Gaming PlayStation 5

I picked up The Last of Us Part 2 yesterday for £15. Seems a good time to smash through it now it's had the PS5 upgrade and just before R & C gets released.

You didnt play it on ps4 before?
Nope, never had a PS4, even this PS5 belongs to my brother.

Had played a bit of it on PS3 though.

Also enjoying Crash Bandicoot, reliving the PS1/PS2 days :D Reflexes are shit these days though

Wait people are upset about a game being on both PS5 and PS4 now? I thought the exclusivity thing was only something people cared about when it came to rival consoles
Are you kidding they are annoyed that other PS5 owners are able to get their games. They are like 5 year old's who get a new toy and don't want anybody else being able to play with it.

Seriously. They're still PS exclusives and will look brilliant on the new hardware either way.

You’re about to go on an emotional journey. Enjoy.
Considered it. Went for Sekiro instead. TLOU2 after Days Gone would have felt too samey.

It's not about exclusivity, it's disappointment that a) development resources that could go to improving the ps5 version will be used optimizing for ps4, and b) that the game design itself will have to accommodate older hardware (presumably holding the ps5 version back).

I'm not upset about it in any significant way, but I'd rather things be different certainly.
It's a fair concern, but realistically with the lack of PS5's in the open it was always going to happen.

I'm sure though the games will play great, we've seen already how they're possible to upscale versions to PS5 and give them significant improvements over the PS4 versions.

It'll probably be a few years before we get "true" next gen games though.

There have been many people out there who backed themselves into a corner with laughing at Xbox fans because their games were being held back by the Xbone who have had to either double back or double down on their opinion.

Daddy Xbox is very happy with you now. Report back to HQ.

I'm a pc gamer just dropping shade on the people who get too emotionally attached to one product over the other. I have owned both Xboxes and Play Stations in the past. I just find the obsession funny.

Same. I don't get why people really want their console to have exclusives.

I don't find enough time to play to invest into both consoles, so the more cross-platform AAA game releases, the better, for me.
The exclusives in general have a bigger focus on quality, because it is more about getting people into the system.

Other games may have to reduce their scope and attention to detail because they have a lesser budget and their focus is largely about making money from that games sales.

Now if the games would be just as good without being exclusives, then exclusivity would be terrible and every consumer should be against it, but unfortunately they are a big part of differentiating between the systems.

I just hope it's not more difficult than DS or Bloodborne. Love those games but anything tougher would do head in
As always with these games, YMMV. I know a lot of people consider Sekiro significantly harder than other FromSoft games and I also felt that way for a lot of my first playthrough. It's a cliché, but you'll need to unlearn some Soulsborne habits and learn to play this game as it's intended (a certain mid-game boss will force you to do that). Once it clicks, everything becomes manageable, or at least as manageable as their other games. Stick with it, the combat is sublime.

It's not really, it just seems that way at first. It doesn't help that some of the enemy A.I and placements is literally ripped from the DS2 book of mistakes, but more so it's about a different system. You'll pick it up soon enough, don't worry.

Might be a bit harder for you if you never parried on the soulsbourne games though, but even then you'll get it. Worst case, the prosthetics are like Magic in the souls games, as close as you'll get to easy mode but even better to mix and match in this as you don't spec just for them.

The idea of exclusives on PS5 would be a good thing if they properly utilise the machine and the controller.

I'm not holding my breath on that front though, sadly.
Ratchet and Clank next week will do that.

As do I!

Thanks!

Any recommendations from the free stuff on PS plus (the collection i mean, not the monthly games)?
I jumped into the generation in the same position as you, having not had a PS4.

From the collection, The Last of Us is a must-play masterpiece. It's up there with God of War as one of my all time favourites.

Ratchet and Clank is a fun platformer to play alongside any serious games, for when you just want a short burst of fun, without too much story.

On my To-Play list, I've got Days Gone, Bloodborne, Persona 5, and Uncharted from the collection. so you can check some of those out too!

Are the fans loud on this like on the PS4?
I think noise levels are different system to system. I read something about there being different types of fans used, so some are noisier than others.

I think the main noise is the coil whine. When mine is at the home screen, it's near silent, but with most games, you can hear quite a bit of coil whine if it's in a quiet environment, although I play with gaming headphones, so don't hear any of that.

The controller is the one I'm concerned with. Both Astro's Playroom and Returnal utilize it superbly and we'll soon see what R&C does with it, but yeah, I'm not sure whether they'll stick with it long term. Third-party games certainly won't, IMO. Exclusives may.

Of course they'll stick with it long term. It was one of the main selling points of the console, why on earth would Sony abandon that less than a year into the consoles life? I expect R&C will be most impressive display for the controller yet.

Every first party game has implemented it and that isn't going to stop. Also I've played some third party games that use it too. Dirt 5 for example utilises the controllers features very well.

Alright, calm down

I hope they do

Calm down?

I'm just correcting your relentless negativity around Sony. The other day you were moaning Returnal was repetitive and now your complaining Sony may abandon DualSense. You give off serious old man yells at clouds vibes.

Christ, god forbid there's any criticism. "Relentless negativity" What!?

I love Sony/PlayStation, but if I see something I don't like I'll voice it, though. I don't need you following me around from thread to thread, "correcting" anything. Also, there's nothing to correct in what I said unless you're somehow prescient. I also love Returnal and have voiced as much

Also, what's the problem, mate? You always come off as a bit argumentative and condescending. You seem to always take that tone anytime you've replied to any of my posts. Not sure why that is, really. Feel free to disagree with what I say, but not sure why you do it in such a manner. It's all good here.
