Post-match discussion

Sun, 21 April 2019

Ole really slamming the players in the post match press conference. Not individually, but very clear that some don't have the desire, effort or fitness to stay at the club.
Only way to make your words count is to get rid of them in the summer otherwise, its the same thing jose did.

I actually don't care about the result now but not one if those players deserves to play against City.

Worst run of performances I’ve ever seen in over 30 years of supporting this club.

The current culture at the club will rub off on them in the worst possible way. They will get used to underachievement, to being second best to any half-decent team. Their footballing education will be steeped in mediocrity.
Yep.If we want to change the mentality of the club that change has to happen now and ,importantly,in our next match.

The was a shocking display... made our performance against West Ham look like magical stuff

Change it up vs city:

Romero, Valencia, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw, McTominay, Herrera, Perreira, Lingard, Greenwood, Sanchez

They'll then be asking for new 150,000 a week contracts while copyrighting their personal brand names.

Depressed. We can throw all the money we like at it but it dosn’t guarantee change. We need a class of 92 style infusion of eager youths who actually want to play for United.

"I'm going to be successful here. There are players here who won't be part of that success."

You tell 'em.

That is a proper quote.

I genuinely believe he can and will be ruthless.

I just doubt the backing he will get from above. Realistically, id get rid of atleast 10 from the squad and bring in 6 and promote from youth.

That will not happen. He said it himself. It needs to though. Fast.

Coutinho then Sigurdsson... Two of the better long range shot takers you'll find... And yet we're happy to give them all the time in the world to have a free pop at goal.

Aren't we feckin generous... And stupid... Mainly stupid.

As long as he realises there are some English players who should be going, not just shipping out for foreign ones. Rashford needs a reassessment as he is nowhere near good enough yet and needs telling that he still has a lot of work to do. Young, Lingard, Jones should be out.

I said it after Barca, we're absolutely horrid and I couldn't see us getting anything from Everton, City or Chelsea. It's worse than I expected.
De Gea has already checked out, how many goals can he just gift the opposition? It's almost as if he's driving his own price down.
I can't be bothered even going on about any of the squad in truth, what's the point?
All in all, I'd just keep Shaw, lindelof and dalot. The rest can sling it.

Absolutely dejected.

Rotten attitude, not an ounce of fight between them. Imagine earning hundreds of thousands a week to play football and putting in that little effort. Such entitlement, makes me sick.

Worst thing is, I used to think I could see a way forward but today I just feel a bit hopeless, I mean who is there to build on? Where are the characters? This whole squad combined doesn't equal a Ferdinand, Vidic Keane et al.

Let's hope the youngsters can surprise us.

Manchester United are one of the biggest football teams on the planet and you think this jerk is "wasting his time here" . No matter where he is Pogba will be a malign influence on a club and the players . He never will and probably isn't capable of putting in the level of effort and concentration that the really top players have and put in year after year .Players like Ronaldo Messi do it . Hopefully Madrid are desperate enough to buy him
Like Ballotelli before him Pogba believes he is gods gift to football and deserves to be praised and feted no matter what; yes hes talented, yes he has fabulous ability which can turn a game around, yes he could become truly great, but sadly I think he'll end up like Ballotelli, and even more sad, he doesn't seem to care. The way things are with him when we do get shot of him we'll take a loss, but he has to go.

The first 25 minutes every lose ball seemed to go to an Everton player. After 10 minutes I realized it wasn't just lucky bounces, it was a lack of effort from our players to be in the right positions. That was shocking and sad.

Take a look at Pogba's twitter bio:

"The Official Paul Labile Pogba Twitter account. Proud to represent @adidasfootball across the world!"

No mention of Utd.

In his twitter pic and the header he is not even wearing our colours, he is representing France.

Time to cash in.

I agree. Id keep Rashford and give him another season. Its unpopular but id keep Lingard. Squad player only though. I think in a team performing well, he can perform when needed. He isnt someone who is going to change a performance but he can feed off other players well.

Jones can go. Young can go. Smalling maybe but it wont happen unless we got 2 CBs and bought Tuanzebe into the squad.

United player post match interview lesson 1:

[insert United player here] speaking to Sky Sports: "From the first whistle we weren't good enough. We just weren't right and obviously playing [insert opponent team here] full of confidence.

"I don't think that was a Man Utd performance. It's disappointing, we have got to dust ourselves down - we've got a big one on [insert next game date].

"It will show our character, I know we have great talent and it's a big one for us [insert next game date] now.

I thought Pogba played a good game when he had the ball as he showed desire, skill and creativity. Like all the other players, though, he couldn't be arsed without the ball.

I've been really critical of Pogba but at least he made a few decent passes. Best of an exceptionally bad group of players.

Btw so much for the 'Dalot should be starting ahead of Young' argument :wenger:
Young is shit every game FFS. You gotta give another player a chance

What about the theory that Ole's punishing but necessary fitness regiment has maybe been implemented too soon?
This thing about players fitness puzzles me; theyre professional athletes, its their job to be fit and stay fit, they have all week to train, get fit etc, so why aren't they fit? Today most of our players looked as if theyd just finished back to back marathons, Ive seen fitter looking corpses!

Something came up after 1st half so didnt watch 2nd half, guess it wasnt any better than 1st. When it comes to 1st half, it was something else, i will give them that.

Exactly, when hes not the centre of attention, doing tricks with the ball, making long passes etc hes not interested; football is about more than looking god on the ball, you have to work too.

Yep, but doesnt help that we have no other full backs to come in and replace him. Dalot just isn't ready, that was as bad as anything Young has done. Damian and Rojo offer no attacking threat. Young is the only real option and that is REALLY depressing considering his form. This is on our poor squad planning/transfer windows.

I think he is always so quick to side with managers because of the train wreck that happened with him and Valencia so he doesn’t want to dish out what people were giving to him

He doesn't tend to blame individuals at all. Instead a collective, ie. the board or the players. But as I say he has defended a lot of the new contracts we've given to the likes of Lingard over the years. Yet it's pretty clear that a huge part of why we're where we are is the business decisions on the playing side, we have one of the highest wage bills in world football, and for what exactly? Our squad is so far behind the best it's frightening, because we are overpaying so much mediocre dross. It's also why we hardly ever get good fees for our players, because they're all on such high wages that we practically have to give them away to find a buyer.

Feeling bad for Ole. He defended these players when he joined. He said they were talented. Look at the performances now. They are all utter wankers and I wouldn't care if every single one of them left. This game should be the last we ever see of some of that lot.
Yeah, they've shit all over the supporters now its Oles turn, yet only a short while ago some of them were saying how good it was for them to have Ole as manager...they are a fecking disgrace and unfit to be associated with Manchester United.

Exactly, when hes not the centre of attention, doing tricks with the ball, making long passes etc hes not interested; football is about more than looking god on the ball, you have to work too.

I still think Pogba can be great for us. He just needs to not be the main man. He doesnt seem to do well when he is the main guy. That means a team of world class players around like the French natiknal team and that wont happen. So maybe...We should cash in.

250m base amount to spend. Sell all the deadwood and accept offers on maybe Martial, Pogba. Maybe a swap can be done with Lukaku or just sell him. Im not sold on selling De Gea but if it happens and we get a great replacement then meh. Use the money gained to add to the base transfer budget.

Bring Greenwood, A.Gomes, Chong, Garner, Tuanzebe and even Laird and O'Connor. Mix it with new signings and hope they have a class of 92 style impact. :)
