Gaming PlayStation 5

3rd person shooter, 1st person shooter, just about anything with zombies, GTA style games.
Returnal is a good shout. It plays like a third person shooter and is possibly the best game available, in my opinion. It's also a roguelike and a bullet hell game, so make sure you know what you're getting into. If you haven't played it on PS4 yet, perhaps Days Gone? Lots of zombies in that game.

Yeah days gone was epic, wasted weeks of my life
Shall have a youtube of Returnal and see if it looks worth the purchase price.

Anyone got any feedback on COD Cold War?

Maybe have a look at Rage 2. It’s a fairly simple game but has excellent gameplay/gunplay. Kind of a weird mad max vibe on the whole. I found it pretty enjoyable largely because the gameplay is so fast and dynamic. I reckon if you like Days Gone (like I did) Rage 2 is a good option. Also it’s available on PS Now for £8.99(?) a month subscription so you could potentially just get that and download it for a month or two. Keep us updated on what you decide!

Cold War was decent but it’s got stale. Me and my friends have jumped onto Apex now instead which is loads better.

I've just started ACV.

I know it's only a PS5 upgrade but it looks so nice.

I'm ready for the long haul!

Very very long haul btw.

Has some absolutely pathetic segments which ruin the flow of the game too.

Combat is pretty turd too. Definitely not as fun as the original AC series.

I've been told to expect a drawn-out process but I like the long games. As for the other points, I've also been warned about these too. As a fan of the series, I still have to play it though, even if I don't like it in the end.

The first thing I've noticed is the movement. I feel like it's a chore just getting the bloke to stop where I want him to. That and the change to eagle (Odin) sight makes looking for loot a chore.

Still, I'm very early in the game and I'll see how it pans out.

I've moaned like a bitch about it in this very thread I think, hated it.

I'm still going to complete it as it's that smooth and great to look at, and it does get a bit better tbh, story seems to get better as you progress too.

Tip: if you bump into a zealot early on, run.

Ha! Thanks for the tip!

Can’t get into games like returnal. When there’s just hundreds of bullets and lasers and shit flying everywhere and it’s usually dark and there’s like 19 enemies it just feels way too chaotic for me.

I'm with you there, my brain doesn't work fast enough for that shit, it's why I don't play online, always about 3 seconds behind everyone else somehow.

I really like the games where you can play at your own pace and pick things off one by one, but dislike games that force you to do it that way too, I like a mixed bag so I can choose what to do depending on enemies.

Like I said Solius, you have no soul...

Resident Evil Village

Finished this the other night. Overall a very good experience. The main bosses all ended up being a bit too easy to defeat, or defeating with weapons and no problem solving felt anti climatic. I thought there’d be an eminent of puzzle solving to defeat the main bosses, due to how a few sub bosses are defeated.

The village is great to explore not overwhelming or tiresome like open world games, but not a complete sand box either so the perfect balance.

Currently no online multiplayer which is my biggest annoyance.

While waiting for Far Cry 6, I’m thinking about Yakuza Like a Dragon. Anyone played it?
Yes it's fecking brilliant. Was worried about turn based combat killing the gameplay but it was actually really fun after a while. Great story too. I even platinumed it. Since I never platinum a Yakuza game. It was hell

I’ll probably go with it until FC6 comes out, also Dying Light 2 seems interesting will what the word is on that when it comes out.

Dying Light 2 is due out in December. Hopefully there's no delays. I was worried that game was dead in the water. Loved the first one. So impressive to make parkour feel so fluid in a first-person game.

Made the decision to try to get a disc version possibly this week. Realising more and more the mistake I made getting digital, wanted the console so much at the start of the year that I didn’t really think it through enough.

you just can’t get deals in the way you can for disc. I can’t justify paying 70 quid for ratchet and clank as an example which can be completed in a day or two, had a discussion with my brother about it and it’s a real issue for me. I don’t mind paying that amount for sports games or games like a GTA that you can genuinely sink hundreds of hours into, just can’t justify it digitally for a game that you can play through in such a short space of time and then it has no resale value, at least with the disc you could get some of the money back if you really wanted to get rid. Ratchet is definitely a great example, I could pay full price on digital yet if I had the disc version I could pick it up for 30 quid on Facebook, saving 40 quid in the run and likely be able to recoup some of that money too when I completed it if I wanted to. In the long run the disc version saves so much more money, i talked myself into getting the digital version when I badly wanted the console at the start of the year, I think a lot of thedecision was down to how hard it was to get one and the price at the time having to buy it as a bundle. There’s also the added bonus of being able to use rental services with the disc version. The extra 100 or whatever it is is without a doubt worth paying on the disc version short term and long term.

Hoping to pick up the disc version this week, bit gutted as could have got it from Argos last week.

Digital is a terrible choice while Sony continue the ridiculous pricing on their store.

The whole point of digital was it should be cheaper as there is no manufacturing process.

Really need it to be an open market where you can buy cdkeys from other sites and places like on the pc platform.

Isn’t the manufacturing process a tiny part of the cost of the game anyway?

I’ve been offered a VIP code for a PS5 in Curry’s for £15 which I’m seriously considering getting only concern is how long I’d have to wait for the PS5 to be delivered once I’ve ordered it, anyone know?

No idea how long the delivery wait is but do not pay any money for a code. Quite a few people giving them away on Twitter etc and other places, from what I know it doesn’t guarantee you one either unless I’m mistaken.

There should be quite a few drops this week, Game in particular. Apparently a few places tomorrow or Wednesday.

Cool, cheers. The person I was speaking to strangely ended up offering mea disc version for £500 anyway so I just took him up on the offer.

Just started playing Persona 5 yesterday. The reviews mentioned be ready to waste some 100 hours of your life on it! Should be interesting, since I've never played a JRPG before. Any tips?

Also, I tried playing COD warzone the other day and kept getting annihilated. I really need practise with shooting on a controller, any non competitive games which will help me with that?

I had to give up Persona 5 about halfway through. I just couldn't stand the cat anymore, the most annoying character I've ever encountered in a game.

Saw my mate at a wedding last night and he’s going to give me a code to get Kena: Bridge of Spirits for free when it comes out :D

As JRPG's go it's pretty accessible, but as it's a JRPG, it's also incredibly slow and dialogue heavy early on. It takes a good 10-15 hours before it properly opens up and you get past all the tutorials etc.

It's one of my favourite ever games but it won't be for everyone. I always advise people to stick with it until the 2nd palace and if you're not enjoying it by then, probably best to stop.

Thanks! Most of the reviews and comments also mentioned that its slow pace at the begining and then picks up.

Are the battles going to be intense, or is this something I can fire up on remote play on my iPad and play in bed?

Eh, you really haven't played a JRPG before have you?

It's all turn based, you'll be fine.
