LB and LW is a concern. I can see fight and determination from everywhere but Rashford just seems to work hot and cold. His inability to be consistent and concentrate throughout the game affects us. Started well but drifted off in the second half. I’m really hoping we try amad on the right and Garnacho back at left and see how this works.
Also, might be important in the long run to rest Shaw at Luton to not impact the season but who do we play there? Lindelof looked at 6s and 7 there. Maybe swap Lindelof and Dalot but that probably nullifies the attacking threat of Dalot having to cut back to cross

Amrabat played ok there earlier in the season. I was a bit surprised Lindelof was selected ahead of him, but tbf he didn't do such a bad job in the end.

Horrible performance.
Ten Hag is just a bad manager.
I really dont care if we win or loose anymore.

Martinez and Shaw out and we are back to panic mode defensivly.
A win against a top 6 team is horrible? Give your head a wobble man. We created chances, we had like 17 attempts away from home against them. 3 on the bounce but haters will hate no matter if we win. They’ve beat City and Arsenal this season, we’ve done the double over them. And just to clarify city only had 2 shots all game against them.. now that’s an horrible performance.

Newbie making sure they stay a newbie

I'm kind of confused by everybody's "we played poorly comments" I thought we were the better side first half, looked lively in attack just couldn't find the accuracy and/or power in the shooting. Second half Villa were better, but we were still hitting them on the break. I think nobody could've complained if it had ended in a draw, but considering how many one and two goal leads we've squandered this season, grabbing the win at the end shows resilience and an improvement in the team's confidence. Three wins in a row now in the league, let's see if we can build on this and end the season strongly.
That lot are impossible to read, not alone reason with. Ignore and there is a lot to enjoy in the CAF. At least 10% here support MUFC

Every so often we have a spell under ETH where we win games despite being pretty poor. We are in one now. Smash and grab moments as well as individual moments of brilliance. As soon as we face an in form team we’ll get taken apart and it’ll be a crisis again.

Great results, keeps our slim top 4 hopes alive and really puts us in the picture for a top 5 finish which might be enough to secure CL football next season.

Performance is pretty much par for the course no ability to control or manage the game once the oppo work a way around our press. But dangerous when we do win it high and threating on the counter.

Realistically I think villa probably shaded it, and deserved it more than us. But we got the win and for now that's all that matters.

Villa are in terrible form right now and had 23 shots at OT. They’ve now won 1 of their last 6 games and lost to fecking chelsea. A win is a win but we shouldn’t getting outplayed at home by villa or have our standards dropped that low?

Villa were comfortable favourites.

Sky did their absolute best and not showing any decisions that went against United today. Really strange not to see some of the replays
Yes. I was wondering where are the replies for couple of claims from our players.
But there were multiple replies trying to find fault leading to our first goal.

Erm that's nice and all but we played the game at Villa Park yesterday.

5 out of the next 6 should be won. No excuses and I feel we can do it. Rashford just needs to release the ball quicker. Keep the front 3 injury free and we can absolutely do this. A draw against City would be enough if we win the other 5. Be great to beat them though

We were away yesterday .
also we’ve beaten them twice in a few weeks. The same team that have beaten Man City and Arsenal at home and Spurs away but carry on.

I bet villa fans are glad they binned off the cup tie so they could save themselves for their big cup final yesterday.

For a club that have won the European Cup they are very small time in their attitudes

Its like some people don't even watch the game and just spread negativity

Good win against a very tough opponent. Hopefully we move forward

Huge win! Many players showed fight and spirit today. Obviously this should be all the time but was still great to see.

Happy Onana is playing better and had a good game.

I really thought Bruno's defensive work and effort at the end of the game was great, captain stuff.

They outplayed city at home if that helps. And won the game by the way. Or is it just us that isn’t aloud to win games or gets criticised for winning games.

Sod off,
if you don't care, how bout you go have a break mate.

First time United have beaten a decent team away in how long, and you sit there moaning.

sometimes you got to win ugly.
At least it shows that they didn't crumble and get over run - they actually had a crack at them and came away with 3 points.
My thoughts exactly, its so refreshing to see every player giving his all for the team, fighting, chasing back etc, and of course not crumbling when under pressure....a great TEAM performance and hopefully this is the reset we've been waiting for!

When did an away win against a top performing team become a "terrible" performance?

Absolutely bonkers some of you on here.

