Terrible performance. If we get CL football and we keep the bald LvG, it will be the definition of Pyrrhic victory.
Other than the nationality, they play very different styles. LVG was about keeping the ball for the sake of it. Under the ball one, we barely keep possession.

Thank God we hung on. 3 points!

Really need to work on our lack of composure after having a set back.

Anyway, happy for Rasmus. May he keep banging them in.

We had no control at any stage of the game. We had a lot of chances to kill them off on the counter but we lacked the cutting edge and just players missing their scoring boots today.
However the way we play in general is just awful on the eyes. A lot like how the old midtable PL team under Sam Allerdyce used to play. Long ball into a target man and hope he can control it to being others into play. Not even trying to build an attack.

Seems more and more clear now that Eth is not the man to take us forward if we aim to win the PL again.

pfft, bore off, I thought that was fun.

Job done. Liverpool, City and Arsenal have all found it difficult when going to Kenilworth Road this season so we can't be too upset with the 3 points. We had enough one on ones to win by 4 or 5 and reduced Luton to having mostly long range shots. Just a shame we can't be a little calmer in possession.

Struggling to finish off games.
Another 3 points though.
Hopefully, one day it clicks

Even at 2 up I wasn't getting excited. Should of put at least a couple more away though.

Bruno needs dropped.

Absolutely shocking today. Genuinely shocking.
What was he thinking at the end there? Just keep the ball in the corner ffs.

On his good days he looks inspired, but on his bad days when nothing is coming off it looks like the ball is a grenade that's about to go off and he just wants to get rid of it asap and it really doesn't matter where.

2-1 but with better finishing we would have had 5 or 6.

Happy with the result but Erik really needs to make a point of complaining about that refereeing in his press conference as it was an absolute disgrace.

There is absolutely no structure to that team. At times it looks like there is no fight in them, how often were they second to loose balls? But then at the end you couldn't fault the work rate and commitment. It's baffling.

Hojlund is the real deal, Garnacho wasn't great but he keeps working and going. I think he's going to be brilliant. Mainoo is pure class, when he was involved we were so much better.

Dalot man of the match.

doomers can jog on

Liverpool needed a 95th min goal to draw there
Arsenal needed a 97th min goal to win there
City also won 2-1 there
Newcastle lost there
Brighton lost there
Spurs won 1-0

Playing at Kenilworth Road hasn't been easy for top half sides

2 months ago we would have threw that match away. 3 points is 3 points. You don't get extra points for style.

Lot more cagey than a game should be that you lead 2:0 after like 10 minutes. I think, we were alright but there wasn't really anything to note overly positive. Rashford seems back to his desinterested persona, Garnacho needs a break or a reminder he isn't established yet because his output isn't great. I like him and I like that he is so positive when taking on defenders but it isn't happening at all right now, he is a young player take him off. Casemiro a little slow and not really smart, McTominay as colorless as ever, the rest yeah. I'd be really salty if I were a Luton fan, think they played really well and considering that United was bad enough to not kill off the game, a draw would have been deserved in my eyes.

While it was agonising watching us grind out the win, we were pretty unfortunate not to have killed off the game much earlier. Luton hardly created anything substantial in the 2nd half. How often will we see Garnacho and Bruno fail to score after rounding the keeper? In fact, we rounded the keeper 3 times this game!

Really good subs by Ten Hag. Casemiro and Maguire were poor today, McTominay and Evans did well defensively. Mainoo was terrific.

Hail Rasmus Højlund, the next Ruud.

Got the win but another terrible, uncontrolled and chaotic game. We have now conceded 23, 21 and 23 attempts on goal in 3 games! If you want to win anything this simply won't do and but for better finishing, could easily have lost all 3 games.

Three points earned against a Luton side side whom at home have pushed Man City,Arsenal all the way and drew with Liverpool. After a good start to the 1st half Luton was allowed to turn the rest of the half into chaos and in truth United was lucky to be leading 2-1 at half time. Subs at half time brought more control to the game and had United taken just one of their 4 big chances 2nd half they would have won that match more comfortably.

