The thing is though, he kind of does need to grow up, and he kind of does need to focus on his football.
No he doesn't. He's only 23 and his football this season has been very good and he's adding goals and assists. It absolutely doesn't matter what colour/style/shape his hair is in, it's just something for the moaners to moan about.
You're right, it doesn't matter what colour his hair is. That raises the subsequent question as to why it seems to matter to him so much, but besides the point.
You're also right that he's been good this season, very good. He can still be so so much better, way better in my opinion, he's got it all to be as good as he wants to be. It's just questionable as to whether he enjoys the celebrity of his position more than he enjoys working on his game. It's a legitimate fear I think.

It's not ridiculous, what's ridiculous is somehow linking his fetish for colourful hair with his dedication to improving his game.
It's not just a fetish for colourful hair though, is it? It's the attention he seeks from the new hair styles too, all the posts on social media, the kind of feeling that it's a show he's putting on. Add in that crap with the emoji, and it doesn't leave me with the best impression. He's a footballer, not a fecking blogger or some other useless cretinous type.
I'd add that I'm a pretty old fashioned 32 year old, so while not exactly over the hill I'll freely admit that this rubbish isn't my cup of tea. Younger lads are probably all over it.
I'll put it this way, if any of the (many) 23 year olds I work with were in this habit with their hairstyles, I'd be quite happy in my opinion that they are attention seeking tools. Attention seeking behaviour is not something I understand, and that does lead me to question his mentality.

So? Who cares if he's attention seeking took, does that make him a worse midfielder? There's no correlation between social media activity and performances. It's this silly idea that players shouldn't have any kind of existence outside of football. He's enjoying this lifestyle because he's a top tier footballer, it would be just as easy to argue that his reliance on this would drive him to stay on top.
Cant argue with any of that, but it's also difficult to argue with the view that if his focus is on this type of thing then it can't by definition be completely on improving as a footballer. Which is the impression many people get from this craic, and ultimately makes him an easy target when not playing well. Feck it, he's even a target when he is playing well sometimes.
It's something that I think he could definitely do without.

Only if you assume that to be completely focused on improving as a footballer the player can think of literally nothing else. It's not realistic to believe a footballer can have no other interests outside of the game. Do you think that instead of getting a crazy haircut and posting it on social media he should be running on a treadmill watching old VHS' of platini?

It doesn't need to be, my online medical certificate and body language analysis certificate makes me sure of it. Seriously though, an injury like his, that hasn't been yet determined will make him miss that game in high probability.

That is fair enough, I myself do not understand people who feel the need to judge others based on their hairstyle, rather than the person they are.
Just in general, I do not understand the need for people to judge others on the most innocuous things.

Oh God I'm not that old but I truly miss footballers who were only focusing on the football pitch and we had alot at O.T when there was all of this crazy social media I know it's almost 2018 but imagine Schools, Giggs, Cole, Keano in our time now could they ever do that!
