People far to quick to blame Ole after a top 3 finish. It's a rough start with no preseason. We've had that before. What is more concerning is that the weaknesses we saw before are still there. The players that were average before have not improved. Rashford is still not a consistent performer, Pogba can still be dominated in a midfield when he has the wrong partner. Mctominay has still not learnt to build up from the DM position. We have remedies already for a lot of these things, but at CB and rw we need to either look internally or for right wing pay Dortmund. It's that time, we have to make a move. We can't rely on rashfords form and expect miracles from Greenwood. Nor can we trust lindelof.

All I know is if there was fans in the stadium yesterday what would of happened? Anto Glazer/woodward songs? Boo-ing our own team after victors 3rd mistake?
I can remember people being equally hot and cold about Ferguson. 30 years later, he’s feted as a God at Utd. OGS needs time. In a couple of years time, the view could well be different with us having a few good cup runs and being an established top 4 team. From there, we can build again. No manager on the planet is going to come in and fix us in one season.

Bollocks comparison. Fergie’s resume before he came through the doors earned him the benefit of the doubt. While results at the time weren’t coming, the players did not look lethargic and disinterested like they do now. Stop saying their names in the same breath it’s embarrassing.
I don't think we can say the players are disinterested under Ole based on one game. I think fitness was a huge factor in yesterday's disaster but generally the players have shown good commitment under Ole.
Took some time to think about it and 3 things stand out for me, apart from the obvious like Lindelofs horrific performance:
1) it is unacceptable for Manchester United to have to line up with a Championship player in attack and a RB that barely played competitive football in years.
2) It is unacceptable that when things are wrong and we need to push, Man Utd has to resort to a loan striker from China and an 18 yo that just became a full time pro last season.
The squad is unbelievable thin in options and the board need to take full blame for this; from the silly contracts they have offered to players that are not good enough to their impotence in the market.
3) the third aspect is that watching that game reminded me of a game we had against Barcelona many years ago in pre season. It was prime Barca with Xavi and Iniesta and we had Cleverley and Gibson in midfiled. We looked fantastic and run the show. Why? Because we were more advanced in our match fitness.
Palace had 4 friendlies and one official game while we had one friendly. There was no question they were going to be much sharper and regardless of quality, even the best players around will struggle to play while not being match fit; Bruno, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, looked like pub players because of this; has feck all to do with tactics and the knee jerk about coaching.
Next league game should be considerable better but i don't expect us to catch up in terms or sharpness until we get about 3 games under our belt. We will be fine in the long run imo but this beginning is painful.

We’ve lost one game and it looked like the ‘Ole Out’ bandwagon is gathering pace. The fact is, this isn’t a one season or even two season fix. Change the manager again and it won’t even be a three season fix. Losing one game doesn’t make Ole a bad manager. He got us to 3rd last year which I thought was a bit of a miracle.
There's certainly no way that someone who compares Phil Jones to Rambo is being serious.
Mctominay has shocking positioning, can’t pass & can’t tackle, yet he’s starting at DM? Shocking team selection.
Stop this one game nonsense. This is far from the first time the side has looked flat and lethargic. We finished in 3rd but on 66 points in large part because we dropped points against 8 of the 10 bottom 10 sides. How many more seasons does the manager need to fix that? Most seasons 66 points won't get you 5th btw. Bottom line is if he can't motivate his players on a consistent basis, assessing how long it will take to fix the squad is a meaningless activity.

You have a good memory if you can remember how the players were performing at that time.
From my memory, some of the football was poor, and not very exciting, but I certainly can't remember if they were focussed, or lethargic. Yes, you're right that Fergie' probably deserved a good run at things, but he had people within the club who backed him to the hilt, don't forget, he did make some poor decisions as far as signings are concerned. Ole, currently, has had less time than Fergie', and is not being backed by the club, so I would give Ole more time to see if he can turn things round.
We recovered excellently from a miserable position last season but 3rd place was in no way a miracle. I mean, we had something like 66 odd points which is a poor return and in line with LVG, Moyes etc It's just that the completion for top 4 was absolutely useless. He basically did just about enough. Let's not forget that we need a top manager and he has prove that's what he is. Scraping 3rd/4th is not proving himself.
There is no excuses for choosing slow and weak player especially in the BPL.
If only we could just concentrate on getting strong and fast players we will be fine.

