So I left ABZU mid way as it was boring as feck and have moved on to Subnautica which was the one I was really excited about from the free to play line up. And it's absolutely brilliant so far. 22 hours in and other than a few 'missions' I've mostly been getting used to the survival mechanics and building new gadgets. One of those games I can just get lost in.
Playing FF7 remake as well which is very good.

Ended up buying RDR2 on the Easter sale and on it now so all this other ps plus stuff will have to wait.

Massive yay, playing it now.
Even though it’s technically a PS4 game, Hellblade plays and looks like a next gen game still.

Id forgotten how good this was and the third act is just incredible stuff, almost transcends the video game platform it’s so absorbing. Headphones are a must. Really becomes incredible when you get the hellblade itself. The graphics, fighting mechanics and music really meld together.

I found it too unsettling unfortunately but do want to try it again eventually.
Yeah I could see why, definitely worth it though as by the third act you are fully absorbed and invested. I was anyway. Can’t wait for the sequel.

Subnautica is excellent. I've had to stop playing though as it was actually creeping me out big time. I'm wondering if I might have a bit of a deep sea phobia.

Yeah. Shame about the pandemic/chip shortage. Supply can't anywhere near match demand and probably won't for the rest of the year at least.
I'm beginning to read reports that it could last until 2023 now. It's amazing how this has become such a big thing so suddenly and could lead to shortages for a few years. I guess that the capacity problems may ease for the consoles as the technology gets more mature and yields get better, but it does seem it will last for a while yet. I'm just hoping that it'll be OK for when I get my PS5 slim in a couple of years.

Home entertainment companies seem like the biggest winners of this pandemic.
Well the pandemic is also driving the insane demand to be fair.
I think it would have broken records either way though. With each console gen, the gaming audience has grown, expendable income has increased on average etc. etc.
Got mine yesterday and happy to see days gone was on the psn as a freebie for the month & that Uncharted 4 is free on the ps+. Was on xbox for the past few years so there is a long list of ps exclusives that I can’t wait to get going on.
You reckon it's a lockdown + scalpers thing? I'll break from character for a moment and say that I'm sure the PS5 will be an amazing console eventually but, like the Xbox, I'm not sure what they're offering just yet that has created such high demand. Inherently speaking of course.

The ps plus collection is amazing if you’re new to playstation. Highly recommend God of War, been upgraded for ps5 and is class, and free!
Lockdown definitely contributed but there were scalpers last gen too. Has to be some demand for the scalpers to keep on scalping. Completely agree with you on not sure what has been offered so far, though the PS5 does have a few more exclusives out, word of mouth about the controller and the PS+ offerings and PS+ Collection have been very good.
Personally I don’t usually bother with consoles at launch as there never enough games to justify. What made me take the plunge this time was that I had a 4K TV and my original PS4 wasn’t taking advantage. I’d say the take up in 4K TV’s over the last few years would be a factor. Game wise they’re pretty pointless so far.
I did see GoW. Will download it and give it a go (eventually) but for all the talk of the gamepass (which is very good of course) the ps+ definitely holds up in value.
The load times and 60fps make the new consoles worth it even just for playing ps4 / xbox one games
Completely agree. The jump from the base PS4 to the 5 is absolutely huge, worth every penny.

Exact same situation and yup, add in the PS+ collection and it already feels like a markedly better experience. Worthwhile even before the games start coming out for anyone who skipped the PS4 Pro/XboneX half gen.
UI is pure fecking muck. Where is the continuity? keep the the things relatively the same whilst having an pie 4.0 no fecking questions asked. Instead im having to jiggle my fecking way in an out of random fecking apps that I don't technically own. You guys are fecking sad for letting this type of shit slide. Imagine paying 600 quid like I did and letting some fecking app suggest to you what to do. So happy I have my 3080.

Honestly I feel like a stupid dick trying to navigate the ps5 menu. I don’t like it personally. I don’t even know how to switch it off from the controller.
It looks nice and all but just fiddly in my opinion. Used to using windows os etc.
