Post-match discussion

I've already sorted it out in my head, Expected nothing or maybe a point vs City. So I suppose 4 points from these two games is not bad. Just hoping we stay ahead of Spurs and everyone else behind them.

On another note, AWB has been a revelation. ETH is some coach.

Too many players below par. Some of them look knackered.

We won’t always play well but the coaches need to work out how to raise our bottom level because when the form drops it’s scary how poor we can look.

Sickening.

i actually thought most of the team played well for large parts of the game (big credit to AWB and Shaw for the most part) but our wingers let us down badly. Rashford was poor and Antony wasn't great either.

I don't blame ten Hag for not subbing Casemiro at all, the reason he was left on was precisely because the score was only 1-0. If the ref had done his job and given the penalty or our forwards had played better then we wouldn't have needed him on the pitch for so long.

Incredible people want us to sell Maguire and mctominay with zero replacements in place. Squad thin enough that any injury and a suspension would have us bare bones.

So I wonder if the media will make a meal for 1 week about the stonewall pen not given? Or that only works if it's in our favour.

Go on pundits, go in. Say it was so, so clear that it should have been given and Man Utd have been done dirty.

Feels like a loss. Should have had a pen. We were still shit in the 2nd half. We don't create enough. Rashford was also being greedy all game. You could easily tell he was thinking about his goal scoring run. Felt like last season again where he was refusing to pass. Antony is also not very good.

Starting Cas. Him getting a yellow. Still didn't win. Terrible result in the end for us. Cas was still great. As was AWB. He saved us a point with that tackle at the end.

BS. Rashford, Antony and Co putting 2/10 performances on the pitch cost us the fams

Rashford looked exhausted. ETH should have put Garnacho on at halftime. And since the team wasn't playing very well, we should just protect the lead, which means McFred and Maguire.

Don't think that result or second half was anything more than game 8 since the WC catching up to us.

By the 70th minute some of the team looked completely done and dusted.

Hindsight is wonderful of course. Sunday will be interesting.

Yep, Bruno had nothing in the tank, Rashford too. Legs had gone. Stone wall penalty BTW.

Some massive overreactions here. We were very good in the first half and should have probably been up by more than a goal and while we sat down in the second half, we still could have grabbed another goal or see the game out. Naturally we won’t always be able to play 90 minutes at full pace and be consistently great but this wasn’t a bad performance at all.

On Saturday morning I’d have taken a point against City and a win here against Palace if it had been offered to me. So in my mind we are no worse off.

Shit happens. You can’t win every game.

I’m very worried about Antony though. He just doesn’t look as though he’s going to cut it.

Our entire performance turned to shit from the moment McTominay came on. We should be biting Newcastle’s hands off if their interest is real.
Exactly what I said.

At least we didn't lose this at the end, thanks to AWB. Just need to pick ourselves up and keep going to stay in the top four.

Yeah, I wish he hadn't scored so we lost 1-0 instead.
Doesn't change the fact that we'd function far better as a team with a more technical, intelligent no.10 like Odegaard instead of Bruno.

It's hard to not get all down and negative after a draw like that, but we're still in a good place. Easy PL schedule after the Arsenal game, let's just continue winning. There will always be games like these somewhere in the season. Ten Hag will be fuming and good things happen when he's upset. We're still 6 points clear of Spurs, although 8 would have been amazing this early.

Penalty looks worse and worse. Even sky pundits don’t understand why it wasn’t given. I wonder if the media will spend the next 3 days talking about it?

De Gea - didn't do anything wrong
Wan-Bissaka - bit sloppy with passes but overall dood
Varane - good as usual
Martinez - bit off at times, some good paases in to midfield
Shaw - average
Casemiro - good but should never have been on the pitch
Eriksen - solid
Fernandez - mixed, looked tired
Rashford - poor, played for himself, not the team
Antony - less than average
Weghorst - average, looked a little off the pace at times
McTominay - average
Garnacho - hardly involved
Fred - did nothing but should never have been risked after Casermiro's yellow

VAR - learn the rules, the ref didn't give it so VAR only can judge if it was aclear and obvious error by the ref, that's judgement call for the ref not obviously wrong

Also, Casemiro missed a point blank chance :nervous:

Statistically probable that we were going to drop points eventually. Hurts being such a late equaliser but it was always bound to happen soon

Poor game management. We still don't have control of games for 90 minutes. I think Ten Hag got it wrong playing Casemiro in this game, or at least for keeping him on as long as he did.

Yeah definitely left him on too long and we paid a very heavy price in the end

On one hand, I'm really disappointed.

On the other hand, I thank god I'm actually disappointed because we're losing ground in an actual title race.

How long has that feeling been??

Eth is to partly blame for today. Tok early he decided to close the game. Last 30 minutes we didn't plsy at all

I can't even begin to explain how bad Palace are. And somehow we looked the worse of the two teams in the second half. Two steps forward, one step back.

Disappointing result.

And I thought it was a pretty disappointing, sloppy performance overall. Never really seemed to get out of second gear, just looking to do enough to see out the win. And when we attacked, I felt there was a sloppiness about the final ball, and too much overplay / fancy flicks that didn't come off on what looked a bobbly pitch.

Just one of those nights, really. Tricky game, on a poor pitch, tucked in between two big matches, and, as was feared beforehand, they didn't really seem to get up for it enough and put in a pretty poor performance.

I am starting to come around to the conclusion that Bruno is a net negative for us in tight games.

We're away at a tough PL ground and we're largely controlling the game...until the ball goes anywhere near Bruno. When he gets on the ball its chaos. There's a 20% chance of a wonder pass and an 80% chance he'll gift the ball to the opposition in a dangerous area.

Top players in top teams dont play that way.

Post match analysis has unanimously said it was a penalty.
Slo - mo replays from all angles and it looks a nailed on pen.
VAR fecked up here.

They’re also blaming Bruno’s sloppiness for putting Casamiro in the spot where he made that rash challenge.
Casemiro was giving Bruno the look and we now pay the price by losing him against Arsenal.

The boys are walking around shaking their heads at the end of the match, not sure why... deserved to drop those points in the end.

Another thing I'm not sure about is how we looked so threatening in the last 2 minutes after the equalizer, what happened in the 40 minutes prior?

Shame, that. Feels like a deflating result. But we still have a great chance of top 4 and hopefully this is just a bump in the road.

That's the most frustrating thing, if we weren't so sloppy and casual we could have won that 3 -0. It's was so frustrating. I fecking hate that casualness. Hopefully ETH does too.

That second half was fecking shite. Totally wrong attitude, felt like we thought the win was going to come by itself instead of trying to kill the game properly, which put us in a precarious situation towards the end.

Ref fecked us, and Palace got lucky, but we should've killed the game.

Blatant pen on MCT, VAR so inconsistant.

Should have been 3 points but 1 is not the end of the world. Its Been an amazing winning run. Fatigue catching up on us second have.

Play Lisandro CDM at Arsenal. He can fill Casamiro boots better than MCFRED.