No. It was far from a miracle. Last season, or the last 9 games were not a typical end of season. And the fact that we finished 3rd needs to be qualified by a very average 66 points.
81 points and a 2nd place finish with a much poorer squad was far closer to a miracle.
What about his record vs top teams last year? I thought that was highpoint?
We have a lot of players who have big reputations and have been hyped beyond belief to the extent that the fans now believe the propaganda. We are a team that in a very good day with a fair wind and decent tactics can finish 3rd, but we could just as easily finish 8th. That’s why I think Ole did well with the players we have. He needs another 2 years to get us challenging for the Title.
Thanks for the laugh. We're not challenging anything with him at the wheel. The Europa cup last season was basically served to him on a plate. And he managed to royally fecked it up (not even getting to the final). It was an amazing sight to behold.

Then to suggest bringing Jones back into the team is ludicrous considering the mistakes and own goals he contributes. I believe its one or the other for Bruno or Pogba to play, we should be more compact and protect the defence more and should have started with McT and Fred then bring on Pogba in the last 30 mins.

We need a leader, that has to come from CB or DM in my opinion Maguire is not the man for the job and we have no commanding presence in CM. We looked so lethargic yest. Slow build up, tried to shift the ball both sides to move Palace with zero success. We really need a centre back, controlling midfielder and right side outlet and probably a left back after all that. We get at best 2 of them and even that I'm not convinced. Yesterday's performance I hope that Ole tore the lads a new one over, was so bad. Late Europe or not, were already off the pace.
There's been four managers since SAF retired, with varying pedigrees/experience/success prior to taking the job, the results are more or less the same. It just doesn't feel like there's an actual answer with just a manager. It's baffling to me that this club is somewhat in the same sort of rudderless funk.
Yes, his signings deserve lots of praise. He signed 2 record-breaking defenders to solidify the defense, to build from the back or build the foundation or build whatever. They started brightly and then turned to shit. Now we're talking about another expensive defender to patch the leaky defense. Isn't it amazing how all his signings start brightly and soon turn to shit when he has time to coach them properly? Maybe it's time we realize our cult leader is just an inept coach, yah?

Even a not very exciting appointment like Ancelotti would have been a better choice, on paper, than any manager we’ve had since Fergie. It’s funny the way the lack of trophies for Poch is seen as such deal-breaker when you consider the recent history of all the other managers we’ve hired.

We tried two of the biggest names in the game before Ole with the same result it's always the same story. They were all left hanging after some success by Ed and it looks like Ole will follow the same path.
We had 16 efforts on goal against a side who put 11 behind the ball. That wouldn’t have happened under Mourinho. That’s what I mean by ‘encouraging signs’. If we’d have won the game 1-0 but still under performed, most people on here wouldn’t be bleating. However, we lost to a side who we seem to consider to be ‘lesser’, but the fact is that they have taken points off better sides than us over recent years.
As the game progressed, you could see us visibly wilting, which is where we need a leader on the pitch. Jones may not be the best player at the club, but I can’t think of one with more fight. I realise that I’m in a minority, but I like Phil Jones, I always have. Every team has a whipping boy and Jones is ours, undeservedly so in my view. Yet another change of manager would be counter productive. We need stability and we need to work to a plan. I know that OGS isn’t in the same league as Klopp or Guardiola, but I can’t think of any other manager that is, so we would be trading one manager for another who also doesn’t measure up to the ‘big two’. Let’s take our chances with the manager, but take no chances with stability. OGS needs 2 more years to prove his metal.

I also agree with this. The players should give 110% every game, in every training match. Both talent and mentality wise a majority of these guys are not united level. Not their fault they are not world class. Being world class is as much mentality as football ability a lot of the time. No club puts pressure on players like this one, so you got to be tough to play here and thrive. Problem is they have wages that clubs that are their level can’t afford, so what do we do? If they are happy to take a pay cut to move then happy days. move them on.. but that seldom happens. It’s been a problem here since fergie left. Even players you think will be world class here, don’t make it, don’t hit the heights. Crumble. Then it’s hard to shift them because of how expensive they are. Who’s to blame for this?
The team isn’t balanced enough. The tactics are way off. I love ole to bits and actually think he has done ok but I can’t see us winning the pl with him as manager. (I would love to be wrong) The difference a top class manager makes is the biggest difference there is. Just look at klopp. Created a monster at Liverpool, every player in that team brings something to the team, they are balanced, passionate, hungry, fighting. He’s even got average players playing like world beaters. The mentality is world class, it’s relentless. Restless. Brutal. We do not have that. We limp past the finish line way to many times to reach those heights.
who chooses the manager? The board. Who actions signings? The board. Who puts players on silly contracts? The board. Who doesn’t get us a DOF? The board, who’s responsible for the structure of the club, the board. Getting this all right is way way way off, has been for years And these guys at the top don’t know enough about the game to know how to put this right.
Biggest question of all is why Ed wood wood makes footballing decisions? Why not get in footballing brains to make the footballing decisions, starting with a DOF.
