Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

Thats hot af not gonna lie. I actually just bought both Mario pairs again last night from an eBay seller with 1 feedback for 45% of the going rate and he’s apparently despatched today without tracking. Let’s see how that goes  Assume I’m protected by eBay and PayPal anyway!...

Love the Rayquazs, they’re starting to get the love they deserve. Get them expressed, looking at £5300 just in Pikachus if they score a 10.

you’re a brave man  fingers crossed it comes through!

I couldn’t believe the current prices, I got these ones not far off retail and I really regret not getting the other poncho sets. My issue will be if they come back 10s I really won’t want to sell as I do love them

I've made a collection account on Instagram. It won't be just cards, but would appreciate a follow from you guys!

So after seeing this thread I decided to load up Pokémon Red to see what Pokémon I had that won me the game and just wondering if anyone else had similar line ups. Its got to be at least 5/6 years that I have last played the game so here is my line up.

Charizard
Pidegot
Rhydon
Gyarados
Zapdos
Nidoking

I would always catch Zapdos with the master ball you receive from Saffron City as I could never catch that Pokémon with the other balls. I always preferred Zapdos over the 2 over rare birds that you could catch.

I would always make sure that I'd catch Rhyhorn from the Safari Zone which can be very time consuming as they were always hard to find and that you are on a time limit in there.

I would buy the Magikapp from the seller before the cave and basically use all my rare candy's on it and withdraw the Magikapp in and out of battle to gain XP which use to be a slog until it evolved into Gyarados eventually.

I haven't played the original games for a while, but I did play through them on the 3DS as they were added to the Virtual Console.

I think my first team ever was something along the lines of:

Charizard
Exeggutor
Starmie
Tauros
Rhydon
Chansey

I started a new SoulSilver a few days ago, such a great game
Nice!

I might play HeartGold one day, I played SoulSilver and I never delete my saves any more. I am actually not the biggest Gen 2 fan as I think a significant portion of the Pokemon are weak in most aspects. Off the top of my head, I like Ampharos, Quagsire, Umbreon, Espeon, Heracross, Scizor, Tyranitar and Lugia. Most of the rest I could take or leave, and the region is a bit meh.

However, I think HGSS were a big improvement and they're one of the few S Tier Pokemon games along with Emerald and Platinum.

Kingdra & Steelix  I love that you can go back to Kanto in them as well. Once I've completed this I will restart Alpha Sapphire which I also enjoyed. If I could have one Pokemon wish this year it'd be an Emerald remake that includes full storylines from Kanto to Johto to Hoenn!

Kingdra is one I'd add to my list actually, and Politoed to make it an even 10!

Yeah, it would be nice if they did that, but I think they're never going to add a second region to a game again :( it just sets the bar too high for what fans expect in the future.

We can dream though!

Anyone actually managed to get anything Shining Fates today? I didn't, missed all pre-orders, went to Asda and the Pokemon shelf is empty except for that beginner board game thing and the only thing I can find online on any of the sites I normally use is an overpriced Pikachu V box, just gonna wait for the 2nd wave, just hope that there are more ETBs coming, that's all I really want.

On a more positive note, I started a Geodude collection because I've always loved Geodude...

I had 3 of the tins arrive, 1 in each design. My local shop got like feck all of their order so will see what turns up in the next wave

I have a lot on pre-order, but it looks like the majority of it is not coming this weekend. I have 4 Elite Trainer Boxes, 4 Tins and 3 Mad Party Collection Boxes.

My LGS has sent out my ETB yesterday, but it is almost certainly arriving tomorrow now. I haven't received dispatch emails from Chaos Cards or Magic Madhouse for my other ETBs. Smyth's haven't shipped my Tins yet. I found a random site and got 1 Tin & 3 Mad Party Boxes, but I have no idea if they're arriving today. @Snowjoe used the same site and got his Tins today though.

So, the big day is drawing closer!

Pokemon Day is this Saturday, February 27th.

Any hopes or predictions?

I kind of think we'll get an announcement on Twitter at 2pm today, with a Pokemon Direct coming tomorrow instead of Saturday.... But we shall see.

