GK. Let him hoof.
LB. Shaw must force transfer.
LCB. Dwarfed entire Liverpool attack
RCB. Champions League
RB. Competent.

Very pleased with the forwards. Played strong, solid press. I am very happy for both Sancho & Rashford. I hope this gives them a break from the fans.

The back line played much better,

it is something to build on

Martinez and Malacia were superb, you can tell we're still light in the CMs though although Pool are a hard team to play against, towards the end we had no control. Aggressive and mobile front line looked so much more dangerous as well.

Great match! Passion and hard work from everyone in red. The first 25 minutes were fantastic. We were all over them and made some great plays. Very impressed with Martinez and Malacia as well.

Great win!

Varane, Martinez and Malacia were excellent....Maguire and Shaw are not getting back in any time soon.

Happy for Rashford and Sancho, but we needed to be more clinical in front of goal.

Shout out DDG too, couple of good saves!

  • Maguire should now be our 3rd choice CB. The Varane/Martinez partnership looked great
  • THAT Bruno should be our captain
  • Shaw should get used to the bench now
  • THAT is the Rashford and Sancho that we need to see more of
  • Likewise, if Martial can hold up like that, keep beating players, and get consistent 90mins then we might just see the player we saw in the debut season
  • This now can’t be the ‘flash in the pan’ result like it has in recent years

Very impressive performance tonight, really shocked at the transformation from the first two games.

I guess the question is, was this just a reactionary performance or is this a sign of things to come? I'm hoping for the latter but I don't think you can play with that level of intensity every week.

We still need to control games and find ways to create against teams who sit deeper which will be the real test for the team. However let's enjoy tonight, it's been a long time since we had a win against Liverpool.

Great Team Performance. First time in 18 months we didn't look like a bunch of individuals.

Get De Jong in that midfield with Casemiro, combine it with that attitude from today and we win most games.

Buzzing...

Can we lay to rest Liverpool are good fans now, not a word till salah scored a consolation. Away fans are pathetic

Fantastic spirited performance from the team. Finally a bit of passion and energy at last!!! Not a single player below at least a seven with some really surprising performances from Dalot, McTominay and Rashford. Well played to them and Bruno whose workrate was top class. Varane also had his best game in a United shirt.

MotM though has to go to one of the new lads, Malacia or Martinez but i'm going to go with Martinez who was outstanding. Lovely pass in the play for the first goal and loved his aggression.

Great performance, thought Martinez was MoTM - perfect game after the criticism he's had over the last week.

My only worry is that we won't have that amount of space every game and we'll have to improve in possession and playing out from the back, reminded me of an Ole performance in a lot of ways rather than a typical Ten Hag performance but the press was there for all to see. Still an absolute huge improvement from last week, looking forward to Southampton.

This will do world for everyone around team. I don't think we played good, except first 25 min. But we put in everything into it, something that we lacked a lot. There is lot to improve but with Casimero in the team we should be stronger defensively. Hopefull we keep our centerbacks for next game.

Credit to lot of players. Varane and Martinez were great. So was Malacia. I want to give a big credit to one of the most criticized player. McTominay. Did very good job in the middle of the park. Rashford did very well as striker but as soon as he goes wide he is defensive worry.

Faaaaaarking yes!!!!

Defence was totally awesome, hard to justify Maguire starting again, right?? I kind of feel sorry for him, there's no way he fits. Varane was so goddamn solid and hard and Lisandro bled for us. I'm sort of wondering if EtH was actually giving Maguire and Ronaldo (and maybe Shaw) the rope to hang themselves against Brentford. Hard for them to argue they should be starting any time soon.

Malacia looked real quality and hungry, and Dalot is someone who gets being a full-back, even if I don't rate him technically.

I wanna give a load of credit to Martial as well - he held the ball really well in that second half and his assist made van Dijk look a total fool. He scared their defence at times.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!

Well..... I did not see that coming. I can hold my hand up and say that I was incredibly wrong on that.

Well done to the three new lads, but especially Lisandro Martinez. He was immense.

Does every other manager get these tough questions from the press?

What a night for ten hag. Drops big names and his signings looked brilliant
Yeah, so happy that he can feel validated about those big decisions because if it had gone wrong there would only have been one narrative in the press tomorrow and certain camps would've been coming out with all sorts.

Amazing feeling!

I just hope the players don’t stroke around at the weekend like they just won the WC!

Standards set tonight…do not fecking drop them against the Saints.

Delighted with the Martial performance. His hold up play is so good and the assist to find Rashford was sublime.

Awesome! Take that fecking scourses! Couldnt watch it, so probably thats why we won. Youre welcome

Can someone please tell me if we got murdered in our building up with opposition pressing our first midfielder receiving the ball like in the last 2 matches? Did liverpool pressed our build up play? If they did, did eriksen and co suddently got better or the other players were available in the right spot? Did our goals come from counterattack?

Just trying to address our weak points in those 2 terrible initial games. Hopefully ETH is showing resilience and fixing the mistakes :D

Is it normal for managers to be interviewed in this way now

I haven’t seen it with anyone else. The questioning during the pre match interview with Neville and Caragher was something I’ve never seen before. Refreshing but doesn’t seem fair.

A huge power victory for him in dressing room