Great winning goal, top feelings. Well done lads.

Two things about the performance:

We outplayed them right up until we scored, then we sat back and they had a number of chances.

Then after they equalised, we started playing football again, and deservedly took the lead again.

It's not as simple as looking at possession and shots on goal sometimes - the flow of a game changes depending on who scores and when. I always felt we had enough to beat Villa yesterday, particularly after THAT comeback at OT. We just need that bit more consistency and belief in our football and a few replacements for the odd player and we'll get better.

I think Villa played really well but we were able to match the effort in the right moments. Their high line fits our fast forward line and that's why it never felt we fell out of this game completely although they dominated it. Villa are a good team and defeating them at their home will be tough for most teams. City, Arsenal and Liverpool all have had away games like this even against worst oppositions. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Spot on. They battered us up until the point they scored then were largely impotent and sat back. We gained a foothold after and got a goal cause of it.

I think Erik's mcT sub for rashford helped a lot as we condensed the space in the middle and didn't have to carry a passenger in Rashford anymore. Bailey coming off also was a mystery as he was incredible on their right.

We beat a side above us in league away from home. Why are people complaining?

I agree with you and think they are just looking for a reaction to their silly posts.
They are obviously not true Manchester United fans.

A good win. Maybe the start of something good.
Hopefully Onana can build on this performance and improve over the remainder of the season.
Dalot looks better every time i see him, great player.
Scott McTominay does it again!
Onwards and upwards. UTR.

Really big win with some positives but the overall performance was pretty poor.

Weirdly, I think a worry is that was pretty much strongest team and it's still not really good enough performance wise. I'm just not convinced ETH has it to turn us in toa genuine top team.

The best way to describe that performance and win is resilient. There is an increased team spirit which is great to see.
Yes we were under severe pressure from a pretty good Villa side.
And at times we were in danger of being overwhelmed.
But we restricted them to a single goal due to some good goalkeeping from Onana.
I also thought Casemiro played well as did Dalot.

Fantastic result. Onwards and upwards.

Yeah, that's a good summary. The timing of the goals was the main influence on stuff like overall possession. Because we scored early we were happy enough to let them have the ball and hope to pick them off on the break, taking advantage of their famously high defensive line. That period lasted for 50 minutes, so stands to reason the overall picture has them as the team who had more of the ball and did more attacking. Looking at our own xG and shots etc you can see that we did plenty of attacking too. When we needed to score we created chances quite frequently, eventually scoring the goals we were looking for. That's basically exactly the picture you'd expect from a tricky away win.

This was a big problem under Ole as well, it seemed to always take a jolt to get us going.

We need a team who don't need that extra motivation to play well. I feel like their are positive signs that we're heading their but we still need a decent amount of signings before we can field a first eleven of players who can be bothered from the first whistle.

Yesterday, apart from the score (obviously,) I took a great deal of delight in seeing the number of high-5's, low -5's fist-bumps and pats on the back between our players, their body language and commitment was the best I've seen without Martinez, for some time. They real did begin to look like a team.

True Villa were wasteful with the chances they did create, but we know all about that don't we, the game is (and always has been) about taking your chances.

Only poor aspect was how Rashford, although much better than he has been for a while, was still at times looking like he was in a world of his own. Contrast with Garnacho who spreads terror among defenders when he sets off on those penetrating runs full-tilt at defenses.

I think a measure of where we sit in terms of actual quality, we have a mediocre squad with a few stars, sits right about in that Aston Villa, Spurs area

Injuries permitting we may get 4th/5th realistically, I think we are a 5th to 8th team right now, I think part of our problem remains the manager regardless of the current run of results, we could have easily lost yesterday, against wolves and lets face it against Newport county, I am not a doomsayer, and results build momentum regardless of how you come by them, but I am also not getting carried away, we were 8 points behind Villa at the start of the game yesterday, 9 off 4th I just do not think we have what it takes to put together enough of a run of results to really push on, fortunately we have only City and Liverpool in the next 10 matches so we should get 8 wins from 10.... I would not be shocked if we only got 4!

Maybe yeah. Seemed to me to be a pretty good performance too. Especially first half when Shaw was playing. Casemiro and Bruno looked a bit anonymous (which can be a good thing) but everyone else seemed pretty on it. Even Rashford despite some sketchy crosses.

That European Cup in the tunnel before kick off was embarrassing, is that something they always do?