Before things get too crazy, I think the vast majority of any announcement / stream / show would be more of a 'Thank You' than anything else. Thanking the fans for supporting the franchise for 25 years, having some video reels of big moments in Pokemon history etc. It'll be a nice nostalgia trip and a good watch.

But yes, there will be some big announcements and updates to go with that in sure.

The big one being Diamond & Pearl remakes and if they announce a release date (I am not 100% sure they will). I am convinced they're coming in October. That's already only 8 months away, so they probably have quite a bit they can show us if they want to. I guarantee it will be in Sword & Shield style graphics and support all 900~ Pokemon shortly after release in the post-game.

A bit of a curve ball here (heh ;)) but I think Sword & Shield will receive one more update. It will finally allow every Pokemon species to be sent over to the games using Pokemon Home. I'm not sure when exactly it will update (it might only do so once the next games are released) but I think it will happen.

Pokemon Unite, Pokemon Snap, and maybe Pokemon Sleep will have updates. They'll throw in some bits about events in Pokemon Go and Pokemon Masters EX but I'm not really interested in most of that.

Merchandise! They will show a lot of the collaborations with various companies etc. Talk about the Post Malone and Katy Perry music etc.

One secret hope for me is that they finally announce a Pokemon Center Europe online store. It's about time we could purchase the Pokemon Center products instead of it being JP/US exclusive.

Also, one last thing. I think we could see some combination of Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal added to the Nintendo Online / eShop. You can download them on 3DS, it's about time they came to Switch in some capacity!

These three are my hopes. Sadly I don't think we'll get the original games on Switch or the SwSh update and think DP will end up being Let's Go style, all of which would be disappointing for me.

Yeah, the older games on Switch is a bit of a push but I can still see it. They could release each version for £10 and sell a colossal amount.

I really think the Diamond/Pearl remakes will be Sword/Shield style, if they make a Let's Go game I think they'll do it in order. So, it'll be Johto not Sinnoh and I think they will come next year instead.

Diamond and Pearl Remakes:
-Artstyle is in a werid Chibi 3D
-Battles are the same as in Sword and Shield
-Brillant Diamond and Shining Pearl are the names
-Devloped by IICA not GF

Open World Pokemon Game
- Open World Pokemon Game released in 2022
-Set in feudal Sinnoh aka the past
-Devloped by Game Freak

@horsechoker

Any thoughts on that?

The Diamond/Pearl remakes looks similar to Let's Go. And one thing I noticed is how they do some of the design. Like, trees are still placed in square grids where you can't go and slanting walls are still all just one angle etc. It's starting to look a bit ridiculous on the Switch.

Legends look way more interesting and like they're trying to break new ground. Generally looks prettier than Sword and Shield but not as good as something like Breath of the Wild. I also thought it was a bit disappointing they stuck with the formula of a professor who gives you a choice of three starters and what looked like the familiar battle system of choosing between four moves. Of course they didn't go into any real detail there so it might still prove to be something new to some extent.

It was rumoured these would be let's go style games (less of a fan) but these look like proper remakes.

Excited

I liked all of it to be honest.

The Diamond & Pearl remakes will now feel like going back and playing an old school Pokemon game. However, it will have most of the quality of life improvements from the later games so won't be as much of a chore to play.

Going back and playing DS Pokemon games is so slow now!

Ghost of Pokeshima looks good.

I want the Snap, but the first one was really short, so I'd want to check how much gameplay I can get out of this new one before buying.

Dunno if anyone is watching the Logan Paul unboxing but the first part of this box has been stacked, 2 Charizards

I think I'm the only one excited for DP remakes, obviously more excited for Legends, Snap is something I might pick up way later.

I am excited for Diamond/Pearl remakes as it will feel like playing an old school Pokemon game. I think that is going to be an underrated feeling that people won't understand until it happens.

It's nice to have so many vastly different Pokemon games all at once. Sword & Shield will still be supported throughout, while Diamond & Pearl and Legends: Arceus will be so different.

The next game will probably use the more successful parts from all the games so far.