That was a fortunate win. I'm not sure we deserved the 3 points. However, I always felt we had another gear if we really needed it.

- Why did Bruno shoot after the short corner? The whole idea of a short corner in those situations is to waste some time. And this is our captain?
- Bruno was either a little ill or just decided he didn't really want to play today.
- Mainoo and Barkley were the best players on the pitch today.
- I'm ready for Amad to get some more playing time. I think if he were in the same positions as Garnacho was, we score two more goals. Garnacho's decision making is a real concern.

It's getting harder and harder to want ETH to stay this summer.

Pretty poor all round but big result. Hojlund man of the match, he's getting better and better. Top five is well and truly on.

Some of our players simply do not know how to manage a game at all. What was Bruno at with the corner at the end? It's pure stupidity. Says a lot that Mainoo is the most composed player out there.

Having said that, with better finishing that would have been much more comfortable.

I've also learned to accept that we will never control games under Ten Hag but it's not good for the ticker.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team consistently making so many terrible decisions as us. The number of counter attacks we mess up due to poor decision making is ridiculous.

What I liked today was how we managed to wrestle back control of the game in the second half. At halftime, I was afraid the picture from first half would have continued which would probably have lead to a defeat.

Need to work on our finishing and killing games off.

Being so bad in possession gives every team we play the belief they can get something, they pressure us and we crumble.

Shaw seemed injured throughout, Casemiro lost his legs completely so we struggled against the intensity of Luton. Luckily they lack true ability so United didn't get punished. Huge amounts of missed chances by United which was a bit of a classic. Looked scary throughout but it didn't need to be given the amount of big chances created.

Another close win that should have been a distant win, our poor finishing could have cost us but at least we were solid for the second half.

While it's to be somewhat expected at these grounds, the ref was very one sided, so quick to give fouls to Luton for anything, but allowed their defenders to basically suplex Hojlund.

Three points off Spurs now after a Hojlund double - would have took that at the start of the weekend, but we really don't look good, and the injuries today won't help going forward with our season.

Great start followed by a Casemiro inspired chaos up to halftime and his withdrawal

Recomposed ourselves in the second half and really should've killed it several times over. Garna had something of a mare in front of goal but he tries so hard and runs himself ragged so I can't be too mad given we still won

Great fun to watch, great result in the end and suddenly we're putting together a decent little run of wins

Delighted we got the 3 points but we missed so many chances and made awful decisions on the ball. Was a really bizarre game and felt Luton were going to equalize for 80 mins

If ETH wants us to be a counterattacking team, we need to score on counterattacks.

Are people really happy with this just because we won?

Another atrocious performance which isn't a recipe/indicator for long term success. Same as last year, scrape by with undeserved wins/points.

Some will say I'm spoiled but this is Manchester United and it seems the standards are so low.

I just don't know how anyone can be happy with this/the manager...?

All this time and money yet we can't pass/keep the ball against Luton.

We struggle with the mental aspect of the game. 2-0 and cruising, they score from absolutely nothing and it’s like 11 totally different players are out there for us the confidence is shot

I mean Luton are having 58% possession and 22 shots against us.

How many times over recent years have we said we missed big chances in a game ?!

The final ball, finish or decision making in the final 3rd, often with overloads, is painful.

Rashford and Bruno awful.
Hojlund and Mainoo very good. The rest were average.

Varane and Evans defended ok.

Good win but I can see us getting a hammering soon if we keep playing like that.

Nerve wrenching stuff, but if we’d scored our clear cut chances on the break, we’d have been 3 or 4 up, easily. Profligacy made it much much closer than it should’ve been.

To be fair we regrouped at half time and comfortably saw the game out? I can’t think of an Onana save or even Luton shot on goal

We conceded 17 shots according to the stats here, same as Newport had.
Will never figure out why the quality of opposition doesn`t seem to matter? Every team with 11 grown men on the other side will find ways to cruise through our midfield. Thankfully our defenders are doing a pretty good job!

But hey ho, we find a way to get the win again! We are in touching distance of the CL spots now!!
