst team in the league.

Mata and Matic were superb. We actually gained 4 points on Arsenal from the last 3 games

Happy we won and we are back in the race for top 4 .

We need to beat Liverpool and it is massive. They are the best team in the world and way better than us.
Although in football anything can happen.

If we win it is the happiest day for many years as a United fan. We have had so many bad performances so please step up for once.

Will probably say more after watching the 90 mins on Sky (it will surely be their game of the day)... but boy we sounded awful if radio is anything to go by. Sounds as if we need at least two full backs, a CB, as many midfielders as we can lay hands on and a centre forward. no probs...

Dreading every Norwich attack. Norwich.

Rangnick putting out that midfield.

He needs to do a lot better; 4th is there for the taking and we have no excuse not to be challenging for it.

All the rivals for the spot are poor, so it isn't an excuse unique to us.

Made very hard work of that with some shambolic defending, not just the dodgy back for but our soft centred midfield.
mata was superb when he came on, proper footballer, precise pass and move, shame he’s old and slow. Matic also added some steal in midfield.
Great day for Ronaldo… Rashford wtf, every time he got the ball he screwed up, zero confidence in his own game that lad.
A glimmer of hope again for top 4 but can’t see us getting owt v Liverpool.

RR talks about controlling the game. There is zero control, it is a complete mayhem. Bruno and Pogba cannot be use to control midfield. We play 2 players who is leaving free this season. What's the point of playing them? I thought I will get to see Hannibal play. Let's get in a real manager, RR is only good as a consultant. Nothing more.
He was saving Matic for Liverpool on Tuesday. You throw Hannibal into a barely functional midfield with protection and you don’t give him a chance to show what he can do. I would have loved Mejbri to play, but today wasn’t the day.

But I don’t know if you’ve missed the story, we’re getting Ten Hag next season. What do you think get in another manager for the last 5 games?

People say the darnedest things.

Delighted with the win but so frustrating how we’re always involved in these tight games against the bottom sides. Wishing the clock down at the end there. Also, every time we lose the ball teams break so easily against us. You’d think this would’ve been rectified by now.

If Ralf isn’t going to remain manager then there’s literally no incentive to play him over someone in the first team. Especially as your still in contention for the 4th place trophy. Sad but true.

The Ronaldo show. The defense is horrible. Top 4 is still on, somehow.

United win along with Spurs, Arsenal losing gives us supporters some false hope that top 4 is still possible.

Only one of that group of United players that is keen to finish 4th and he scored a hat trick today. Not looking forward to Tuesday at all.

Really hope we don’t see that starting lineup v pool. Nervous performance in a game we should have coasted home. Looks like all of our defenders are marathon training as they accelerate like one, just so slow off the mark everyone of them. Well done to Ronnie on the 50th hat trick once again 3 very different goals, must be due a penalty soon.

We have 3 games in a week with our oldest CM on the bench and 2 out injured, who's he supposed to play there?

You don't understand, we should have kept Ole.

Happy with a win, albeit the 'effort' it took from the players to earn it against the bottom club.

One thing is for sure, you could not create one competent defender from the 8 at the club and they need to be moved on if we are ever going to compete for trophies.

Ronaldo does what he does, if ETH believes he can't work in his system so be it.

Isn’t the incentive that he might play better than some of those first team players? He is still trying to make his way as a player maybe more likely to be busting a gut and listening to his managers instructions.

Still need to make 4 points up on Spurs due to their superior goal difference.

Quite a poor performance against a poor team. Says it all really. Crazy when you watch the game and think that most players need replacing.

Sancho, Dalot, De Gea and Bruno just about looking like first team players.

Mata played well when he came on doing the basics which we've not grown accustomed not to expect. Viva Ronaldo.

Jones has played in midfield, was the best player on the pitch last time he played.

Whatever is chosen, we don't need to be so open, and we definitely don't need to have Pogba at the base by himself.

We made really difficult work of what is one of the worst teams in the division. It was largely an open game, mainly because we weren’t playing with a proper holding midfielder, this caught us out several times. Great free kick from Ronaldo, and thought Lingard was bright too.

Optimist Take

- Liverpool have played an awful lot of games and every team has off days. Sad though it is our game this week is by far their least important over the last 7-10 days and could be a prime opportunity to sneak a win.

- the run in looks tough with games against Arsenal, Palace, Brighton, Brentford and Chelsea. Yet, there are reasons to have hope in those contests. Arsenal are suffering their own collapse. Palace comes towards the end of the season when they have nothing to play for unless they are fighting for a place in the FA Cup team should they win tomorrow. Similarly Brighton and Brentford are safe so not much to play for. Chelsea may well have FA cup on their minds and with 3rd place down up not as motivated.

- Tottenham and Arsenal play each other so they can’t both win.

Happy we managed to get the 3 points, but the amount of space Norwich had in our half was incredible. If we leave that many gaps at Anfield, we'll be on the wrong end of a cricket score.

Ronaldo's back must fecking hurt from carrying us all the time. feck sake. What our we doing to our legend. 37 and he still has to do this shit all alone.

Can someone tell Rashford that his voice in the public arena becomes vastly diminished if he is no longer a top tier footballer? The man needs to reinvent and reinvigorate himself this summer. By that I mean really work on his body and his game. Marcus, if you don't perform you become irrelevant to the public and so does your influence on things outside football.

Chelsea play Arsenal midweek so good chance we lose at Liverpool, we need a Chelsea win. We need to win at Arsenal, then Spurs have to go to resurgent Brentford later that day.

That's Ronaldo of 2008. Brought tears to me eyes that, had to drink to get rid of the mellowness

Wow. Thanks to Ronaldo for saving us. If we could get a bit lucky (finally) and steal top 4, that would be amazing.

Norwich are incredibly poor defensively. The are really crap. Could’ve had a couple more goals.

We are so sloppy as a football team. Really really sloppy passing, sloppy organization at the back. Maguire and Lindelof constantly in no man’s land caught out of position. The fullbacks Dalot and Telles as a defensive duo might be the worst in the league. Seriously.

How are we still in the race for 4th

I know, it's embarrassing for all concerned. The group of pretenders below City and Liverpool (not west Ham who are having a good season) should be ashamed of themselves for the state of this top four 'race'.

As for today a better team than Norwich would have taken us apart today, such was the baffling lack of intensity we showed to repel danger. Ronaldo, who's had a patchy season by any measure, is our clear player of the year given the goals he's managed to plunder in this poor team.

At least it wasn't boring today, and a win and three goals raised a smile hear and there.

Ronaldo was amazing! Pogba was very good. Pukki was really hard to handle. Should have won more comfortably, but other results made it suprisingly good evening.
