We need intellectual honesty here and remove romanticism. Ole has done well, but he has not managed at this top end of the premier league for that long and it remains to be seen whether he can sustain his excellent record so far. If he was not a United player with "that goal" in 1999, I do not think we would be all over him as much as we are at the moment, and would just treat him as any other manager who is currently going through a good spell. But you are allowed a legacy, so we will let him have that.
Poch on the other hand, has consistently done well, not only in his style of play, but also his ability to cope under difficult circumstances (financially, as well as injuries). Playing without Kane is a big issue for them, make no mistake, but they are always there or thereabouts at the end of the season. The chink in his armour however is he has yet to win anything - but lest we forget, so is Ole.
So if we are intellectually honest, we have two managers, both of whom have not won anything substantial, one has had a good track record in the premier league, the other is having a good spell, but not clear how he will do in the long term, I think the choice is pretty clear.
What makes it slightly more complicated is the role of the backroom staff. I think this is key, and in this regard, Ole has the upper hand in my view.
Still a close call between the two, I would see how Ole does at the end of the season, as by then it will be pretty clear who is the better choice.
