Gaming PlayStation 5

Eurrrgh I’m a little worried now, I preordered to pick up from curry’s but haven’t paid for the console yet, proper worried I won’t get one now.

I can already see how my Thursday is going to pan out just constant refreshing again to desperately try and get a pre order. I won't even have the support of @Bojan11 or @Tiber as they will be gaming their little hearts away :(

Amazon and Shopto, what dya reckon? Otherwise I'ma do what Adam said...

Amazon give a rough estimate when they coming and when they 8 stops away you can track the driver.

Shopto use DHL or DPD. You can track the driver and what stops he at. You can also get DPD parcels delivered to a shop. Not sure about putting a PS5 in a corner shop though, it would be much safer probably with your ex. I would just sit in the car and intercept the driver when he shows up.

Nah, if I find anything, I will tag you and @Paxi.

Friday is gaming day for me. Thursday is just downloading everything and I expect the servers to be slow as all my purchases are digital.

Yeh good point, cheers anyway. I've heard John Lewis are doing 8am so that's the starting point!

Don't laugh I'm fecking panicking...

You legend! Should work...

Are you expecting to pick it up from hers on the day? And you don't think she'll twig what the massive parcel might be?

I'd go with bribery if i was you.

Mate... Sitting outside my ex's house stalking delivery drivers is not how I saw my PS5 Day going. Oh well... Gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm hoping to distract her with flattery and nostalgia and wait for a brief moment where she remembers that she used to fancy the pants off of me... Then I'll seize my moment, grab the packages, and run off into the sunset...

Yea, this is going to be fecked up no matter what happens...

You still got time to change the delivery address on Amazon, but some people on HUKD are saying that might cause it to be delayed a day or two. Just ask the idiots in live chat what would happen if you do that.

Yeh figured that might be the case. Do you reckon most of the big retailers will get stock on that day?

I think someone on HUKD mentioned GAME, Very, Argos, John Lewis and Tesco. Of course Amazon will be starting at 12pm too.

Asda keep saying on Twitter there will be no stock. Just keep refreshing the top 5 places at midnight.

I'm expecting the majority to be botted for the resell market i spent 5/6 years in the sneaker community reselling and they are all going for the consoles.

IL be around I will be playing Spiderman but the game I really wanted on launch was Cyberpunk :(

Weird, I have a full Royal Mail tracking number and everything. Guess I’ll check it tomorrow.

Normally they use a courier but I've got a Royal Mail tracking number. I don't know what to expect. Still got everything crossed it comes tomorrow.

Be lucky to get it on release via Royal Mail if it’s anything like the service round here post once every couple of days due to covid and staff at the sorting centres!

This needs its own thread come Thursday

Did anyone pre order from John Lewis. Had my confirmation through and they took payment but not a peep since then.

It will be Royal Mail then. But they do use Yodel a lot, consider yourself lucky ;)

Aye top result that, I used to get Yodel all the time and then moved about 30 miles so obviously I’ve got out of their reaches for now.

I would normally be fine with Royal Mail delivery, but they were 2 days late with my copy of Spiderman.

Still beats Yodel or Hermes though:

Love the top YouTube comment:

Saw my Hermes delivery guy as he arrived with a parcel & said "I really appreciate you putting yourself at risk & keeping deliveries coming" & I swear there were tears in his eyes as he drop-kicked my parcel into next door's gutter & threw a "Sorry you were out" card in the hedge

Thank you for your Argos pre-order. Just a reminder that your order for PlayStation5 Console will be delivered to you on 19th November 2020 via DPD. You will be able to track your order on this day.

Wooop

I'm getting mine delivered to a Post Office near work so I can pick it up on my way home.

My hope is that avoids any issues with not being in or it getting taken to a sorting office.

My Amazon preorder is arriving on Thursday. I was expecting the payment to be taken by now. Has anyone else with Amazon not had their payment taken yet?

Me - I agree, I thought it would have come out by now. Imagine it’ll go immediately before your order says dispatched, so probably not until midnight tomorrow night/Thursday morning

Are 70 pound games the new normal for the next gen? Doesn't seem sustainable surely ....right?! :nervous:

I'm waiting for the mad dash to be over and maybe pick one up around Easter time.

Might drop a little but when you realize the budget needed to make these games now its hard to argue against them.

They usually charge when it ships

They stayed at the same price for what felt like decades. Im not thrilled about the price rise, but it didn't shock me

I mean the last increase in game price was back at the beginning of the Xbox 360/ps3 generation. It sucks, but it seems understandable to expect an increase at some point.

That's kind of a problem I have to be honest; I haven't played Assassin's Creed Valhalla and have no intention of doing so but the map size and how pretty it looks is diminished by how incredibly bloated/grindy it seems and boring the story looks (from the few hours I've seen on Twitch...again, admittedly I've not played it). If that's the kind of justification for upcoming price rises and the sheer amount of people needed to make a game then I kind of wish they'd scale it back a bit.

...But who am i kidding, I know I'll end up buying this. (Edit - the console, not AC:V )

Well Witcher 3 is huge and from a quick google is $85million, Cyberpunk is over $300million and more then likely a smaller game then the witcher its more the detail required in modern games rather then the length/size.

Again, another person who hasn't played it calling it bloated and grindy. As is shown by the overwhelimg reviews, the game is not grindy on the least. Almost every review of the game has established that levelling up through side quests is nothing like Odyssey. It's a 40/50 hour main story that can be completed without touching side quests, etc.

The streamer I've been watching on Twitch has subtitled his third video of AC:V as 'The Grind begins'. Again, I stress that I've not played it so you're right, I shouldn't comment on that. I thought Odyssey was decent enough but 70 quid would be way too much for a game of that quality.
