Really satisfying result to win with relative ease but not be at your best either. Some goo performances out there though. Casemiro, Shaw and De Gea in Particular. Hard to pick MOTM between the first two.

Rashford continuing his hot streak and Garnacho having a goal involvement again is very satisfying too.

Bournemouth have conceded an average of 2.2 goals in each game this season. Without that late third we would have been below that average. At home. Which says it all about how poor we were overall. I also don’t remember their keeper making any good saves. Glad we won but that was not a good performance.
Who pissed on your cornflakes today Pogue? That’s way harsher than the team deserves. It was a routine win, with a few key players out due to rotation. We could’ve scored a couple more (Martial and Garnacho chance). Performance was not perfect, but hardly deserved being labelled poor.

Was there tonight. Felt like United were in second gear all through and could have upped it if they had to. Casemiro made it look easy tonight, seriously what a player. Travers in goal was Bournemouth’s best player by a mile and that tells the story of the game. Great atmosphere with the World Cup medal on display.

Seeing some negative stuff on here about Bruno and I wonder what match you were watching. I also think Martial had a decent game, got badly shook up with that far post chance but was good up to that point.

Maguire had a few comedy moments as usual but I suppose he was OK.

Travers made a great save from Dalot and also saved a couple of others from close range late on. He kept the score down, played great.

I’m actually starting to tentatively get that feeling of expecting to beat bottom half teams again.
Hope it continues.
Would love if we could get your man Thuram in.

What a coincidence! All scoring today and pushing for that vote. :)

That was a fun second half, wow. Garnacho sure is something. Teams like B'mouth are going to kick the shite out of him. That was an awful tackle on him today.

I don't get all the Martial hate today, he was 'fine'. He was very involved and held up the ball much better than last game. He missed his chances, but that happens.

Shaw has been immense. As a huge critic of his at times, I could not be happier for him and the Team.

Impressed with the performance today. We are becoming a bitch to play against.

There are no routine /easy games in the Premier League. We gave away some chances, but Bournemouth piled forward and we could have scored 6 easily.

Shaw motm, and I friggin love Casemiro.

You play too much FIFA. They're arbitrary terms that mean the same thing.
I thought a cf is a false nine. I don’t understand why the terms are used as meaning the same thing, since they are not.

Yes of course we beat a struggling squad, but clubs like this used to go to OT thinking they could get something, with good reason. Not today. We battered them. Not much to quarrel with.

Besides whats already been said about the obvious motm shaw and cas, i just want to reiterate again how much i admire Bruno's ability to have a shit game and still get an assist. Our most important player in the last few years, and some of you wanting him benched are fecking nuts

Hes the ideal player for ETH style. We break up play and counterattack fast. We are not a fecking tiki taka team, and ETH doesn't give a f*** about dominating midfield with 300 sideway passes and having 80% posession. Bruno compliments Cas and eriksen so well as the final midfielder/striker to touch the ball before a foward player, which is what ETH is about. bruno is never gonna slow down and play some boring safe sidepass, hes a robot who only cares about getting the ball to the rival goal asap. If you don't accept it, you're missing our player who contributes the most in the final third.

He is immovable in our first XI. Deal with it
Could not improve on this post. Nail. On. Head.

A center forward is a false 9? I don’t think so, but that’s just my opinion. A false 9 could be considered a type of center forward.

If I was told we'd be in fourth place at this stage of the season I'd have been relatively happy with it.

However if I was told;

We'd be five points above fifth
Seven points above Liverpool
Level on points with third and a game in hand
One point off second
One point behind man city

I'd have bit your hand off!

The cannibal has spoken, is you real name Hannibal? :D

Question for the Caf: I didn’t get to watch your game, but my United friend told me Bournemouth got away with a ton of @rap and VDB got injured?

I’m curious how you guys saw it. I’ve been noticing a trend where lower quality teams are being allowed nearly free reign to muddy the game and take it down a level to even the field this year, and player safety was frankly one of my chief concerns.

It was quite hardly contested. Difference was they were nastier and VdB looks like he’s properly injured.

Centre Forward and Striker are the same, you can lots of different types of CFs and strikers from Mark Hughes to Henry to Pele. Both terms generally mean the furthest player/s up the pitch.

