PL D FA Premier League

Crystal Palace 1:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Wed, 18 January 2023

Just one of those games when you felt Palace were always there. We completely went to sleep in the second half. I don’t remember testing their keeper once in the second half. Players looked fatigued.

In the grand scheme of things we had/ have a very slim chance in the title race but a point takes us 6 clear of spurs in 5th when they go to city tomorrow.

I hope Rashford was saving himself for Sunday because that was his worst match in quite a while.

At half time at the weekend we all thought he was coming off, so there's every chance he's not quite 100%.
He's excused after his 8 goals since the World cup!

We did more in the remaining 2 minutes after they equalized than we did the entire second half.

Deserved to drop points, that was uninspiring.

First time since ETH arrived that I’ve felt he mismanaged the second half. Lots of things should have changed a lot earlier.

Bruno was horrendous second half he is such a weird player, so creative but his decision making at time leaves a lot to be desired.

A real missed opportunity tonight.

Really bad second half performance.
Rasford was back to last season.
Absolutely no control in midfield. The amount of times we gave the ball away was unforgivable. Got what we deserved really.

There was a 10 maybe 15 minute period in the second half where each team literally could not keep the ball for more than 10 seconds - terrible terrible quality.

A common feature is our defensive subs, the ones that our supposed to help us see our a game, always end up seeing us come under more pressure. Normally we don’t concede, so it goes under the radar.

A sign of how crap our squads is outside of our best 11/13. The minute McTominay came on we played less and palace dominated more.

Gutted. We played quite well in the first half. Then we made changes, our shape changed and we couldn't keep the ball.

Casemiro out of the Arsenal game. This United team should be more lethal in front of goal. The final ball is just lacking.

2 points dropped. Should have had a penalty. Conceded a wonder goal.

Gutting.

This sums it up perfectly. We can’t forget as well that this is the second of 3 in 8 days, We’re bound to get leggy at times. Brilliant finish from Bruno but my god does he give the ball away a lot. His pass got Casemiro booked. Everything is fine though, it’s a pity we didn’t win but no more than that.

Tough one to take, super free kick at the end there. It wasn’t a great performance and a draw was probably fair in the end. The full backs played great as did Varane and De Gea, but the rest were really below par. You could tell that the team were saving themselves for the weekend as our tempo was really slow for most of the game. Casemiro's booking is a really shame too, almost certain it was going to happen though.

After our run of wins, a draw is an ok result, we’ve had enough good results lately to allow for a draw at a difficult ground. The point takes us into third and possibly with City winning tomorrow, they can keep Spurs away or at least a draw means no damage done.

That was incredibly scrappy football. Our passing percentage must be below 50% second half, yikes!
And that was a stonewall pen for Scott that was denied for some unknown reason. Maybe all talk about our equalizer saturday got into the refs heads.

Should have been a penalty, case should have been taken off with us 2-0 up.

Ah well onto the next one.

Welp. That was a punch to the gut. Brutal final 15 minutes and a mediocre performance overall. Now we've probably lost the chance to beat Arsenal too. Refs partly to blame. They'll be desperate not to give anything remotely controversial in our favour for a long time now after what happened vs City.

Major overreaction here. It’s just very disappointing. That’s all

Poor performance from the midfield and attack.

Defence stuck to it all game and AWB, Varane and Martinez were good.

If Eriksen isn't playing we can't pass for shit.

Many of the players played as if they weren't focused on the job today and we got what we deserved playing for the final whistle the whole 2nd half.

We never really went for the 2nd goal and we paid for it.

Losing Casa for the arsenal game was the icing on the cake. We fecked up today.

Why is it whenever United get a decision and the media harp on about it, we then always get royally screwed in the next few matches

Gutted, but a fair result, we stopped playing football in the second half, just gave the ball away endlessly inviting pressure after pressure onto ourselves.

We move on.

Probably our worst game since the first two. Absolutely dreadful second half, AWB and Casemiro pretty good, the rest get at most a 5/10.

Ref get -10/10

We'll have to deal with insufferable twats listing the occasional time we get a decision like the City one, yet will refuse to acknowledge things like tonight.

Played well first half and should have put it to bed. We Flagged badly 2nd half.

Rashford was anonymous or back to running into players. Is he fully fit?

Awb was bloody awesome.

our back up midfield players for Erikson and Casamiro are not good enough.

***For me -V- Arsenal id play Martinez as CDM in Cas place and Shaw at Centre half.***

That was tough to take. Gone from a good result and comfortable night to a dropped points, loss of a key player vs Arsenal, and lost momentum.

Rashford played like someone who wanted an individual record. Could have passed a number of times to people in better positions. I guess the positive is that monkey is now off his back.

If we can beat Arsenal this will be just a bump, but still 2 lost points.

Ten Hag seems pissed. As he should be.
Left us playing with 10 men with Rashford not looking interested at all.

Terrible outcome after a very good first half. Taking Wout of was a massive mistake it feels like. Rashford was either injured or two focused on the record to play well and we completely lost any composure and build up in the offense when he was moved to center and Wout went of.
I am still not convinced that Bruno on the right is any good. He was great in the first half but as soon as he was moved right it went south. Taking of Eriksen for McT and simply swapping Antony with Pellistri would have been better choices in my opinion.
We where always going to get fecked by VAR after the City game.

Looked so poor in the final 3rd, had very little. Rashford wasn’t in the game much and without him we have very little threat.

Very disappointing result and to lose Casemiro is a huge blow, although it’s not the midfield that’s concerning, it’s the lack of firepower and goals we have in us.

Bruh... What's with British referees? Why are they so retarded? How is that not a pen? Do they make sure only mentally disabled people are hired to officiate the games? I swear to god, I have never seen referees that bad. The one and only - the retarded British refs in the most retardedly ran league - the English Premier League.

Was seeing constant Ten Hag abuse in that thread, Casemiro being called brainless and all kinds of names, all it takes is one bad result and this place turns to a clown show.

Yes. It's incredible.

Obviously gutted like everyone else but this is a learning season guys, better to make these errors and mistakes now than when we’re in an actual title race for real. We have a thin squad still getting used to the managers’ ideas so as long as we’re moving in the right direction until the end of the season, which we clearly are, I’m content.

Great defending from the back five against a struggling Palace side and the attackers serve that up. Woeful in possession all half when all they needed was a bit of composure to kill it off. We throw two points down the shitter and lose our best player for a key game. fecking fuming.
