Pogba out for 4 to 6 weeks | No Megathreads

He played what two games for France in a week followed by a weekend PL game and then a European game on a short rest? That's a recipe for a hamstring injury if I ever seen one.
With leg strapping for one of those internationals I think? Might be some truth to these furious Jose rumours. Though Jose could maybe have given him some precautionary rest. Pogba's had hamstring injuries before I think. Same leg?

This has come from Duncan Castles - Mourinho's mouthpiece.

Article confirms "six weeks or maybe twelve" - so effectively, they're not sure.

Another interesting tidbit from that piece is that a source claims: "It's not normal for a player respecting our training programme" - which tallies with the other whisperings about Pogba not following medical advice.

How we play against Everton today will give us a good indication of how we're going to fair without him. Herrera is an able deputy in so many ways, but without Pogba's chance creation - of which we are so dependent on - we could find ourselves struggling to get over the line in games.

Just to say I find it amusing the ‘we should have bought a midfielder’ line after we loaned A.Pereira.

OF course it's our fecking luck for this to happen. I can only hope Fellaini plays out of skin and becomes the player we all thought he was at Everton.

Do the article say a tear in the article?
Old Trafford specialists believe the France international may need as many as 12 weeks of rehabilitation, a recovery period that would see him miss five Champions League games plus Premier League meetings with Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Pogba damaged his left hamstring when losing his footing during the first half of Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat of Basel. Initial MRI scans indicate a grade three tear with potential tendon damage

Missing the games against Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal and City.

You couldn't make this shit up. To feck with our luck.

Judging by mourinho comments in the press conferences my feeling is that he will be back after the international break. But the lack of return date by the club suggests they will see how the injury progresses so I don't think anyone can guess.

What a bummer.

Started the season great too. I just hope he isn't out for the full 12 weeks and can hit the ground running when he's back.

Ander Herrera to step up.

We'll obviously struggle without him, he's out most creative midfielder. Massive blow, but hopefully it'll only be 6.

It might not turn out to be quite as disastrous as it first seems. If Matic and Herrera could form a tight hardworking midfield two, and Jose could find a way to get Rashford and Martial on the pitch at the same time with Mkhi/Mata behind Lukaku then that still feels like a bloody good side. I expect our defence to improve, and Matic and Herrera should be good defensively, then I'd back our forwards to outscore most teams.

Of course, all of that ignores the presence of Fellaini and I see that as being the big issue. I'd prefer to see him used as an impact player but I fear that Jose will play him from the start and most of what I've written above will be moot.

If we're as bad as we were without him last season it's a blow to our chances of finishing top 4 if he's out for 12 weeks.

This has honestly shifted my expectations from title challenge to top 4. We can't afford to miss him for 12 weeks and still expect to compete, so my expectations for this season have definitely dropped

I agree with most of this.

Jose's pragmatism and flexibility will shine through for us during this period. I think we'll be fine enough to give the title a go but this might cost us a few extra points that will swing the race in City's or Chelsea's favour.

I think Jose will adopt a more conservative strategy (read, dull, bus parking, result grinding style) and he'll get some stick for not playing 'the United way' but the results will be fine. A lot will depend on how the other players step up though.

It is now so obvious that Pereira should not have insisted on a loan. Imagine the game time he could have now.

Oh get a grip.

Its one player, a very very good player, but just one player.

We were all really happy with the depth of our squad before the start of the season and now that depth will shine through.

Andreas Pereira would be a good option to have in our ranks right now, but to be fair, neither the club or player could foresee Pogba getting such an injury so soon into the season.

Scott McTominay must be licking his lips.

Fellaini and Herrera to step in! true it's a step down but you can hardly have a 90 million player sat on the bench for when Paul gets injured.

Pogma (pogba's mum) just needs to cook him some African food, lots of protein based foods and I'll give him 3 maybe 4 weeks

Can we ever just have a season where we don't have any catastrophic injuries? Every damn season.

I have just recovered from tendon damage and surgery. Took me atleast 2 weeks to walk, then 2 weeks of cam-walker, now I am walking on my own and limping a bit, which is likely gonna last for another few weeks.

Mine was not major, so if Pogba's is grade 3, factoring in the assumption he gets high level treatment, yeah, 8-10 weeks sounds about right.

Mkhi and Mata need to step up and ensure we don't lose much creativity and also chip in with some goals.

Well, it's almost as squad numbers and season preparation should take into account possible injuries, innit? Weird science!

"We were all really happy with the depth"? I said all summer that we needed two new midfielders - a DM which we did get but also cover/rotation for Pogba. Carrick and Fellaini is not nearly good enough cover.

12 fecking weeks would be a disaster, just hope its only 6 weeks l, we need the guy. What's happening to us every damn season we must have a ridiculous turning point. Just hope Fellaini and Herrera do their best covering the area and up their game specially Herrera. The way City performs means we can't drop more points.

I can't believe stretching for a ball will keep him out for 12 weeks, it's not like he pulled up during a sprint

EDIT: ok just saw how Dembele got injury, guess such a nothing movement can do serious damage

My biggest concern is hopefully this doesn't become a chronic injury to Pogba. Any medical professionals with some idea as to recurrence of hamstring injuries?

Giggs used to pick up a fair bit of injuries but towards the end of his career (im talking about 29/30) he improved massively on that front. I guess it'll just be something we have to wait and see on. But i would hope he doesnt become a sick note :(

That would be a shame for the lad and everyone in football (you know those that like seeing good quality football)

I'm not a medical professional but they're very common if not sorted properly first time round. Giggs was always having problems with his hamstrings.

Forgot about Giggs. Let's hope this doesn't become an issue but unfortunately it's already been 2 seasons in a way.
