Gaming PlayStation 5

Just got MLB: The Show 20 for £3.99 on the store! Seemed too good to miss.

Did you play the original? If so what did you make of the ending?

I played it back in 1998 but only got about halfway through.

I was exhausted by the time I finished the remake, but ending seemed fair enough.

Went back to God of war. I'd completed it back in 2019 but still had some side quests and valkyries to do. Game for corrupted when I tried to transfer it to the ssd I bought at that time and so I just deleted it.

On PS5 it's stunning and I'm glad I've come back to it. Might do the new game plus this time around. Currently grinding the mist echoes for the big chests and the side quest with the 3 portals you have to close in Nilfheim

Been playing Subnautica for a few hours. Really enjoying it so far. Not really much of a fan of these survival game types, but this one is doing it for me so far. Crafting lots of food and water as I plan on visiting the crashed ship next to my pod, then I'll start building my base.

I just can’t see this game being a hit, be like making a Harry Potter game where you play as Dobby, it may seem a good idea but in reality I don’t think it will work.

The memory situation is so annoying!!!

Why is FF7 Remake 112gb.

I've got 16 games on mine (including FF7) and stil 82gb left. No idea how people can be having issues with a lack of space.

Experiencing similar issues with re-downloading warzone. It is bad for Sony to release a flagship that's around 650gb available "next generation" and all.

TLOU 2, FF7, Cod Warzone, Spiderman Remastered + Expansion (Miles), FIFA 21, Uncharted 4, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn is 600gb. Not exactly loads. That's just warzone too not even the new cod.

Don't forget the console needs like 100gb reserved to play PS4/backwards compat (I honestly can't believe more hasn't been made about that)

Joke.

Just went to start MLB, a 60gb game and it tells me it needs 19gb reserved on top just to start it

More worrying these people that play a span of 10 games installed at a time, freaks the lot of you!

Play one, complete, delete then have your staple multiplayers installed always.

We're not all robots like you and Damo. Some of us can play more than one game without overheating mate.

Starting this later. I usually hate water-based games and levels but I've read only good things about this so I'll see how it is.

I have managed to yet again download Skyrim and start another playthrough. Doesn’t seem to matter what device, I still gravitate to it. Think I know where every single piece of loot is on the game but still I get drawn back, incredible game, possibly the best of all time for me. Shame I likely won’t be getting the next scrolls game on PlayStation.

I don't think the storage space would be an issue if they had expandable storage actually ready by the time it released. Bit silly it's taking this long.

I think its a bit crap it was awesome at the time but the combat is absolutely shocking.

I honestly love it. I just don’t think there’s an RPG that comes close to giving you so much freedom. I know it goes against popular opinion but I enjoy the combat too, I like the control scheme of having left hand on LT and right hand on RT and being able to duel wield, weapons or magic. I really don’t think another game has ever had quite the same impact with me.

tbf i struggle to think of a first person RPG that's similar to it without fallout which is obviously the same.

Thats a fair point.

Yeh that’s the thing, I always try and make a mental list of why I love it more than other RPG games in the genre like the Witcher 3, or dragon age but I find it hard to put my finger on the reasons, likely it’s a combination of factors and one thing I think Bethesda are brilliant at is making an interesting and engaging world. Fallout is very much the same but I’m not as big a fan of the lore behind it.

Yeah, I'm still enjoying it. There is some busy work making sure you have enough water and food to replenish your vitals, but I'm about 5 hours in now and still having a good time.

Is it essentially a survivor game then? Is it quite a chilled one?

And what’s the situation when it comes to load times etc. Does this effectively just mean you are playing a PS4 version with standard load times?
Yeah load times are as standard as in any other generation. Did think of investing in an SSD but read they’re not that much quicker and for the increased price decided it wasn’t worth it. It’s just nice to have all my games downloaded and not have to worry about deleting stuff.

Will invest in an internal SSD for the PS5 when Sony gets their act together and tells us which ones are compatible.

You can actually opt to play it on creative mode where you don't have to worry about food/drink/oxygen, etc., and just build stuff and explore. Similar to Minecraft in that way. I just opted to play on Survival. It can get a little busy keeping an eye on your water intake/food intake. Also, you have to keep an eye on your oxygen levels when you're diving down to explore.

I don't typically like Survival games, but I'm having a good time so far. How long that will last, I don't know. I don't normally stick with these types of games for that long, but who knows. It's going alright at the moment.

You wouldn't half watch a film then start another one, not having it!

But I have a ton of TV series on the go and watch depending on what I feel like.

You only watch one programme at a time?

Incorrect, external ssd is absolutely quicker than an HDD.

I've got a 1 TB ssd which I got for £85 and I use it for ps4 games. It's 2-3 times faster to load than the standard ps4 hdd. Even when I had it on my ps4 it knocked 2 minutes off the load time of destiny 2.

Must have read a dodgy website then  To be fair I don’t mind, there’s only a handful of games where load times are frustrating (looking at you, Horizon).

I think what you might have read is that you can't take full advantage of ssd speed as ps4 cannot go above a certain speed even if the drive is capable of it. It is still definitely faster than HDD and noticeably so.

Got mine this weekend. It's size is almost laughable enough to not annoy me. But ultimately, it still does. Also my disk drive makes an awful buzzing sound for a few minutes when it's (presumably?) reading off the disk. I've read online that this is normal, but man does it sound horrid. Overall I'm not a huge fan of the design. Controller feels amazing though.

Other than that, it's wonderful. Days Gone and God of War in 4k/60fps (I think) look and feel so smooth, as is everything UI related. The PS Plus collection has an absurd amount of gaming goodness in it. Very happy with it in all ways except for it's size and that disc drive sound.
