Although he did concede that embarrassing goal from a Pat Jennings goal kick in the '67 Charity Shield fixture.Yes....Bad days, huh ??
But I made the point because at that time nobody was saying ' Yeah....Stepneys a shite keeper ( which he wasn't, of course ) but we've got to keep him because he's our penalty taker ' as some on here are offering as valid reasons to keep Pogba dspite everything else we've seen....
This might be the best post in this thread. This isn't a go at you personally, but I truly don't have the energy to wade into debating every nuance of pogba with people who will defend at all costs. My fairest barometer is that I've watched united my entire life and think he's been absolutely average for most of his time, brilliant at times and truly abysmal at others. For 18 months his professionalism and respect for the club and its fans has been undeniably sub par. Overall considering the expectation and world record fee, he will go down as a categorical failure of a signing.
We are in a mega shit position with this. It’s very difficult to get a win here.
My view is to sell. We might not get what we should and we lose a player who can be quality but the circus and instability is causing a big issue at this stage. If he stays I can’t see how we wouldn’t have the same BS come next summer.

Everything about him is a circus. His first move away was a circus, his transfer back to us was a summer of farce, his 3 years here have absolutely been a failure and he's siebr the last 12 months courting as much attention as possible. A truly infuriating modern day player that will be forgotten not long after retirement. Couldn't hold a candle to the truly legendary midfielders
Don't get the point in keeping him around for another year if he wants to leave now. Real will only continue to unsettle him and it will distract him from the job at hand here.
Yeah I think both will benefit from a divorce but the problem for you guys is that for the majority of last season he was the only one producing:
So when you remove this kind of influence in the team you're going to initially struggle to replace that kind of output.

I just don’t see anyone, that he’d want to go to, with the sort of money we would want for him - at the moment. We may be stuck for another year.
I’m not suggesting it’s the case, but possibly his outburst is born of frustration in our dealings in the transfer market so far, shared by many on here. IF we show some real ambition in the market I think we might see a much better, and happier, Paul Pogba.
We can't sell him, so we have to keep him. Why do you think Deschamps would select him if he doesn't do his best to play? It's a no-brainer.
If he wants out, try to accommodate him.
The fantasy scenario where we play hardball and do a Mourinho style Schweinsteiger on him if the buyer won't cough up 200m and he starts sulking is just that - fantasy. It won't happen. Nor will the other fantasy scenario where he plays brilliantly in spite of wanting out because he's afraid of losing his berth for France. He'll be a huge problem at United if he enters next season thinking we've hindered a move to Real, or Juve, or wherever it is he's seeking a "new challenge".
Get it done quickly and move on.
Well, unless you want to sign more Daniel James' for the midfield, I think we would struggle to attract talent for that re-build with the Pogba money. If rumours are to be believed then the likes of Rabiot are turning us down for Juve. Also some of you are acting like he's already throwing his toys out the pram, he isn't, he was just asked a question and being the direct kind of person that he is, spoke his mind. If Madrid doesn't come on strongly, I don't think he will push for it. Lets wait and see.Just get rid of him as soon as possible. We can't have him sidetrack our summer re-build. Take the money and spend it on a new spine for the team.
The onus is not on us. We have no obligation to let him go until the market price is met.
It's not good for us to keep him. He's not going to be much good to us unsettled, distracted and embroiled in a season long saga. We are rebuilding the squad and might as well sell at a high price this season.
So sick of this boring and stupid narrative.
Means feck all if said influence is a detriment to the team because he only plays for himself and his precious stats.
Right...I get all that but my point is that Utd aren't really playing to a pattern - just relying on individual brilliance and moments so should he leave you're going to initially struggle to replace him as no-one is stepping up with the same output. When you have a player who is that influential (stats wise) in the team that are playing to no structure then you have problems IMO.
Ignore it, a lot of the talk in here is baseless and emotional. I don't think many have thought about this properly for more than 5 minutes.I needed to take 24 hours to process these tragic news and I'm still shocked - what's even more shocking is Caf's attitude. Is it sour grapes? Refusing the acknowledge the nightmarish future that awaits us without Paul because he wants out? Or racism/xenophoby?
You can drone about "player power", "team sport", "reliance on single player" all you want, but the fact is that no other team in top 5 leagues relies on their star man as much as Manchester United do (statistically proven). PP wins matches on his own while the supporting cast would struggle to get playing time in U23s of elite clubs, let alone starting XIs. And what does he get in return? Questioning and abuse.
This is a player who led Juventus to countless domestic trophies and a CL final, led France to WC glory. This is a player who can choose between two continental juggernauts, clubs with world class players in every single position (+ some more on the bench) and elite staff in charge of scouting and recruitment. Good enough for them, but a struggling midtable team like us will let him go without a fight? Ridiculous.
We need to offer him a new contract - ASAP. Captaincy - ASAP. Assurances of world class arivals - ASAP. Like it or not, we've become Paul Pogba FC. There isn't a trace of quality left in our team once he's gone.

It's not good for us to give the power to the player. We are not having any of this nonsense.

Yeah, if he wants to go, him and his agent need to find a club willing to stump up some serious cash and then fair enough, let him go.
My concern is what effect this might have on potential players we look to sign. We ended the season poorly, are not in the CL and our best two players apparently want out..
There's still some hope we can convince him to stay. I'm a Manchester United supporter first, Paul Pogba fan second. Even though I completely understand his desire to leave, for our club it's essential that we keep him.Great post. And for the same reasons I will hope he leaves for his own good.
What a bunch of kneejerk nonsense. McTominay was our most consistent player last season and is only getting better. Pereira still has that bit of Scholes in him that we've yet to see. There isn't a trace of quality left in our team once he's gone.
We had pattern and structure for a couple of months after Ole took over before fitness and injury wrecked it.
Onwards and upwards.
