FA L FA Cup 5th Round

Manchester United 1:1 Fulham

Post-match discussion

This is evidently a waste of time. So, last post from me.

1. Again, if they're not significantly better than us, then why are they 9 points ahead of us?
2. If we had beaten them, that would have been the third home win this season against a PL team not currently among the bottom 5 teams in the league. So it's anybody's guess on what basis that could actually be considered likely.
Good that it's your last post as I've already wasted more of my time responding to you than I should.

Now knock yourself out if want to convince others or console yourself that it was acceptable to get knocked out of the FA cup at home to Fulham something that has annoyed and frustrated the majority of the United fan base especially after all the hard work of getting past Arsenal on their home patch with 10 men for more than half of that knockout tie.

I completely agree with you. We were the better of two poor looking teams for the majority of the game, and in flashes I can see exactly how it might look with more physically blessed players in key positions.

I still maintain that it is in midfield that we must invest most heavily. We need two strong and athletic midfielders who can carry the ball forward. I watched Brighton yesterday and they seemed to have found exactly this yet again for good transfer fees.
Part of the reason Brighton have found exactly that is because that's exactly what they have been looking for.

We've been looking at completely the wrong profile for over a decade now. Slow, doddery, weak, technical players.

The questions our Scouts should be asking, in this order are...

1. What is their injury record like?
2. Can they run and press with intensity for 90-minutes?
3. Are they fast?
4. Do they win a large % of their ground and aerial duels?

If the answer to any of those questions is either "not good" or "no", then there have to be seriously, seriously exceptional circumstances for us even to be looking at them twice.

Only when we have answered all of those questions positively should we be asking "5. are they any good at football?"

Try asking those questions of players in our squad, and posters will begin to realise why we're 'uncoachable'

At least Amorim recognises this...first signing...

Dorgu - good, yes, yes, yes

You seem to have a hard time separating emotion from reality. Something doesn't become true just because you're frustrated and annoyed and don't find it acceptable. Anyway, acknowledging the obvious is not a consolation. It actually makes it even worse.

Fulham a very good team and well coached for three years now. Silva is an elite man management also. Takes players like Bassey, Traore and Jimenez and gets them performing to the best of their ability when they were at risk of sliding.

United have no attacking outlet and it completely changes things. If teams can afford to take risks against you because they aren’t worried about you scoring they can present quite a threat, which explains how we make everyone look like Real Madrid. Garnacho was trying but his decision making is not great. He does appear to be trying to pass more instead of shooting every single time. Dalot playing out of position seemed to be getting most of the ball for a long time which strikes me as odd also.

Strange team at the moment.