A false nine is not really a CF or a striker.

A false 9 is 100% an attacking midfielder. Fabregas for Barca, Silva for City, Lingard once or twice for United; they all played as a false 9 and they are absolutely attacking midfielders.
A CF is exactly the same as a striker. The only thing you could argue is the difference between an out and out striker like an Owen, looking to play on the shoulder of the defenders and make runs in behind, and a deep creative forward like a Cantona or Bergkamp looking to drop into space and tee up the Owens of the world.
But deep forwards aren't false 9's.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the way I see it:

- Centre Forward: Basically a striker, someone whose main role is scoring goals. Type (specialty) differs from those that dribble (Henry), pure finishers (Van Nistelrooy/Solksjaer), link up play (Martial), speed/finish combo (Rashford, Mane, Salah). Can do a job on the wing (if they dribble like Henry or have speed like Rashford, Mane, Salah) but 90% of them would be ineffective there (imagine Van Nistelrooy, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku as wingers).

- Support Striker: The Rooney position. Plays as a "striker" just behind the other striker and links up play between midfield, wings, and the other striker. Main job is also scoring goals but has extra role in assisting with link up whenever possible. Should have good passing/crossing range, and mobility.

- False 9: Attacking midfielder. Primary role is to link up play and open passing lanes between himself, midfield, and wings. Very good for a possession based team where most of the players' strengths are link up and quick passing to open up space for each other. Usually a CAM with great passing and very mobile. Can play on the wing/center midfield and be effective most of the time. Not necessary to be a clinical finisher as the goal scoring burden should be spread out between all 6 players (midfield+wingers+false 9) due to increased openings via quick passing.

Good win last night only 2 criticisms from me are the number of chances we conceded, and how blunt we looked up front in the first half.

Really hope we can find a solution for extra firepower up front, could be the difference in a good and great season.

Some really beautiful goals and a clean sheet. Very good performance!

Casemiro is showing why he's considered among the absolute elite DMs in the world, Shaw is looking great and no one had a bad game.
Let's get Bruno back to 20/21 form and a young, hungry striker in and we have a top side again.

My understanding of a CF and I am 62 and dont play Fifa (although my son and grandson do so am aware of it l ol) is the central striker who is either a target man or poacher in the centre. At the moment all our strikers, including Martial, are better from the left or right.

Remember we've played option 3 and 4 at CB.
We also need a quality ST, hope we are able to get someone this window who can rotate with Martial.

Will Mainoo and the other youngsters get minutes against Everton?
or Charlton. I'd like to see a mix of yoiungsters and experienced players but we must protect the senior players for the League. Im not really bothered about the League Cup, a little more about the FA Cup but we need to get back into the Champions League which will attract the players we need. Yes, it would be nice to win some silverware but getting into the top 4 must be priority. Lindelof, Maguire, Dalot, MacFred, Garnacho, Malacia and a few of the kids - Mainoo etc should be good enough for Charlton. Bit stronger perhaps for Everton but City is next week, dont forget.

A centre forward does seem an oddly dated idea. Striker? One who leads line? Forward who is not s winger?

They were very physical- not exceptional though

ETH seemed quite frustrated, and said that we were at times 'lucky'... DDG was superb (again, what a footballer, incredible...) and although I am so, so pleased with how things are progressing, I just think we need to get some more quality in, really do... either some existing players step up, or we get some in as grabbing top four is not going to be easy...

I’m waiting for VDB to unzip his skin to reveal a mutant learning about the footballing world

How about Donny, though? Heard he swept two people off their feet simultaneously. And they say romance in football is dead.

Thought we were careless because we were so much better than them, if we had focussed they would have been restricted to fewer chances and we probably would have scored 6, it felt too easy and so we coasted, I could understand ETH frustration, that attitude could be very dangerous moving forward if we are so complacent, players getting ahead of themselves when there is still a massive amount of work to do to progress

Still good performance over all and nice result

DVDB taking 2 players out was the only decent thing he did, don't want to be mean but if he isn't going to flourish even under ETH not sure why he is still here

100%. Give all the regular starters 10 days off, it'll be the last break they get.
