If he stays the most useful thing he could do is publicly demand ambition in recruitment.
How is that even remotely a win-win situation? Paul is our only world class player, the only player worthy of Manchester United shirt (DDG had an embarrassing season, possibly in permanent decline). Sure, lets get rid of the only player capabale of any creativity, lets sell the guy who also is our top scorer despite playing CM position! Utter nonsense. Just look at the state of our transfer window, we're not able to attract any elite players and forced to ridiculously overpay for the rest. Over 50m for a defensive fullback who had a decent season with Crystal Palace, and possibly 80m for Harry f*cking Maguire - and yet you want to sell Paul Pogba, the best midfielder in the world, hoping we'll somehow manage to replace him. Don't be ridiculous.
He certainly hasn't shown this playing for us. Or for any other team for that matter. If we invest the money we get for him smart, we could be better off as a team even if we end up with "lesser" players. Pogba's contribution would not be that hard to replace, especially his penalties.
Losing the only top player we have makes us look like a weak club and doesn't actually take us forward. This is wishful thinking. At best we'll be taking sideways step. There's nothing stopping us from buying lots of top players to help each other- just like any other ambitious club.

Why else would Real Madrid and Juventus, both continental powerhouses and both miles ahead of us, be so desperate to get him?
It's very optimistic of you to hope that we're capable of "smart investments", because since SAF's retirement we've had two of those - Paul Pogba, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The rest oscillate between "decent, but hoped for more" (Lindelof, Matic) to "absolute embarrassments" (Fred, Bailly, Alexis). I don't think there are many clubs worse than us when it comes to transfers... if any.

Yep, he can single handedly take teams to CL finals and win the World Cup solo but can’t elevate our league position above 6th or even stand out against relegated teams in the PL because his team mates are crap.
It’s almost as if it’s a team game and he’s partly responsible for teams being good and bad on different occasions.
For France, he has carried the team. Not in a typical way but his impact was real. It's just that Griezmann helps, and Matuidi and Kante also help in the midfield. But he did contribute a lot during this world cup and I was very happy with his work.
It's been said multiple times but Paul is able of providing high quality output, even for United with Ole, he could do it for a couple of games. But then, the reason why some say we're "carried" by Pogba I think is because when teams double mark him, we don't have another spark of creativity to create an opening, while in theory, if Pogba is double marked, it should create space for other players. The fact that it is that easy to stop United is the real proof that we need more players to create when Paul is not able to create.
One player, however good they can be, can not always make the team win. Maybe Maradona could because he has a mental strength and sometimes would even cheat, but look at Messi for Argentina. He's one of the best in the world and it didn't work out when it mattered. So using that criteria to say Pogba is not world class is not right. Yes, it's crazy that sometimes he loses the ball against a shitty midfielder in the EPL (no disrespect here) but Messi also had those days.
I’d say Gyifi Sigurdsson carried Everton better than Paul Pogba carried United last term.
So in others words, he didn't actually carry the team, but was a contributor in a team loaded with top players carrying their own weight.
You have to wonder what made him come back at all. The chance to prove himself at a supposedly higher level tinged with a little insecurity surrounding the manner he left the first time? Or was it all just about the money?
He has, it's indeniable. It's just that France somehow works a bit like a club instead of being a national team, with a lot of chemistry possible because of talented players. He brings a lot of talent while Matuidi and Kante brings coverage, and Griezmann brings a talent.
We don't have to play like France, but my point is that no player, even Messi or Ronaldo, when playing in the midfield, could change a team if they are double or triple marked. And this is exactly what happened to Pogba at the end of last season. When that happens, the space created should benefit other players, but if the others cannot create, it's a waste.
Title. The will to win titles with United was real. Why is he leaving? Because of the money? Or because we don't play the CL and don't challenge the title? He wants to win and he wants to see investment in the squad.
And then money, I mean, that's what ambitious people go for.
I get it that Paul is not liked at United right now, but blaming him for all the dysfunctions of the club (and I use the word club purposely) is nonsense. He has to do more, of course, like everyone, but he's a very high ceiling player.

Whatever your thoughts on Paul's abilities or otherwise, he has certainly given a clear indication that he wants to move clubs, and we, as a club, should honour that, so we need to sign several CM players asap. I, personally, wouldn't want either Isco or Bale, and I think £150 is too much, but I would still ask for that.

I don't know why we're messing about with this situation. If we force him to stay is he going to play his heart out? Has he had a good game since Zidane went back to Madrid?
He's the best player in our squad on paper but, if his heart isn't in it, I fear we won't see that player if we hold him at United against his will.
I would take Isco before Bale but sooner have cash, then we can go for Partey and LoCelso.
I don't think Pogba has never carried any team. He's a very good footballer but he should never be anyone's 'best player in my opinion. I think we saw good evidence of that in the last World Cup where he was fantastic but not overly central to everything France did well.
What irritates me more and more about Pogba is how is best attributes and traits all suggest he'd be a much more effective number 10 or striker than a central midfielder. His vision is by far the best at the club, he's particularly good in tight spaces or at creating more space for himself on the ball and he's tall, strong and quite good at holding the ball up. Defensively he's next to useless. As others have said it's not that he's lazy it's that he's an attack minded footballer and doesn't see danger, doesn't track back and is prone to giving the ball away when he has managed to gain possession in our own half. I would rather a player with those attributes be further up the pitch doing his own thing and giving the oppositions defense something to worry about than being anywhere near our own half.

Agree he needs to go if that is what he really wants but again we have no reason to let him go cheap and so far neither Real nor Juventus has made any sort of offer nor indicated they agree with our valuation of the player. If P squared is everything he, Raiola and his fans claim then the price needs to start significantly above the fee for Felix who has not actually achieve anything at all yet.
This should be resolved quickly for it might ruin the (pre)season.

Madrid are loaded and with sterling so weak they shouldn't have any problem paying it.
