Small sample size but I think we're starting to see that the elephant in the room is Paul Pogba's inability to integrate into this setup (and the league in general). He's at a real crossroads at United and in his career in general, the Herrera/Mata/Lingard/Rashford pressing combination has worked much better in the last two games and I think going forward if we want to play faster paced, more clinical football in the middle third then there isn't room for Pogba there. Guys like Fred will integrate into this type of team a lot better and it puts into perspective Mourinho's comments about needing to cement the defensive aspect of this team a little better.

Fulham were dreadful though, admittedly.

Very good performance from us at home after a while. D. Dalot was brilliant to watch. The way he stretched the play was very very satisfying to watch. His deliveries are amazing as well. Enjoyed the whole match after a very long time.

I still have serious doubts that he can turn it around, but he's handling his stay of execution pretty well. The Pogba snub, together with our overall performance, should help underline the manager's authority an instill some work ethic into the squad. Whether a different manager benefits in the long term remains to be seen. But this match was exactly what we needed.

We're obviously a good side, as evidenced by the fact that we play like world beaters the minute we go behind. Jose's challenge is to make the team do that from the first whistle. I think his strategy of benching our main franchise player (to borrow an Americanism) in an easily winnable game was the correct one.

Have seen you play more fancy football this season. However, I must say, the team never felt as tactically balanced and cohesive as in this game and Arsenal's.

Could the absence of Paul Pogba immediately make the team structure tick? It's obvious Pogba has been strolling around in most games and I have even accused him of poor position on purpose but to make this much difference in the confidence of the other players?

We were missing Pogba for a big chunk of last season and looked considerably worse going forward without him. I think the recent upturn in form comes from having two genuinely attacking fullbacks and a willingness to press higher and stop playing such a low block.

I agree. Dalot, Young, Mata and Rashford all had good games which properly stretched Fulham. I don't think a good performance against that side today proves we're better without Pogba, in the first half we attacked well and dominated the ball, which would have suited any of our attackers.

This is Fulham the team at the bottom of the league and if we did not win this game at home, Jose should have been sacked on the spot. I am happy we got three points but the real test with the match against Liverpool.

Beating the worst team in the league and drawing against us at home is probably not the best run of games to draw a conclusion on. For some reason I actually would like to see Mourinho do well the man is a right arrogant prick and his remarks about Wenger showed his lack of class but he was the best manager in the world before he went to Real and arguably did a great job there winning the league and breaking Barca dominance.

He was a true winner and I have a soft spot for winners. It would take a miracle for him to start next season as Utd manager probably nothing less than a CL trophy. Still it would be nice for him to leave properly with a decent season behind him in 4th place as long as we are 3rd.

Pogba is also more suited to the Champions League games, where the pace and levels of pressing tend to be lower than they are in the Premier League, so he gets more time on the ball. I suspect Pogba will be sold fairly soon, so it would be useful if he had a decent game.

It would be nice to try a few of the youngsters as well against Valencia, but I'm not sure what the rules are (most won't be in the Champions League squad list, but I' don't know if that's relevant for younger players).

I remember U21 players are "free" from squad list perspective. So we can do all-change. Perhaps just Matic, Smalling (injury?) DDG, Young. The rest can play 60/30min just to warm up.

- dual pivot with herrera helped matic as he had less ground to cover.
- lack of pogba and martial made our play simpler and more direct
- would be interesting to see martial on the left and rashford as CF in 4-2-3-1

He had an excellent game from an attacking perspective. He was a consistent threat down that right-flank and his crossing ability is second to none at the club based on that evidence, but it's his defensive naivety (like he showed against Arsenal) that worries me.

Dalot could prove to be a massive liability when faced with the likes of Mane and Liverpool. I wouldn't start him next week if I were Jose.

He's faced Mane and Gomes playing as fullback for Porto in the UCL at Anfield.

Good performance and win against literally the worst club in the league. I wouldnt get carried away with praise either, they somehow managed to pressure us in the second half and create some chances, which if you think about it its really really bad on our part.

Dalot needs to start, I dont think theres anything Young could do to make me think highly of him I want him gone or premabenched. Lukaku got another goal which can only be good for his confidence. Lots of positives which is good for a change!

No it wasn't. Fulham are crap, we pressed them and harassed them like we should press all teams and the unit that have played the last two games did well in a small sample size. All of those aspects are completely true and are separate from the main point is that I want to see how this plays out.

Like most United fans I want to see this team win and I identify with this as one of the main reasons why we've actually looked like a competent team in the last two games. It is a small sample size but one that I hope can play out over multiple games.

Although the Liverpool game is a total dice roll. You can't play balls to the wall against them or they will rack up a cricket score on you. So after that game.
